Video: Kevin Durant Thinks Kobe Would Beat LeBron 1-on-1

Do you agree?

The LA Times cornered Kevin Durant and a bunch of other NBA players to ask them who they think would win if Kobe Bryant and LeBron James ever played a game of 1-on-1. Most would seem to give the edge to the Black Mamba. Please adjust your lives accordingly.

    Damn! hot reporter.

  • http://aol.com The Iron Lung

No sh!t….. People act like they dont know kobe is the best skilled player in the league. But Lebron is a monster he is just not as skilled as the kobster

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Maybe SLAM should rethink their Top 50 ratings on KD’s words at the end of this.

  • Riggs

If kobe has the ball first, lebron isnt touching it for the rest of the game. If lebron has the ball first then he will lose by half. My reasoning? I have none just like everyone else.

  • flash

    true dat!

  • #6marjons

    heeey melissa

  • AD

lebron is tooo strong for kobe…. if lebron was on clevland, people would pick him in a heartbeat

  • Red Star

@Riggs LMFAO! I agree 1000% and love your reasoning!

  • robb

@AD so according to your logic, Ben Wallace would defeat LBJ 1 on 1, since being stronger gives you the edge right? Kobe, Durant and Melo would defeat Lebron 1 on1. That doesn’t mean they are better players, but 1 on 1? The three of them would win.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

These children act like Lebron has Jared Dudley skills or some sh*t. SMH. What a bunch of fools.

  • http://slamonline.com Tae

Kobe would win. Lebron has no post game so he would try to blow pass Kobe or pull up for jumpers all day…..wont work. Now i would like to see Melo vs. Lebron

  • http://www.slamonline.com UNFROZEN CAVEMAN LAWYER

MELO WOULD TORCH BOTH OF THEM.

  • http://nba.com/celtics lights out

kobe, no question. i love how john wall manages to insult kobe by picking lebron, but also insult lebron by basically saying, yeah, he can win, so long as he doesn’t play like a p—y.

  • bike

LeBron would cream Kobe. No contest. If you knock 5 or 6 years off Kobe it might be closer but LeBron still wins.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Man, ain’t no help defense one-on-one.
So, if you can’t stop somebody from powering over you on the way to the rim, which no one man can do with LeBron, then that person should win.
Kobe is the best one-on-one player, but LeBron is the more dominant physical specimen.
Like Shaq versus Duncan. One had all the post moves, the other was a mountain of human.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Intelligence wins here. Allenp with a TKO.

  • Niio

Love how humble Durant is at the end of the interview. “I am no where near those dudes” And he is right, because how amazing a shooter he is, he don’t have the footwork, posting up, passing and dribble drive skills that Kobe, LeBron and Wade possess.

  • EtheKnickFan

Wasnt gonna look at video til GP23 said “hot reporter” lol. She is, kinda. Wonder if she pulled a Sarah Palin after the interview.

  • MUBWAR

finally some actual reasoning in the form of Allenp

  • http://www.slamonline.com rich

well eboy, dont you think kobe is just gonna keep wrapping him up and forcing him to check up the ball. I wouldnt put it past kobe he has proven he will do anything to win. he would do it until lebron starts shooting jumpers. and if its a chucking contest there is nobody that can beat kobe

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

If Kobe did that, he’s more of a bit*h than his detractors already think he is. Lebron is kind of like Shaq, I doubt being wrapped up is going to bother him, and I think Kobe would get worn down quicker than Bron….there is a 7 year age difference between them. And yes, in a shot for shot contest, Kobe is whipping his a*s, but guess what? The question wasn’t “who would win in a game of horse?” This is a one on one, no one back there to help your slowed knees. It wouldn’t be a blowout of anything like that, but Bron’s speed and strength would be the difference, not the potential accuracy of chucked shots. It’s top of the line pro against top of the line pro’s playing, not kids in the street. If I can get 15 shots in the paint to your 15 shots from out on the perimeter, I like my chances. In this case, using that idea, I’d like Lebron’s too.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Touche Rich, Touche.
If there is any player in the NBA who would resort to wanton fouling to win a one-on-one game, it’s Kobe.
I don’t think anybody doubts that he would do ANYTHING to win that didn’t involve passing or trusting teammates. Lol.

