Video: Vince Carter – Farewell, Orlando

His stay in Orlando was short-lived. And Vince Carter’s highlights weren’t even half as amazing as they used to be. Some might call VC’s homecoming a failure — the Magic didn’t return to the Finals in ’09-10 and a poor start in ’10-11 prompted GM Otis Smith to make moves that resulted in Carter’s excommunication to Phoenix. The real question may be, Why make a Vince Carter mix now — now that cats like Blake Griffin and Russell Westbrook have taken the spotlight? Why thank the (few) fans who supported Vince throughout each of his 111 games in pinstripes?

The answer is because Maxamillion mixed it. Maxa knows Carter so well by now, he could make his retirement riveting (now there’s an idea). We’ll let the VC mixmaker extraordinaire explain: “I made this mix chronicling VC’s final quarter-season with his hometown Orlando Magic. This mix is dedicated to those who welcomed VC back home, supported him through his ups and downs, and will continue to support him in the future.”

Thanks, Maxa. ‘Sickness’ is small word to describe how good mixer Maxa has become.

    Overrated. How many rings??

  • dunkbar

    overrated or not: great video!

  • http://www.slamoline.com Max

    Best Raptor Ever.
this vid just gives me creeps

  • Just Sayin’

Overrated by what standards? Not that I want to compare VC to the likes of all the HOF’s out there who haven’t won either, but the man that his peers (as in Kobe and many of the rest of the league) call the best dunker of all time isn’t overrated. He just isn’t as good as you wanted him to be…

  • logues

i guess everyone in nba history who doesnt have a ring is overrated

  • James

Amazing video wish his career would have gone differently but it was nice to have him back home while it lasted

Wonder how he feels about the trade, I remember how stoked he was to join the Magic.. Great performer before the injuries, and still a pretty solid vet.. One of my top 3 fav. dunks of all time was when he stuffed his arm into the rim, and hung by his elbow.. Pretty sure my Blazers are outta contention this year so, eff it, I hope Phoenix wins the chip this year, many deserving vets on their roster..

  • BlackStar

    Amazing video … Nice work

  • http://google c_cantrell

dude is the best dunker of all time hands down.. if you dont agree with that then keep your mouth shut and try your best not to make yourself look stupid

    Brilliant video.
Too bad Orlando got Carter in his twilight.
    Greatest dunker of all time.
Sure fire Call to The Hall.
And, some people may have negative feelings regarding Carter, but he is a classy politician who had a great, great run.
Not like he is retiring, but it seems like he is to a certain extent, for we all know that this is not “THE Vincent Carter” that we knew. All the things he did with the ball.

  • Kadavour

Def greatest dunker ever. 5th best Magic Man ever: Shaq, Mac, Dwight, Penny, Vince.

  • PlanetAsia14

Man, he’s not overrated, are you kidding me? Brilliant mix, and I got mad respect for Vince. Hopefully he does better in Phoenix.

Grestest Dunker of all time. Glad I got to See him play here, glad he wont be wearing my number 15 anymore (now gotta deal with Turk) what I wont miss is him cringing on the floor after every aggressive foul. Me and my boys used to have a game of how many times VC is down grabbing a body part. Good luck out there in PHX halfman, we here they have the fountain of youth out there. Say hi to G(imppy) Hill for Me.

Plus Top Magic off all time list Starts with Nick Anderson, Darrell Armstrong, Penny, Dwight, Mac, and then Shaq.

Best dunker EVER. I simply can’t hate on VC, because he blessed us bball fans with so much entertaining/amazing moments throughout his career. I wish him all the bests in AZ.

Awesome video. I definitely miss the late-90′s version of VC. But if he gets that renewed energy GHill has…man, watch out!

  • Fat Jesus

shuda used J Coles “comin home”

    great video nonetheless.

his prime on Raptors were the glory days, its too bad he left…

  • Drew

Damn that video seemed more like a retirement video. Either way, that was a really good mix. Nice job!

damn, @4:54. remember when he did that to Zo? just much, MUCH higher? vinsanity will never be the same, but hopefully phoenix can help revive whats left of it.

let me tell ya why maxa made this Vid!

MAxa knows what it means to be a dedicated fan! Maxa knows how it feels to love Vince no matter what.. ups & downs, critissicm & fame!.. Maxa knows that feeling of Vinsanity in your heart! And no matter what you say you cant convince us outherwise!

We the(few) FANS (as this forum says) stay with Vince always till the end and beyond! And only the few can feel that emotion that sound of VEEE CEEE THREEE.. Its something out of this world, something you cant explain.. you just gotta feel it!

  • Dubli

    Don’t Worry.

Suns will do him proud again. Sunlight does a body and soul good.

  • Kyle

If he can come back this season at 80 percent, Nash will make him look outstanding. Unlike Hedo, he can be a spot up shooter(far too often, but for the better at this stage of his career), and will get easy layups and dunks. My only problem with him is that his first seasons, you could see that he cared about the game. Then quit in Toronto, and with the Nets while putting up numbers, rarely showed what I had expected. In Orlando, when you want an aging, overpaid Hedo back, that says it all. He’s close to score 20,000 points, and the only player to score that many and not make the Hall is Tom Chambers. I wonder if he’ll be the second.

  • Bryan

he could have been great if he just worked and tried hard consistently. when he was giving it his all in toronto he was insane

His wasted years in jersey were sad, he played great, it was the end of his really good years. Kidd and rj were gone. He was never on a really good team……. ….. ……… …. … What if he was with shaq from 99-04, and kobe was playing with superstars like alvin williams, mo pete(no diss), and araujo?
