Video: Dirk Nowitzki Hits the Game-Winning Layup

And we’ve got ourselves a series.

Dirk Nowitzki told the world not to sweat the finger injury on his left hand prior to last night, and then went out and won Game 2 of the NBA Finals using that very hand (and defended Dwyane Wade on Miami’s final, desperate attempt.)

Great move. Bad D. Game over. Good for Dirk.

dirk should have flipped off miami with his hurt middle finger after this shot.

    Bow down to the KAISER.
(actually, Beckenbauer already owns this nicname but i’m stealing it for Dirk this postseason)

LMAO at D-WAD3. That flop wasn’t a foul.

wtf, is Bosh doing on Nowitzki, it should be Haslem.

    LIKE A BO$H!!

I dont think haslem wouldve helped the case any, it was just a good move by dirk I think he wouldve faked anyone out tbh.

  • riggs

I actually thought wade’s bucket was gonna go in because the man has a history of making deflating a*s shots like that lol.

  • borges

Nowitzki is da man, Dallas is the team to beat.

After seeing this replay on Nbatv, my girl asked me why Nowitzki wasn’t mean mugging and celebrating, Nba-Style. I told her, “cause the man is on a mission.”
I mean look at how he’s standing there as his teammates all run up to him to thump him in excitement. Apart from staring at DeShawn, he took all that celebrating in stride. TBH, i wouldn’t have been surprised if he had yawned.

I mean Darrell Armstrong nearly punched Dirk’s right shoulder off, that’s how pumped they all were. Even the lady who stepped up was beaming and looking for a handshake, and D is shrugging it all off.
Man, those moments are just sweet, effing sweet.

    I like this.

Really? On the most important defensive stop of the season, Slostra decides to go with Chris Freaking Bosh on Dirk when he has Joel, Bron and Haslem at his disposal. Also please take the foul when you have a foul to give, it’s only common sense. I’ve seen too many teams lose because they failed to take the foul.

Watch Digles shuffle his left foot outside the 3pointline at 3 seconds. Turrible refs. Turrible :-)

AQWord. What about the numerous missed travel violations on the Heat before dunks. I mean you can’t seriously expect that call.

  • bike

So Bosh says to Dirk as he is defending him ‘go ahead, take that left handed layup wit you gimpy-a** finger, I dare ya, go on you big hairy ….oh crap….’

But hey it’s Dirk Nowitzki,a humble and focused ballplayer.
He knows that he can’t celebrate because he’s been there and had a nightmare.
Dirk, Germany is hoping and wishing, that you can take it this time.

co sign saber the first 2 lines. Dirk now. the ANti-Lebron. lebron’s on a mission to showcase his talents. not win.

  • Nigel

Gotta love Dirk’s walk after that shot.

This was one of the best, most exciting games I’ve ever seen. What a thriller!

  • Atsushi

Dirk is so focused, even when he would make the gamewinner in game 7, he wouldnt jump around like LeBron and Wade.
Since the first playoff game he is my go-to-guy.
0% arrogance! 100% heart for the game!

    like a bosh

Nicolas . I wasn’t expecting it . I just noticed it, even though it happened at a key moment of the game, then jokingly Chuck’ed it. Don’t get your pantieh0es in a twist my son. Bron aint the only 1.

Remember how russell westbrook got killed for not shaking hands at the end of the last mavs-thunder game? The whole heat team just sauntered off, no handshakes, nothing. its a tough loss and all but if such noise was made over westbrook, why not the heat?

  • http://www.twitter.com/dfrance21 DFrance21

Adam why would they shake hands after game 2? The series is not over. Westbrook got killed because it was the end of the series. And it was a great move by Dirk, don’t kill Bosh over it. After that spin he probably expected a pull up, not a drive to the rack, so he paused for a second. Don’t think Haslem or Bron, or Anthony would have fared much better.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

adam, players never shake hands before the end of a series.

  • Dagger

Wow Adam, are you serious? lol!

  • adam

No i genuinely didn’t know that. i just though it was custom at the end of any game regardless of what stage your at, my bad, i just couldn’t understand.

  • J

#1 Miami should of used the foul to give. But the honest truth is it dont matter who they would on Dirk he was determined to score that last basket and he did just that.

    @ Eboy

,How do you like em apples???

    It’s all good, adam.