  • http://aol.com The Iron Lung

How many regular ballers get blown by everytime when playing 1 on 1? So Why would a 10 time 1st team all defense get blow by everytime. And Kobe aint Javale Mcgee or Durant when it comes to strenth. He is kinda big too

  • Mo

At this stage in Kobe’s career (still one of the top players in the league), he aint beating Bron in a one-on-one. He probably won’t beat D-Wade either. They both play pretty good defense on Kobe. But Kobe would have a hard time checking somebody as big and strong as Lebron one-on-one.

  • http://www.slamonline.com rich

no perimiter player is kinda big compared to lebron

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Kobe’s 210. Lebron’s 250. There’s a huge gap there with such little difference in their height.

  • LA Huey

Haha. Rich has a good point. It’s things like that I’m going to miss about Mamba when he finally hangs up his sneakers. Dude’s personality is so ridiculous it seems fictional.

  • LA Huey

And LeBron regularly abuses Artest who has a reputation as a defensive bully. What’s 2011 Kobe going to do to stop him?

  • james

lmao i love seeing the kobe haters scurry like roaches to disprove durant’s opinion

  • fruizm

nice reporter!!…also, nice hair Matt Barnes haha, and finally, is this one on one game really happening??

  • yumad

nothing more hilarious than waking up and reading the kobe-hater comments

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

But, I would pay to watch this for real. Because, honestly, LeBron might not be able to guard Kobe either.

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

Didn’t Lebron lose to a fan in a game of on-on-one? Or was that horse?

  • LA Huey

A few NBA cats got beat by kids in knock-out in their camps this summer.

  • Yesse

This isn’t really news. It’s true anyway.

  • http://www.twitter.com/_dfrance dfrance21

I’d defintely love to watch it. Kobe is the type of player to foul you just enough to steal the ball from you or cause you to miss, but at the same time make you look like a p*ssy for calling it. He’d be all over Lebrons wrist while he dribbles. I can see him getting under LeBrons skin quick. But if lebron is all business and just lowers that shoulder and drives everytime, I don’t see how he loses.

  • Samco

    ya THINK?

Both of them would win sometimes.

  • http://dillanleuyahoo.com Holy Baller

Ever heard of taking a charge? LeBron CAN overpower Kobe any second, you’re right, but if he did all Kobe would have to do is take it and move on. Basketball is partially a sport of skill for a reason. They created rules so that players like Shaq and LeBron and Wilt and Kareem couldn’t COMPLETELY dominate the sport, although they basically have anyway. Kobe is good enough and smart enough that if normal offensive fouls were called, Kobe would have the advantage because LeBron’s only form of consistent scoring is getting to the rim, which is a lot harder to do whenever you don’t have that pick and roll he loves so much. Kobe wins this one.

  • Mo

@ Holy baller – You can “over-power” someone without “running thru them.” That’s the difference between someone being able to take a “charge” or not.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Yawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This again. People have nothing better to do than argue the same ole Kobe vs Lebron nonsense. Those guys don’t even play the same position or have similar playing style, yet they are the ones people love arguing about. How bout Rose vs Wall, BGriff vs Amare, MJ vs Jordan Crawford, Ta Ta vs RKelly?

  • Mburb321

Tim Grover has worked out Kobe Lebron and Jordan. Straight up said he would take kobe 1 on 1 over Lebron because KOBE would be able to back down Lebron, hes that strong. So it not just Lebron that would be working in the post. Then he went on to say he would take Jordan over both.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Jahmai

With all the back on forth on twitter between LeBron and KD, the exibition games, he’s actually siding with Kobe. Strange. Wonder if that flag football game still fits in LBJ’s schedule. BTW, I think LeBron would win.

