Video: Dennis Rodman’s 2011 Hall of Fame Speech

It’s the Worm’s turn.

As you probably heard about by now, Dennis Rodman was inducted into the Hall of Fame tonight, and with these on his feet, the Worm took the stage and made the emotional speech above. Congrats, Dennis!

Thanks Slam (and Jose3030) for this Clip, missed the airing.
Okay Ahmad, what deal with the devil did you make to keep looking the same for 15+ years?
Also that crossover-pumpfake-spin/pivot tplayup Hakeem put on the Admiral at the beginning of the Vid? Goosebumps.
Congrats to the Worm. Well deserved honour.
Loved the emotion, Dennis has always been a complex guy. Great seeing how he interacted with PJ, Scottie..
“wanna thank Stern and the NBA community to even just let me in the building….sh*t…heheh…”
    Dennis Rodman, unique as always.

  • biged

i didn’t know rodman was only 6’6, i though he was bigger, he played bigger. nOT A happy ending to the speech

My favorite HoF speech ever. I almost teared up. I believed every word he said, and I regret not being more of a Rodman fan when I was younger. What a great speech. Wow.

  • Waskito

Never imagined that I will be so touched by rodman speech. The honesty is there….

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

With all the jewellery, makeup, costumes, hair dye and tattoos there is nothing artificial about Dennis Rodman. Is anyone ever going to give a more candid speech in the Hall of Fame?

  • http://www.twitter.com/gerardhimself Gerard Himself

a great speech. Never saw anything like this.

  • John

One of my favorite players growing up (Barkley and Payton being among the others). Man, how much would it suck to get locked down by a dude that dresses in drag off the court?

  • http://nba.com GP23

    Wow !! Incredible speech.

  • http://www.facebook.com/joe.l.brewer3 BlackPhantom

That speech was simply amazing. Probably one of the best Hall of Fame speeches ever.

Phil Jacksons face when rodman is walking towards the stage is classic “What the hell is he wearing…*slow clap*”

  • dahon

  • ogog

that was one of the greatest speeches EVER

  • tuxo

    great speech. just wow.

  • rob stewart

That speech was sad. He revealed how broken hi relationships have been his entire life. You can tell he’s hurt alot of people. This is proof that money, fame, prestige, and attention can never replace true love and support in one’s life. I hope/pray things can turn around for Dennis. The H.O.F. shrinks in comparison to family and healthy relationships

Damn! Rodman almost made this grown man tear up. I bet he tugged on just about every1′s heart. He poured his heart out there. A true, sincere speech. Congrats again, Dennis. And I sincerely hope everything turns out for the best for him.

  • robb

God bless basketball and God bless Dennis Rodman. This was incredible.

  • Marco

    wow, I wish him happiness

  • http://www.boogiewilliams.com Boing Dynasty

Bad son, bad father, bad husband, bad person in general, great rebounder, weird speech.

  • http://slamonline.com AllDayEveryDay

@Boing Dynasty, It’s nice to know you’re such a better person than the rest of us that you are able to judge a person you don’t even know personally and say he’s a bad person. You’re cool dude.

  • MLK4Life

You have to love this guy.

  • Overtime

    09- Jordan
    10- Pippen
    11- Rodman

  • treetrunks

i never heard someone being so honest in front of so many people..great speech..@Boing Dynasty: i think if most people were that honest about themselves, they wouldn’t look much better than Dennis; think about it, all the bullsh*t we’ve all done..especially by the time we reach 50

  • http://NBA.com/bulls The Babe

Rodman is a cool dude, just straight up genuine. Loved his game.

  • amazing speech

Damn, that speech was incredible (and that may be putting it lightly). You could just feel the emotion pouring out of Rodman’s soul. Just an amazing speech. Congrats Dennis!

  • http://www.boogiewilliams.com Boing Dynasty

Im not judging anybody, im just taking the man at his word. If he says hes a bad son/husband/father who am i to disagree? Maybe you sould step away from the compter & finish your cry. Then try again later when your a tad less emotional. Okay sport?

  • slamfan4life

  • http://dsjfklfl.com Jukai

Boing Dynasty: So what, are you just repeating what Rodman said then? Great comment buddy, you always bring so much to the comment section. Great job.

  • Brahsef

@Boing Hater ni**as marry hater b***hes and have hater kids. Man has his flaws but keeps fightin. Great speech.

  • http://www.boogiewilliams.com Boing Dynasty

Smells like estrogen in here, you ladies are quite sensitive on weekends.

  • Carole Rerko

Raw emotion! I have watched the video at least 3 times now and admire Dennis for opening his heart and soul and exposing us to the “Real Rodman”. I grew to love him on Celebrity Rehab. That program revealed a side to him I never knew existed and this speech confirms the reality.
I hope and pray you find peace and learn to live with any mistakes you’ve made and move forward with all the love you expressed in your speech! God bless you, Dennis.

