Video: Kemba Walker Drops McGhee, Game-Winner

UConn’s Kemba Walker hit another game-winning shot. This time, it was against the No. 1 seed in the Big East Tourney, complete with a crossover step-back that sent Gary McGhee crumbling to the floor boards. Big East POY? Checkmate.

there are a lot of ways to lose a game.
There are not many worse than that.
Good gracious. nasty stepback, hesitation and then the Manu-jumpback to finish it off. Still don’t understand why that big dude didn’t help and recover back to his man instead of switching.

most lethal step back EVER, he hit Balbay with one of those earlier this season, but man Mcghee just got broke off something vicious. He played it how you have to play it, if he switched back he would’ve just ran over his own man and left a gaping lane for Kemba at the basket…..just got trapped on that island, not a pretty place to be

    Disgust.

  • toinefan88

geez why would you switch on that?

  • http://slamonline Allenp

    Black Kamla
Nah, look at his man. His teammate was hedging back to switch back to Walker and let him recover to his man. He stayed on Walker too long instead of showing hard, making Walker change his angle, then sprinting back to his man. I mean, It’s not like the big men is going to kill you with a quick three, right?
He got caught up in the moment, and got done.

  • http://slamonline Allenp

In fact, his teammate doesn’t even really get picked, and he never even shows hard on the pick and is already opening up as soon as the pick comes.
Maybe tha’ts how they play picks, I don’t know because I don’t watch games. But it looked like his teammate was not expecting the switch and was fighting under the screen.
If the big dude had jumped out hardhe could have ran back to the other man, and let his teammate guard Walker.
    That’s bad defense.

way to leave your big man out to dry on that one, pitt. and gary mchee still looks like brittney griner.

  • http://slamonline.com SpaceJam

That was one of the nastiest step backs I’ve ever seen. He completely broke his ankles. And then he got like 8 feet of separation from the defender. Terrible way to lose a game. Kid gone tear it up in the NBA

  • Saku 39

Unless he plays like a CP3-like distributing PG (which I think he can be excellent), Kemba will be another Randy Foye in the NBA.

The guard totally left McGee out to dry. He barely got screened and didn’t try at all to fight over it. He should have physically grabbed mcgee to let him know he was back. Mcgee did the right thing by not leaving the ball, unfortunately Kemba hit him with an awesome move. That was a Latrell Sprewell type stepback. He used to hop from foul line back to the 3 point line. lol