  • Mburb321

What I wondering is if they have already played against each other 1 on 1. Kobe has a history of calling out people 1 on 1 and I cant believe that with all the U.S.A basketball and all star games these elite players havent already played each other numerous times.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Jahmai

The All-Star weekend should get a 1-1 tournament included, where we could have like a playoff bracket, games to 5 in the 1st round, 2nd round, and 11 in the final and 3rd game. Divide them by Conference. We could have Rose-Wall on one side, LeBron-Melo on the other. How awesome would that be. With a possible final of Kobe-LeBron, the whole world watching. I’m pretty sure their ego will make them go 100%.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Anybody who takes charges in streetball is a full on p*ssy.
    There can be no debate.
If you call charges or over the back, you are a punk. If this describes you, you are a punk. Accept it and change.

    Eddie Curry vs. 68 pies

  • Riggs

also, carmelo can beat lebron 1 on 1.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Man, the NBA players should organize a massive one-on-one tournament for money right now.
    Or streetball tournament in general.
You telling me advertisers wouldn’t pay for that, particularly the one-on-one tournament.
They could pick players, single elimination. Grand prize is 100k. Proceeds go to to NBPA to help players during lockout. You telling nobody would jump at the chance to figure out who reigns supreme?
Hell, they could break it down by category, like point guards, swingmen and bigs.
Or they could do a player fantasy draft and have a tournament for cash. Establish six team captains and then stage the tournament. Again, spread the proceeds around. You telling me NBC wouldn’t be interested.

  • http://www.2ksports.com Showtime

Lebron, nothing else needs to be said

  • Mburb321

Lockout update for you guys since im bored at work reading every article i find, stephen a, worjnaroski, ira from the heat, and amico all say dfish, kobe and rank and file players want 50/50. Hunter and all the other stars want 52%. Stern says if more games are missed they drop even below 50%. Which means we should be getting basketball soon because its obvious rank and file players who are in the majority cant afford to miss checks.

  • Mburb321

Once it starts going public that more and more players are starting to be ok with 50/50 the more the owners are going to stay their ground. I personally dont know how i feel because i think 50/50 is too low but if he rank and file players who are affected by the lockout the most are down who am I to disagree.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    ^Yep.
At a certain point, it’s all about them.

Allenp at 1:22 pm with the TRUTH!

  • MLK4Life

I guess those who comment on here have a better understanding of these two guys than the guys who ACTUALLY have played against and with them. It’s crazy how fast some will disregard the opinions of actual NBA players. I think people also forget how strong Kobe is. He has regularly backed LeBron down in the post. But I guess this is how it goes for some of you. Kevin, Trevor and Matt have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about right? And it’s not about LeBron being in Miami because people were saying Kobe would win 1 on 1 when he was in Cleveland too.

  • http://slamonline.com tina

Can we please not use the term P*ssy around here!!! THANKS!

  • tomtom

HAHA i guess slam were down on comments and needed the boxes filled. Well played. Let’s just take away from this the fact that Kevin Durant is the most humble and unassuming star in the league. I mean he actually said ‘i’m nowhere near’ which is simply not true. I damn sure hope the lakers can poach him in a few years when Kobe is winding down.

  • http://www.slamonline.com house

Muggsy bogues would take them both.

It’s sad how many people come here pretending to know basketball. IF you don’t know Kobe would beat LBJ in 1 on 1 Bball. Leave this site…. In a game of 1 on 1. Individual skill set is more important than strength. So, who’s more skilled as opposed to physically gifted? Who’s the better shooter? Also, y’all trippin’, acting like Kobe’s weak. Case close.

Dru, do you not remember Kobe getting punked by Melo on the block? It happened. Kb24 isn’t weak, but his strongest isn’t going to be stronger than Lebron’s strongest. Body type and muscle mass determined this.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Anyone who thinks the answer to “who would win between Kobe & LeBron” is definitive one over the other is just as stupid as they are claiming everyone else too be. It’s one on one, sometimes Kobe would win, sometimes LeBron would win. And that’s as complex as it gets.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

    ^Truth

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

MLK…go fu*k yourself. Did I spell that correctly? nbk…..nowhere was it mentioned that there was going to be a best of 7 series between the two guys. I’m sure the girl who asked it meant it to be a one time game only….hence her saying to John Wall “you’d have to bet your fortune on it”. Notice that the clip only had his reaction to THAT particular question? And he qualified it by saying if Bron played all out, Bron takes it? If Matt Barnes said any differently than what his answer was, I don’t think he’d have a job as a Laker once the lockout ended.

