Video: Paul Pierce Rises High for the Dunk

Boston.com’s Julian Benbow sent out a pretty funny tweet immediately after Paul Pierce threw down this dunk last night. “I still wonder what Paul Pierce had to give up to get back the hops he had when he was 24.”

Nice flush, Captain. And that was only 3 steps, not 5!

  • Felix

Paul needs to do that more often. I also like his white sneaks and the away unis w/white trim.

  • rich

he is in much better shape this season that is undeniable. he was clearly motivated to be there for his team

  • flipnoyce

    keep doing your thing Pdouble!

@Will lmao….but no travel here. Its called a two step drop, the last staggered ‘step’ isn’t really a step, its the equivalent of a pivot because his plant foot remains down. So it would’ve been the same had it been just a two foot plant. No travel here.

What he had to give up?
Julian Benbow must not see all too well.
Truth is as slim as he’s ever been early in his career.
Whole Nba is slimming down to limit wear on the joints / get the hops and stamina back.
(Well except Dwight, who i suspect accentuates his physique by wearing two uniform sizes too small for his frame :-)

    @Darksaber completely agree

Steps?..you talk’n ’bout steps?…Who doesn’t travel in the L? Since it was PDouble the dunk wasn’t that good, he didn’t get up as high as (input your fave player. lol) He gave up his soul…blah blah blah. I know some are joking but there are others that just can’t accept the fact that he IS a top player and has been for a long time. Even I as a C’s fan once said that he had to do what he does when the games counted and that it’s easy to be a “top” player when your team stinks. I said I thought he could then he went out and continued to be The TRUTH even after we got top players. Another nice dunk..keep hating and drinking that Celtic Green Haterade. lol The conditioning and mindset of Ray really helps plus the motivation of a Ring.

  • ab40

that was a travel and what he had to give up was 15 pounds of fat he lost over the last three years since being inspired by that ray allen chap

  • blackthougth

paul traded antoine “where`s the whopper” walker 4 ray “i´m ripped” allen. and p-double might never be vince carter, when it comes 2 dunkin`, but he`s one of the most compleet players you`ll find in this league.

@TBRK Thats clearly a travel dude. He picks up the ball and takes 1 step with his left foot, then 2 more steps. 3 steps is a travel.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

my point is the last step isn’t technically a step, it would be if his other foot was off the ground but it wasn’t. In technicality it was a pivot. So this would be no different taking one step with the left foot and then going off two feet. Anyways somebody should submit this to NBATV and see what Ronnie Nunn says.. I’m certain I’m right

  • BostonBaller

Back in the REAL day, any more than 2 steps was a travel. None of this hop, crab, skip stuff. In my eyes it’s a travel but to the world of today it’s not. EVERYONE takes 3 steps and it’s not called therefore it is not a travel. It’s not a big deal, the dunk was still nice.

@BostonBaller those moves are as old as the game itself bro
