Video: Blake Griffin Touches Backboard … With His Head

Griffin’s hops have not diminished any since his college days, because he’s still smacking his noggin on backboards. Yikes:

I think he can get higher than that.

  • Riggs Posted: Feb.17 at 12:06 pm
He can smack his head on the rim too

The Wolves had a 6th man out there ;)

Being that athletic is getting dangerous

    That’s ridiculous!

people.. remember… dwight howard can KISS the RIM.. let’s not forget who the king of hops and reaching the highest is

  • M Cho Posted: Feb.17 at 1:52 pm
the Clips are just throwing anything up there now, thinking Blake will catch and finish.

  • Sizzle Posted: Feb.17 at 1:53 pm
    even his misses are unbelievable

  • fruizm Posted: Feb.17 at 2:00 pm
i bet gerald green or james white can do this….EASILY.

Blake is a beast, a big beast…in terms of standing vertical leap….35.5 inch, and can work at that altititude. I’m a Laker fan, so FYI, Shannon Brown has a 44 inch vertical leap, and Jordan Farmar (Nets) has a 42 inch. If you want a good laugh check out what Bird’s and Magic’s verical leaps were…..

People forgot Andre Iguodala scrapped his face on the backboard in the dunk contest he was cheated out of in 06

    Backboard got head? Wow!

  • Garrett Posted: Feb.17 at 3:18 pm
Shawn Kemp had to get stitches because he cut his head open on the rim in his rookie year against the Kings.

guys hittin your head on the backboard is not a hard thing to do.. not many make it look as beastly as griffin but as for actually hittin your head on the backboard? not a huge accomplishment.. im only six foot tall and iv hit my head on the backboard before after catchin an oop (the most awesome 2 points of my whole career might i add) but still if a six foot dude can do it then every cat in the nba should be doin it.. but nonetheless griffin is a beast

  • Michael Posted: Feb.17 at 5:21 pm
Theres a few dudes who can get there noggin to the rim. Like Allday said, D12 can kiss that b*tch.

  • Dagger Posted: Feb.17 at 6:08 pm
C_Cantrell: the backboard is almost level with the rim. If you can hit the rim as a 6-footer with your forehead you belong in Team Flight Brothers.

  • c_cantrell Posted: Feb.17 at 6:40 pm
^dagger.. no my friend it is not level with the rim.. no i cannot hit my head on the rim.. and hell no (even tho i do have somewhat hops) i do not even belong in the same discussion as TFB

  • Omar Posted: Feb.17 at 7:57 pm
c_Cantrell: How did you hit your head on the backboard and finish the oop? And I’m pretty sure Blake can hit his head on the rim.

  • Ugh Posted: Feb.17 at 8:42 pm
Most backboards are at 8’6″, but NBA backboards are (I believe) 9′.If Blake is 6’10″ with a 35″ vertical (which is measured in a straight up jump, no run up), he can hit his head on the backboard just by springing straight up. Everyone jumps higher with a run up because of the momentum, so that vertical leap increases dramatically on a fast break. It’s really not that big a deal.

Joe Alexander, who’s not even in the league anymore, can hit his nose on the rim from a standing jump. It was on YouTube, from when he was warming up for the dunk contest.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Feb.17 at 9:20 pm
    Where is Joe Alexander now?

  • Ugh Posted: Feb.17 at 11:37 pm
D-League’n it up. He was waived by the Hornets in November, he’s now with a team in Texas.
He’s only 6’8″, by the way.

Ugh…. No backboard in the world is at 8’6 unless the rim is @ 9 ft.

  • Ugh Posted: Feb.18 at 3:17 am
Well, if you like you can take that statement out of what I said and keep the rest. Makes no difference to me, or my point.

  • John Dough Posted: Feb.18 at 5:03 am
@Seth lol, that was a great film.

  • jerome Posted: Feb.18 at 8:24 am
@Anti-crust: No, if you want a real laugh go to youtube and watch Larry Bird score 60 vs the Hawks then just imagine Shannon Brown or Jordan Farmer (whose vertical isn’t close to 42 inches…come on now dude) attempting to guard him. Now that’s a laugh!

  • c_cantrell Posted: Feb.18 at 11:46 am
    ^omar..
it was all in one single motion bud.. and yes of course griffin can hit his head on the rim