  • http://stapledesign.com Spaceship Jay

We do ALWAYS disregard dudes’ opinions that are straight up, flat out professionals that make a living off of what we are fan’s of.. kinda funny, kinda cool… and kinda creepy.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Eboy, I’m saying anyone who claims to know the answer, and is calling everyone that disagrees with them stupid is in effect being stupid. I understand the conversation taking place, I understand people saying things like what you said “If I can get 15 shots in the paint to your 15 shots from out on the perimeter, I like my chances. In this case, using that idea, I’d like Lebron’s too.” – I don’t however think this is in any shape or form an intelligent response. “DRU Posted: Nov.2 at 2:42 pm

  • Mburb321

nbk is right,in a half ct game Lebron isnt going with a head of steam to the basket. Once the ball is checked kobe will likely be guarding him tight and he will have to work his way down to the basket and likely have to finish with his back to the basketball which we all know isnt his strength. As for kobe, bigger guys have always made him work harder like kmart and marion so all those pump fakes arent always going to work against lebron. Kobe in his prime would probably dominate but now its probably a toss up with lebron winning more frequently.

  • bike

Although in very poor taste and very disrespectful of women, N. Fleming’s comment is pretty freakin’ funny.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    My bad Tina.
I knew I shouldn’t have written it, but that’s what popped in my head.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Prime Kobe isn’t dominating anyone especially 24-25yr old Bron.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

It WOULD be gangsta (like someone suggested earlier) if every big-time NBA player put up a million of their own money and held a one-on-one tournament. Not for charity….let them disseminate the money how they’d like once there’s a winner. 15-20 guys. Size, position…there shouldn’t be a limiting factor. Imagine how hard they’d play for a prize that big. That’s almost a seasons salary. Let their accountant pay the IRS. No second or third prize….just one winner. It would be interesting to see who would have the gall enough to put their skills on display in THAT forum.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

That apology to Tina was from me, not NBK.
And if it was best two out of three series, I would pick Lebron to take the series.
It’s cool if you would pick Kobe though, I don’t think it makes you an idiot.
But, again, there is no help defense in one-on-one.
Every team that has ever slowed LeBron down has done so with help defense galore. Now, the same is true for Kobe, but Kobe is older. He’s shooting more jumpers now, he’s lost some lateral quickness.
If I had to pick I’d pick LeBron. Yes, Kobe is more skilled, but the level of skill needed to dominate in a one-on-one game is LESS than in a five-on-five game. You just have to beat one guy.
Plenty of my friends have been better players than me in a “real” game, but I could still beat them one-on-one. And vice versa.

  • Mburb321

JTaylor come on man Lebron is a beast but 2005 kobe was a good 220 compared to the 205 he is now, and he was way more athletic. If old kobe is a toss up and then kobe in his prime would be a domination.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    A Million is too much.
    Just put up 100,000.
That’s money that many of them would spend on something anyway. Now they are just gambling on something they can actually control.
    THEN
They sell sponsorship rights to it. And they all make money anyway, and they can make money for hte rest of the league.
So the winner gets the pot, but everybody gets a cut of the pay off.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

While Lebron ain’t Hakeem on the block (he might not even be Nick Van Exel at this point) you really believe he couldn’t back down Kobe with just a power dibble and some banging? Even if he just put up little flip hook shots from 5 feet in, he could do that all day. It’s doubtful Kobe would even try to back Bron down…he’s going to try and get him with head fakes and fadeaways mainly. That’s his game now. His low block fadeaway j’s come off of interior feeds…he’s not going to dribble to a block and then shoot a fade.

