Video: Gary Forbes Drops 78 at Hartford Pro-Am

The Nuggets swingman goes off.

A couple of nights ago, Nuggets swingman Gary Forbes went wild at the Hartford Pro-Am, scoring 78 points off 13 three-pointers. The footage we have above isn’t great, but the general idea is obvious—dude was hitting from all over the court. UConn’s Jeremy Lamb reportedly dropped 58, as his squad (the Springfield Slamm) fell to Forbes’ (the Sparks Auto Body Naughty Boys) by a score of 136-132.

I’ve never seen someone so faked out by a jab step.

There’s a good run in Hartford. Underrated pro-am.

Dude was in a zone. Sometimes when your confidence reaches a certain point, that rim starts looking like a hula-hoop.

    So… 28 threes?

    Horrible defense.

Alright, seriously, somebody had to say it. Sparks Auto Body Naughty Boys?

  • http://www.triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

How is the crowd not even interested in this showing???? No one reacts…. for the 1st 4-7 threes no one even claps…. the last few there was a little bit of attention but seriously…. disrespect. Now if this were 13 slam dunks it would be different…..

    NBA players are no joke.

  • Heals

Spoken like a true hoops head Dacre (prob still plays alot too). @niQ I totally agree, which is why this is in a way kindof unsurprising. I’ve played with guys who rode the bench at D2 or D3 schools and they can light it up in a ridiculous fashion on most days. So even 12th man types are in a sense incredibly talented…

  • Jono

cosign @niQ 100%, went to a ton of nuggets games this year and at some points i thought i should be wearing his number 0 jersey. those fantasies are dead now.

  • EJ

This summer has proved wrong all those sh*t talker streetballers who claim NBA players get schooled in streetball

  • http://www.yomamajokes.com LilKDub503

@Dacre: I beg to differ. Baby Ice got mobbed after raining threes at the Rucker.

no defense? come on the guy was just red hot, you could have put anything you want in his face he would have kept drowing 3s…
78 damned..put some ice on your elbow gary !

catch and shoot. that man was ON

  • High School Hoops Junkie

@ Dacre, you have to understand that the crowd is pro-UConn… and there were 2 or 3 UConn players on the opposing team, including Jeremy Lamb. Half of them are not even true “hoop” fans, so they couldn’t appreciate what was going on. Secondly, there’s a belief that a NBA player is supposed to do things like this against amateurs. A lot of the “fans” in the stands of the Pro-am are young, their idea of being impressed is watching a player break the defender’s ankles rather he scores or not… SMH… This is partly what’s wrong with today’s game.

I’ve rooted for GForbes since his days at UMass. 1up

This lock out is giving us a chance to see what NBA guys look like against civilians and I have to say they look pretty herculean.

  • http://slamonline.com Neitel

The crowd straight up sucks! it’s in plain view to see how no one dares to clap…GB, was on fire, maybe the boring crown needed a spark, but only one dude got up to give respect to GB..this is amazing…let a truck full of bikini girls, ALL hot walk in that gym, and watch how it will get everyone’s attention! If i was there, i would have gone nuts!

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Nearly 40 points on 3′s alone. haha. His stroke isn’t even considered “good” in the NBA.

  • Fred

The crowd liked when Jeremy Lamb did this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHbfxDsHbQE

  • LP

you can tell he was ZONIN’, he was running back the other way after most of those…

  • roybot

big cosigns @niQ and @Deknowz. I always seem to hear the quote “Dang, even I can play better than *insert lowest-echelon NBA player*” but they just don’t see enough of the player to comprehend how talented they are. Watching an NBA player up close and personal is a humbling experience for your everyday-hoopers
