Video: adidas Better Axe Somebody

adidas takes aim at the Jordan Fly Wades.

by Chris O’Leary / @olearychris

Dwyane Wade and LeBron James got past Derrick Rose and into the finals Thursday night, but that’s not stopping adidas from taking one last shot at their main man’s main rivals.

adidas’ fourth and final video in their series of competition call outs centers on Wade’s shoe, the Jordan Fly Wade. If the headline didn’t give away what happens here, let me be a little more blunt, short of outright telling you what you’re gonna see: adidas goes medieval on the shoe to hammer its final point home.

Again, the adiZero Crazy Light is available everywhere June 3 and you can reserve a pair of the shoes now at the adidas shop.

Those shoes look worse than Shaqs!

I think the black ones look ok.

These ads are just annoying. When Adidas makes a shoe I can play in without having to worry about injuring myself, maybe I’ll put up with a commercial like that.

Nike has always been better than Adidas to me.

I suprised they didn’t hire two douchebags and make a commercial that goes like this:

Adidas Guy: Hi I’m a Adidas
Nike Guy: Hi I’m a Nike

Weren’t these the shoes that Derrick Rose sprained his ankle in in the Indiana series. I’d go with the Jordan Fly Wades

When I read this headline, I immediately want to respond, “…on how we flip the script, come to a Tribe show and watch the 3 kids rip”.

  • ripslam

@cball, yup, and shortly afterward he went back to his AdiZero 1.5′s, lol.

I balled in Fly Wades the other day, and they do seem pretty heavy, even compared to other Jordans, despite being the “lightest”, it’s probably just the Air Max though. To be honest, I’m getting a little sick of the excessive lightness in shoes, I want better injury protection.

Come on these few gramms will not make a difference.
Equipment is not as important as your game but these adds try to sell that.
I allways think of Billy from `white men can’t jump’ when I see something like this.

@cball and ripslam: i was thinking the exact same thing, i just don’t know many people noticed. That could turn into some very bad pub for adidas. maybe nike can make a comercial about it.

adidas best bet: stick to soccer. You’ll never win over the basketball market with your wack ass shoes. Everyone knows adidas mess up your feet and offer $hitty protection. I’d go with one of those china joints before messing with adidas. D Rose need to bounce to Nike.

  • robb

@@cball and ripslam don’t forget Darren Collison. He injured his ankle in these too. Adidas stop it.

  • Jono

    nike > li-ning > adidas > peak > reebok

  • DS44

The guy who wears these is playing in the NBA finals!
