Sergei Monya goes off the backboard for the win.

Team Russia defeated Team Macedonia at Eurobasket in Lithuania today, in a contest that helped the Russians move on to the quarterfinals. The win was a dramatic one, coming at the buzzer off this banked-in three-pointer from Russia’s Sergei Monya. Peep the excitement above, courtesy of @outsidethenba.

Bank is open… I hate lucky game winners.

Hahaha, gotta love Pero Antic’s curse tirade in slo-mo after the shot.
This has been one fun Eurobasket and the Macedonian team is for real-real.

@ SLAM! you should at least try and figure out what happened because of the result of the game… It is not that hard. Both of the team go to the quarterfinals, like it is said in the video.

And if you are not as america centric as all the rest of the media (at least major majority) you should at least be so critical and study what is going on in the world. at least basketball wise!! And I am talking from a perspective of a guy that truly loves NBA basketball and has it a hard time cheering even for his own country when we played the US. no harm intended!!

@LakeShow don’t tell me you hated Kobe’s 3 point bank shot back in ’09 against Miami.

Robb, Ya know I didn’t hate that. I actually liked it. Kobe might turn into something special someday. He’s a good project for some team to take on. If not then they should try out this Sergei Monya kid. He can do all the things Kobe can, judging by this video.

Ugh. Spoiler alert. SLAM you could have at least named this article “Buzzer-Beater Decides Russia v Macedonia Game”. I’ve actually been following Eurobasket and was looking forward to this match.

@LakeShow: that “sergei monya” kid already has one nba season (05-06) for the blazers and kings under his belt. no, he couldn’t do all the things kobe can (who can?!)…