  • SI44

Really, prime kobe, 81 pts kob, 10 gms in a row of 40 kobe wouldnt give
LBJ work? Some people really do have short term memories, or are dusted beyond belief.

  • Mburb321

Eboy do you remember how kobe and melo were pretty much wrestling in the post in wcf. Melo was def winning the battle but he had to work hard for it. Lebron might be stronger then melo but i think Melo uses his body in a much better way when it come to bullying people in the post. I dont see Lebron backing kobe down easily at all.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

at any point in Kobe’s career, LeBron right now is considerably more powerful then him. ANd that is the only reason that if I had to bet, I would put money on LeBron in that game. Wouldn’t feel comfortable with teh wager, but still, if I had too.

  • LA Huey

A bit off topic, I know, but I’m curious. What’s the reaction you guys see in pick-up games where guys take charges? Just about every instance I’ve witnessed, even the teammates of the guy who took the charge refused to acknowledge it. On a few other occasions, his teammates will take the call then intentionally turn the ball over on the ensuing possession.

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

I apologize for my earlier comment. It was in good fun, but it could be offensive and I’m very PG, just check my Twitter.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Well if you believe that a one-on-one match-up between a 26yr old, yet to reach his Prime Bron vs a 33yr old, past his prime Kobe that hasn’t guarded a top-perimeter threat in 3yrs is a “toss up”, that’s on you. You’re obviously one of those people that still look at kobe as some kind of defensive presence and use his recent all-defensive first-team selections as validation.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

    LMAO ^

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

I think it’s more of a toss up because it is a game of one on one and neither guy can guard the other. So basically whoever takes a bad shot loses. But if you really think defense is going to be the difference in a one on one game that’s you.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

I don’t know nbk, KB of 2005-2008 is one of the best one on one players of all time. LbJ doesn’t use his body to his advantage on the post like he should. I would put their post up being equal because of KB’s skills and because of LbJ’s size. In the half court with no pick and roll I just don’t see Bron gliding past Kobe during his prime years. I would definitely feel comfortable with a bet that has KB winning one on one during both gents primes. It’s all opinion though.

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

If LeBron backs up an gets enough space on Kobe to take one hard step towards the basket, how the f*ck is Kobe going to stop that momentum? With his #kobeface?

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

I’ve played ball all my life and not once have I seen someone attempt to take a charge, not once. It’s frowned upon and avoided like the plague, like Antonio Cromartie avoids rubbers, like Lindsay Lohan avoids the sun, like Deion avoided tackling, Like Donald Trump avoids the wind, like…….well you get where I’m going with this.

  • http://kb24.com Bigi

Anybody who’s actually played 1-on-1 know’s how much it is about trash-talk and actually MAKING your shots. With these two fellas, it could go either way I think. Will the scorer have the ball every time after a made basket, makes big difference also. But all in all, this just a stupid debate.

  • Mburb321

If im “one of those guys” those guys being Kevin Durant and other nba players as if there opinion is baseless? Of course Kobe has slowed down, he doesnt even attempt to guard the elite players because he’ll get tired. But theres no managing the game in 1 on 1 so of course hes gonna play him tight. Perfect example in the christmas game when they were getting blown out in the 4th and bron and kobe were yapping and kobe got all pissed and started to D him up and kept poking the ball from him.

  • wishuwould247

Allenp is speaking the TROOF at 1:22. I had one guy call 3 seconds on me one time. I looked at him, smiled, and checked the ball up top. He didn’t make one single call the rest of the way.

  • MLK4Life

@Eboy Congratulations on showing how immature and stupid you are. The best answer is if they played four times it would probably end up 2-2. Kobe could shoot from the outside all day. LeBron could go to the basket all day. They will never play one on one though. So this, like every other Kobe vs. Bron conversation could go on forever and bring out all the subjective and objective opinions.