  • bashmo

Phil Jackson is one crazy looking individual.

  • robb

@Boing Dynasty whatever you say tough guy, whatever you say.

  • http://dsjfklfl.com Jukai

Boing Dynasty rules the internet with iron glad scrawny fists.

  • Chukaz

i wish he had taken this seriously and put on a suit. i get it bro ur a colorful individual but would it kill you to clean up just this one time? the guy kept saying he didn’t deserve to be there and the days leading to the ceremony and then he shows up in this? smh i don’t give a sh*t either way but i think it a suit woulda been nice. and why was everyone on stage wearing sneakers? rodman and phil had sneakers. and rodman was wearing jeans. they should have a dress code

  • angus

that was um..interesting, but way to go dennis congrats!

  • Jamaal87

    @Boing Dynasty…

Are men not allowed to be emotional??

    What is this the 1950′s??!!

  • larrylegend

rodamn is honest, something most/all can’t afford. don’t be jelous, he lives his live with all ups and downs. he’s
    human, i know, that’s scary for y’all

  • rob stewart

you are absolutely correct. Most of us do need to be honest with ourselves, it’s a very hard thing to do. And heaven knows I’M TOTALLY SCARED of becoming a self proclaimed bad father, husband, and son. I love Dennis as a player and even his honesty, but this reminds me of those seatbelt commercials from back in the day that say “you can learn alot from a dumby”. That being said my prayers go out to Dennis and Fam.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

wow @boing dynasty …way to be a douche

  • http://www.danchamb.com.br Lz – Cphfinest3

Dennis Rodman is f*ucking unf*uckwitable – great speech, greater player.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Jay

I cant imagine what happeneds when Allen Iverson goes in and does a speech that will probably change a lot of peoples minds, and make a lot of people feel bad AI will have the most epic Hall of Fame speech of all time in any sport, Dennis was amazing last night but I can’t wait for AI’s speech

  • larrylegend

i will never post again drunk at 6 a.m…..

  • Enigma

I’ve always respected Rodman and even more so now for being the talented imperfect unique human being he is.

  • http://www.boogiewilliams.com Boing Dynasty

Lol. hater/tough guy/douchebag – for more/less reiterating the mans own words, you guys are just too precious.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

I knew he was gonna cry, cause dude ALWAYS cries when he receives an accolade/award/honor, whatever.
But for him to open up THAT MUCH in front of the world? Nah, I didn’t see that coming. Almost felt like we were all listening to stuff we shouldn’t be.

  • Animalxxx13

Iverson does not deserved HOF status, just a normal streetball player who never won anything.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/online/other-ballers/international/2010/03/flight-75-dc-to-moscow/ Mitya

Hold on, last I heard, AI won a several scoring titles, an MVP, and carried his team to the Finals – so trophy-wise he’s on the same level with Barkley.

  • http://WWW.SLAMONLINE.COM joooo

we all now know that Jamaal87 is gay.

Whoa! A.I. doesn’t deserve HOF status? Haha! I would like 2 hear the argument that supports that. There is a diff between being a hater and being rational.

  • http://slamonline.com 1982

Respect on so many different levels.

  • http://360special.blogspot.com/ dev0

Interesting speech. I love his honesty but it’s strange that he used his HOF induction as a platform for confession. He could have done that privately. The speech was emotional and from the heart, and we all appreciate that, but don’t you wish he’d talked about basketball and his NBA career at least a little bit?

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Co-sign HAMMER. And joooo is obviously Boing Dynasty.

Did he say his dad has 47 Kids?

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

RESPECT. I used to wear jersey number 91 back in my high school days because of this guy: 97-99. Loved him.

Dennis Rodman and Toni Kukoc were my favourite Bulls players (of course mad respect for Scottie and the Goat but…) growing up.

  • junkjames

AI is absolutely the BEST small man ever in the league. You are crazy not to think what he did in his career is worthy of the HOF. He will get in the first year he is eligible. Dude, don’t let your hate cloud your brain

  • Animalxxx13

Perhaps a bronze Olympic medal is enough for AI to get into HOF? You must be kidding, and pls don’t compare him with sir Charles. He has a GOLD medal.

  • http://hoopistani.blogspot.com hoopistani

WOW! What a great speech… And thanks for all the memories Dennis!

  • Bonnie

    VERY touching speech Dennis….

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

I like how the camera goes to his mom to show her emotion. Then he starts talking about how she never hugged him and loved him and it just doesn’t go back to show her ever again lol. Great HOF speech by the Worm. One of the greatest winners in NBA history.

  • RG

Best all-around defensive player in the history of the game. Who else could lock down all five positions? No one.
