Video: Von Wafer Gets Confused

Von Wafer made one of the worst, most hilarious plays of the season last night (and may have cost Boston a win):

Wafer got caught in JaVale McGee’s field of basketball idiocy. Even when dude isn’t blocking shots he’s affecting the game.

He had so many bonehead plays at the end of the game and OT it was ridiculous! He gets fouled and misses 1 out of 2 leaving the door open. The Wiz miss and he bobbled the rebound out of bounds. He then gives up the tying jumper to Crawford.

In OT he blows that dunk, though he made it and proceeds to pose for the camera under the basket, then he realized he missed and runs back on the court right into JO causing him to double dribble.

He should never wonder why he’s glued to the bench.

how do you not realise you missed the dunk?

  • Ses

    Dumbass! lol FAIL!

…ugh not like we NEEDED a two at the end of that benchfest .. and El Delonte fell back too. Not a Great Night really .. but HOW does a 6’2″ Wafer knock over a 7’1″ O’neal ??
    LeonPowe..LeonPowe..Leon Powe..whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy not?!

Didn’t he also miss a bad dunk against the C’s when he was playing in Houston a couple of years ago?
Also trade him for Jordan Crawford so the Wizards IQ drops even more!

  • T-Money

I’ve watched this 10 times and I still don’t understand how he could possibly not know that he missed it.

Sadly, this gives more ammo to the folks who disparage the common sense and decorum of the modern athlete. Even I couldn’t help but think “You look so stupid you @ssclown” when this happened, and I tend to be the last person to go there with players.
Just a horrible basketball play. Dude might have cost himself a job next year.

I totally didn’t realize that he was posing after he missed last night. That is too funny. I kind of felt bad for him because he seemed to mess things up every single time he touched the ball. He has some great facial expressions though.

And that’s why he rides the pine most nights.

  • Jono

just lay the damn thing in

  • Fat Lever

In a related story, the Wizards have offered Wafer a 5 year/$30M contract.

I’m a bit confused….if he dislodged the ball from JO by banging into him, how is that a double dribble? If you dribble, pick up the dribble, have it stripped and pick it back up, you can dribble it again. Confounding.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Your own teammate can’t knock the ball away so you can dribble again, I guess.
I imagine it’s like the offense not being able to advance a fumble at certain times in football.

  • Riggs

    I’m speechless.

I guess because it happens so infrequently it’s hard to think about it in literal terms, Allen. I guess that rule makes sense though. To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I saw that situation in a game happen on any level.

  • RobbieJay

this is was happens whe nyour last name is a type of cookie

  • harlem_world

Why is he still in the League? Seriously. There are hundreds (if not thousands) of players just as good (if not better) who would do more with the opportunity than this clown. I’ve seen him get stuck on the rim a few times while playing for Houston too. He should be playing overseas…WAY overseas. Man, that injury to Daniels looks worse every game for the C’s.

  • JTaylor21

Notice how JO wasn’t even mad, he knew that he wasn’t making that shot anyways.

  • http://www.twitter.com/dfrance21 dfrance21

    @ Eboy

He didn’t really knock it out of JO’s hand tho. He bumped him and it knocked JO off balance and his natural instinct made him dribble as not to travel, hence the double dribble.

  • 6marjons

shouldnt go out there showboating like a fool. act like a dunk is no big deal and people will respect you more anyway

  • javy

@ Eboy: JO had already dribbled once and after Wafer’s idiot moment in the NBA, he caused for JO to dribble again.
Very simple play and obvious call!!

This move represents the same move in the office when they traded Perkins!
Doc River’s opened the door, knocking Ainge over as he was ready to sing a trade which involved Wafer but instead, he wrote Perkins!!

  • Heals

Saw it live and I can only imagine what went thru Doc’s mind watching that. Still easier to wrap my head around then the Baby block on Jv McG…

It was more so the celebration after the missed dunk that did it for me.

  • money

yeah, the way he posed he thught he made it…thats why dudes like him dont make it in europe. he a low basketball IQ player!

I guess the showboat crashed! #FAIL
