Video: AND 1 Live LA Lights Grand Finale

by Peter Walsh / @goinginsquad

Our friends over at AND 1 made a special guest appearance at the annual LA Lights event out in Jakarta, Indonesia as part of their ongoing world tour, and brought some very special guests along for the trip. AND 1 staples Silk, Hotsauce, Werm and Easy J put on a show for those in attendance with a plethora of dunks, alleys and ankle-breaking handles. Even Dennis Rodman got in on the spectacle with a few no-look passes of his own.

The atmosphere was electric, AND 1 baller Silk said in a phone interview. “Just the amount of people that came out—it was, what, 15-16,000 people out there, standing room only—it was phenomenal,” he explained. “They was ready for us though man, I can’t lie, they was ready for us. That’s all I can say, they was ready, it was crazy. As far as fans and setting, it may have been Top 3 for me ever.”

AND 1 has certainly been making a lot of moves lately, taking their brand of basketball global while signing endorsement deals with some major players. Silk gave me the inside scoop on the future of AND 1: “We got a lot of things on the table right now…We started doing taping for the new show in Africa, while in Angola—we did three games over there. We had the Venezuela trip, five games down there. With the Indonesia trip we got some things bubbling for November and December. Games in the States also. We have a partnership with 50 Cent, and his new energy drink called Street King. Me and some of the guys will be doing an appearance in NYC at one of the major sneaker outlets. We’re shopping the tv show to some networks. We’re trying to write our own ticket and see what the future holds. We’ve been doing a lot internationally and now we’re ready to bring it back to the States, bring it back to the streets and get it back to the way it was.”

Be on the lookout for more AND 1 news and tours as they continue to build their brand both domestically and internationally. In the meantime, check the video above for some highlights from the group’s stop in Indonesia