Players like Lebron function better when they play with a team, like somebody already mentioned Lebron loves the pick and roll so he can run like a train and get to the rim, he uses the isolation too, 1 on 1 is different, Kobe is a great 1 on 1 player, his moves, his experience, pump fakes, post moves, handles, turn around shots etc etc, he’s got the full arsenal, he knows exactly what he’s gonna do, he’s also a very crafty defensive player. Kobe is the best 1 on 1 baller and like I said, Melo and Durant would torch Lebron too 1 on 1, but that doesn’t mean they are better players than him

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

AllenP, yep. I can do anything else until we play each other. So we have to come up with a reasonable date and time (preferably during the afternoons) that works for both sides.

Craziest thing about pickup is the arguing about the fouls and the score.

  • Triyo

if they played 10 times they’d each win 5…one on one is totally different from a real game. i bet jamal crawford is one of the best one on one guys in the league…kidna doesnt mean shit honestly

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Allen, how’d you beat the CPU?

  • http://redoftoothandclaw.ca/ niQ

Man when we play pick up, the only fouls that are called are the ones you hear a loud “SMACK” on someone’s wrist/arm/hand when they’re going for a shot/lay up. Everything else goes.

  • http://www.twitter.com/nflem41 Nicolas Fleming

I’m passive aggressive and drive a lot and get hammered a lot, too. But I never call fouls, I just give a lot of sideways glances when other people call fouls.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

I hate people who don’t call their fouls.
Because, inevitably the game gets close and the other team fouls them and there is a turnover or some other bad play and it screws things up. And the other team fouls them because they KNOW they won’t call it, particularly if the person who doesn’t call fouls is clearly better than everybody else.
Also, the person who complains the most about the other team’s foul calls is the person who typically calls the most ticky tack fouls.

I don’t call fouls unless the contact was audible. But I also handcheck like it’s 1989 so it balances out.
And man, Allenp. You’re right about crazy arguing about calls. I’ve seen games where guys have literally argued for half an hour over a single call.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

I’m the type that likes the person whom commits the foul to call the foul. That’s what I always do. If I foul the person and it affects the outcome of their shot then I call a foul on myself. This usually works with the church guys and such, but when you play out on the streets, no body calls fouls and your a b*tch if you do call one. Street ball games are the must fun and the must frustrating imo. You always have that guy are two that refuse to admit when they foul and it ruins the whole game for everyone.

  • http://www.optimabbc.be Max

I won my first 2K game against the Grizz, beat Maniac, than got blown out by the LWolves and the Bobcats…

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

We play call your own fouls (but we’d prefer the “fouler” to fess up first) – And Respect the call. If you lose and blame it on a bad foul call we just laugh at you. If they score a bucket to end the game then bad defense is why you lost. Not because some guy called a sh*tty foul earlier, there are no free throws in a pick up game.

  • for real

the end was the best part

  • GC6

Lebron would beat KD in a one on one shouldnt talking trash be about his superior Lebron would beat Kobe in a one on one Kobe cant handle Wade either.

  • Chukaz

ESPN ranked kobe number 7 in the league and here is durant, who might be the best player in the league himself, saying kobe’s tied for number 1. I think KD knows better than ESPN ‘experts’

  • GC6

John Wall is the only one speaking sense

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Props to Tina–about time, if you ask me.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Calling your own fouls never works. I always end up calling my own fouls while the other team doesn’t, and it just gives them extra possessions. I also hate people who complain about foul calls.
I also hate people who offensive foul the sh!t out of every play. I don’t call offensive fouls, but it’s really annoying catching a ‘bow to the rib every time the jack @ss drives it.

  • manu

melo in a heartbeat over both of em…best 1 on 1 player in the game no contest

but kobe in his prime eats lebron alive

  • LA Huey

Teddy, I hear you on the guy who abuses the pick-up game code about no offensive fouls. I counter by bodying him up off the ball because calling off-the-ball fouls is about as weak as calling offensive fouls. And generally, the more physical someone is, the less stamina they have so that off-the-ball pressure will slow them down in a hurry.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

Kobe wins this hands down. 1 on 1 is about skill set, shot making ability, dribble moves and pump fake. Anybody talking about strength in 1 on 1 never played. Lebron has no post game, no running shot ability, can’t hit clutch baskets unless he is winning in 4th qtr, and some of yall think Lebron would beat a player who grew up playing 1 on 1 and Kobe game is suited more for a 1 on 1 battle. WHAT IS LEBRON GO TO MOVE–NONE. WHAT IS KOBE GO TO MOVE, post fade, pump fake-up fake, cross over dribble stop pop and pump fake-spin shot, and post up fake-layup. THIS IS AN EASY WIN FOR KOBE!! BOOK IT!!!

