Video: Ricky Rubio Arrives in Minnesota, Hits the Court

Fresh off of a 20-hour flight from Spain, Ricky Rubio hit the gym to show the world what he’s made of saying, “I came here to play basketball, and that’s what I’m gonna do.”

    Minnesota didn’t roll out the red carpet for him like they did for Bosh, James, and Wade in Miami. A mediocre record gets a mediocre welcome. Good luck young sir.

    Call me crazy but I think this kid may be allright. Look at lil JJ. He gave the Westbrooks of the league fits in the playoffs. Once Rubio gets the benefit of NBA workouts/gyms he may pan out.

    I can see him struggling a little at first, but in time he can be a great player. Also, I don’t get the hate on his jumper, there are players in the NBA now with worse jumpers that are successful. As a total aside, as someone with a big nose and terrible hair, I’m happy to see someone else with a big nose and terrible hair fulfil his dream!

    If he was an unheralded prospect with the same skill-set he could come in and take people by surprise, but after all the hype and press I feel sorry for Ricky. The Kenyon Martin’s of the league are going to try to scare the crap out of him right off the bat.

    That flight was delayed for 2 years. He’s a good young man, off and on the court. Humble, pass-first, any big would love having Rubio tee up a few lobs. He made some ordinary bigs in Europe look extremely good.

    Probably wasn’t a direct trip from Spain to Minny if it was 20 hours. Most likely he transferred in from Los Angeles or New York or something. I mean, come on, does Minneapolis really have direct flights to Barcelona?!

    I flew to New York from Barcelona on Sunday. It’s an 8 hour flight. Don’t know where they’re getting 20 hours from. It takes 20 hours to fly from NYC to Melbourne, Australia, which is one of the longest direct flights possible – I don’t see Rubio doing stopovers, do you?

    Zero elevation on his jump shot. Okay handle. Not strong at all. No upside whatsoever. Obvious low ratio of fast-twitch to slow-twitch muscle fibers. I just don’t see any reason for hype.
