We’ve seen Kobe Bryant on the soccer pitch before, but as the video clip above shows, playing the role of goalkeeper just isn’t his forte at all.

The writer of this article struggles to know anything at all about soccer

Pretty hard to play as a keeper when your body is so engrained to move your legs laterally and use your body to stop movement so you’d have to forgive him on that one….those penalties he took were terrible though. 1 for 3 on penalities is like shooting sub 40% on free throws!

I think its safe 2 say he wont be stopping a Roberto Carlos free kick anytime soon. And by the way, goalkeeping is not many peoples forte. Which is the reason there are few all-time great goalkeepers.

Do goalies have to make their move before they actually know which way the ball is going? Is it sort of like baseball in that regard?

  • HAMMER

They can Teddy, but can only move lateraly and have 2 stay on the goal line. As for the rest of the players, they cannot step in the penalty box until after the penalty is taken. And in that regards, it is similar to b-ball where players can’t step in the paint until the free throw is taken.

teddy: they always guess which way the ball is going to go because there’s enough time to react to a shot.