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

    ^ and scene.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Seed probably thinks Kobe could beat Jesus at being holy.

  • robb

@GC6 John Wall would lose against someone like CP3 for the same reasons Lebron would lose against Kobe. He might be bigger, stronger and more athletic than Chris but CP3 is more skilled, more crafty and more astute. John Wall is too young to know better.

  • Roger

Keven Durant: “I am nowhere near those guys.”

    Humble… :-)

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Seed probably thinks Kobe could beat Hitler at being evil.

  • http://bedotwater.bandcamp.com BE.water

Yo. Im not no p*ssy Allenp! We can meet up with Bcrawfod out here in Chi and I’ll prove it (need authentication when I take that W). lol but nah I take charges everywhere, pickup games included. I dont call them, but it makes a mug think when he comes down thinking hes going straight to the rack and he sees someone setting up for a charge. If you’re a basketball player, you’re trying to avoid that call subconsciously. Just one of those old man tricks I’ve learned after I got injured (I’m only 25 btw.) On another note, I had a “coach” ref our pickup games last week for whatever reason, and award foul shots to a player who received a foul, but only if the shot went in… the f**k?

  • http://bedotwater.bandcamp.com BE.water

dont get it twisted though. I dont do it every trip down the court, or even that often. But its funny to see people react to a n*gga taking a charge.

  • http://slamonline.com datkid

seed thinks kobe would be a better president then JFK

  • T-Money

I must admit thaI handcheck likea mofo.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

I had to figure out the coach profile that worked and it helped that I played the Sixers.
I have discovered some quirks that make the game easier too. Like the computer LOVES pump fakes. They always take one pump fake at the end of the shot clock before shooting. Crash board don’t run so much and value the ball. I have always believed Atlanta had horses and trading Jamal Crawford and Marvin Williams for Delonte West and Jeff Green was a great move! If I get the Sixers to trade me Brief Holiday, Thadeus Young and Speights I am aces.

  • Hobbes

Kobe can beat Lechoke 1-on-1 till he retire just like Mike could still beat Bobcat player like JRich, Wallace 1-on-1 in training. Seriously Lebron is not even the top 1-on-1 players in the league today. Get off his d*ck y’all.

  • Rainman

@ Eboy: “While Lebron ain’t Hakeem on the block (he might not even be Nick Van Exel at this point) you really believe he couldn’t back down Kobe with just a power dibble and some banging?”

IF it was that Easy, LeBron would have been able to do that with Rajon Rondo guarding him this year. What did he do ANYTIME he had his back turned to the basket with Rondo on him? He looked completley confused, NEVER took advantage, eitehr passed or took a bad fadeaway. He has ZERO Post Skill, Watch the big games, u’ll see. He cant even back down Pg’s, ur telling me Rondo is stronger than Kobe? Come on.

  • Rainman

forget jsut last year, he woulda posted down rondo ANY of the last 3 years he faced the Celtics in the playoffs(2 of them losses) , or any otehr player in the LEAGUE if it was just as easy as posting and banging down low, the dude is huge . But it takes talent, skill and footwork.

  • VanCityBBall

    KD 1d?

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

@ LA Huey: Thanks for the tip, I think I’m gonna try that from now on, actually.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Sometimes though, when I know the guy is gonna commit an offensive foul on a drive, I will stick my elbows out too. But then they have a reason to call a foul.
And anyone else shoot the J right after you check the ball? ‘Cuz that’s my pet move.

  • Jackie Moon

What’s the big deal? Of course Kobe would beat Lebron in 1-on-1. Kobe would beat MJ, Larry Bird, DWade, Derrick Rose, Carmelo, Dirk, Pierce, anyone in 1-on-1.

