Hell, this could very well be the block of the decade, as McGee just snatched the dunk attempt out of mid-air (word to LaPhonso Ellis):

Man the Wiz ended up getting run out of the gym. Bad enough they’re young and very inexperienced. But now they are next-level decimated by the injury bug, to the little bit of talent they have.
BUT all that said… this block was otherworldly.
One of the best blocks I have ever seen.
I never seen it but i know its sic.
I remember Vince Carter back in the day did something similar. Literally just caught the ball in the midair.
It’s a block AND a steal.
son you better put them car keys back!
he should have gotten a tech for that mean mug right there. Dwight will never get away with that
what is better than owned? whatever it is….thats it right there
reminds me of when some dude tried to shoot over charles barkley from the the block and chuck just jumps straight up and grabs the ball in mid-air as it hits its apex n then begins the fast break.. dude was something else.. but props to mcgee, this more than makes up for those horrible free throw line dunk attempts earlier in the season
honestly, i don’t know if i’ve ever seen a better block.
Sick sick block. I sure wish he was wearing a Knicks uni. All this kid needs is a work ethic and some good guidance. He gonna be a problem on d.
if dwight did that more often … The magic would when more games
can’t find it but cwebb did it in his rookie years in golden state
kg in the western conference finals against…i forget who did something similar. not to take anything away from this
Oh my goodness! That’s just insane!!! Stare down the man trying that stuff
too bad he’s a knucklehead.
That’s one of the nastiest blocks I’ve ever seen!
I’m having nightmares. I can’t imagine what Wes Matthews is seeing.
JaVale makes some really nice plays, he just needs to chill with all the posturing, especially when his team is getting blown out.
no he needs to show heart whether his team is winning or losing
love this guy
That’s how you clean up an attempt….Mr. Erasermate…..
wasn’t a dunk, he didn’t even touch the rim.
Oh sorry, thought this was slam of the day, that is how close they usually get to ‘dunking’
@C_cantrell Not sure how your comment relates to mine. Staring a guy down after blocking his shot is not showing heart. Nor is hanging on the rim and screaming after a dunk in the 4th quarter of a 15 point loss. Playing hard and tough and not taking any crap for 48 minutes is how you show heart.
I feel like SLAM is sending me a subliminal shout out with the LaPhonso Ellis reference for, the other day I called Tyler Hansbrough LaPhonso Ellis Jr. lol (ahem, as I clear my throat)
Also, that block by McGee has me on his bandwagon. We can only imagine what kind of… skill it takes, along with natural gifts to do that.
He’s going to be a very good player, in my opinion.
Props to Javale . Boy got a real attitude problem !! Lovin it.
I think everyone is forgetting that Kareem was one of the very first ones to do this, if not THE very first. Look it up.
thank you for the Laphonso Ellis reference. Exactly what I thought after I saw McGee’s block. Anyway, block of the year indeed, wow.
Very nice block indeed but I wouldn’t go as far as “block of the decade” we have 9 3/4 years to go to decide that!
I think they meant of the past decade, idiot.
That was so gangsta! All he needed to do is bust out the “Hakeem Not In My House” shaking his finger salute. Im just saying, like Holy Baller said. Pay Homage young SkyWalker.
Great name, too.
amazing block….but javale’s biggest highlight he will ever have is his mom making out with dr. j!
@Josh- Idiot huh, did it says past decade? Learn how to read dummy! Assuming made you look like an ASS. I hope you know what a decade is!!!
Forgive me, y’all, I can’t see the video at work, but did he just catch the ball in midair?
Cause that’s done all the time, actually.
Unless dude went up REALLY high to get it, and again I’m not able to see it, I don’t think it’s the “block of the year”.
Does that count a FGA or TO? I mean I feel bad for the Blazer but DAMN! He might never ever be able to live that one down. EVER! I just picture his next family reunion! EVER EVER!
He cupped the shot. Its not block of the year, and is actually what more players should start doing. I always teach young bigs to block with two hands and to either keep the ball in play, or catch it. That’s if they jump, but still this should be more regular then it is.
smh @nbk…because everybody is cupping shots out of the air these days. Great block!!!
didn’t say it was bad or anything. Its a great block, but its not block of the year IMO
JaVale then tried effortlessly and shamelessly to register nine more blocks of the year, 10 rebounds and 10 points.
Dwight did this a couple of years ago. McGee’s was more impressive though. Dwight caught a floated. McGee erased a dunk.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GISDKqmkFbk&feature=related Jordan’s block as a Wizard on Ron Mercer is great too.
Here’s that video of Barkley if anyone wants to watch it. It’s about 1/2 way through a compilation video.
nothing wrong with showing some passion bro.. more players need to show some passion as well
laphonso ellis,c-webb,and smith stopped..smith stopped…smith stopped agiain by pippen
laphonso’s was one of a kind;
this was very nice.
Laphonso’s is the best of all time. Though Manute Bol’s 4 in a row is right up there too.
count it as a block and a steal
c_cantrell: about showing passion: when a player shows passion, he gets a T.
I think I read somewhere that McGee got a block and a rebound out of this.
The year is not over…
I like Maxiell’s block on Chandler in 2008
nothing beats LaPhonso Ellis block but this is the next best thing to it. GREAT BLOCK!
Whoo!!! JaVale did the damn thang!!!!
YOWZERS. If only he showed that kind of defensive presence more consistently
@ C_C, u can’t show emotion because of the Sternbot.