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

This has been a fun thread.
E, you’re angrier than usual this week. What gives?

  • http://www.sonichurricane.com Guile

in a one on one game, lebron won’t get to the rim as much, because he got nobody setting screen after screens for him.

i seldom see lebron take somebody off the dribble without the help of a screen, he doesn’t have that crossover.

kobe on the other hand, is very creative, he’s got better handles, providing he’s playing with 10 fingers.

  • Andrew Woods

Lebron never made a clutch shot in the 4th quarter while down???? Plz excuse yourself to the crazy farm at your earliest convience

  • Feez22

Kobe would probably win one on one… Remember guys he’s been playing 1 on 5 virtually his whole career even with teammates. Lebron isnt a 1 on 1 type of player. No knock on any of these guys just telling it how it is. Just like if you asked me who would win 1 on 1 allen iverson or chris paul… i’d choose allen iverson in a heartbeat because he is a true 1 on 1 player. Thankfully NBA basketball isn’t one on one so this question is irrelevant. Who would win against each other in a team setting is a better question… lebron’s teams beat kobe’s teams more and thats just fact.

  • http://Slamonline.com rocksinmypants

Wtf my comments never go through. This one probably will though. I hate it when people constantly call little shi$. The only way I’m calling a foul is if I catch a clothesline and even then it’s always my teammates calling fouls for me. Seriously though, not even two weeks ago for the first time I saw someone trying to call a charge. Everyone just laughed. That’s like calling 3 in the key or a tech or even 8 sec violation. Bitc4 made

  • http://members.cox.net/pilight pilight

Why are all you guys even making this stupid argument? Kobe, LeBron, and the NBA are not worthy topics of conversation. The NBA is incredibly gay. If you want real basketball, you need to watch the WNBA. That is well true basketball is played. Stop talking about this NBA garbage!

  • http://slamonline.com Ugh

How is it a thread about Kobe and Bron degenerates into misogyny? How does that even happen?

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyd4NPvzKQg&feature=related MUBWAR

righttttt pilight. I actually saw a few wnba games this year, but you can blame that Moore on that.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

till this day I’ve never seen Lebron seriously lock anyone down MAN-TO-MAN. He’ll zone out like a free safety or a cornerback, and dig in for steals and run-down some blocks but mano-e-mano…unh uh…I think KD can attest lol. Kobe would have his way. Kobe maybe a two years back would win in more convincing fashion, but he still has this one-on-one thing ingrained in his DNA…no way Bron beats him.

  • MIGZ

yes! but only if he gets ball first

  • bigmike100

bron wuld win jus cuz of build nd much younger nd ppl make it seem like bron cnt shoot but he can but melo wuld beat any player n a 1 on 1 #realtalk

  • GC6

Primed Mj would beat Primed Kobe in a one on one.

  • http://abc.com cp

just one thing: go to youtube, type kobe vs Jordan… watch some of those..like kobe 42 @half, or kobe vs mjordan 1997.
then come back here and post again

a younger kobe will eat ljames.. now is closer.. lebron has the physicality and speed, kobe the Defense ,posting, outside shooting and intelligence. Plus lebron will melt if the game is close at the end..

  • http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/wizards/a-quick-guide-to-the-issues-of-the-nba-lockout/2011/10/11/gIQAon1ZbL_story.html unf*ckwitable

Kobe is one of the craftiest and most competitive players ever. Anyone who thinks he wouldnt make a game of it is an idiot imo. At his age im not sure if he’d win but he’d be in with a shot. Prime Kobe would beat LBJ 7/10 times imo.

  • http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/wizards/a-quick-guide-to-the-issues-of-the-nba-lockout/2011/10/11/gIQAon1ZbL_story.html unf*ckwitable

@everyone who thinks LBJ would just overpower Kobe, dont you think that the NBA players who play against both these cats would know better then us whethor Kobe could guard LBJ?

  • http://gmail.com z

I love eboy’s vitriol man lol so harsh from the get go. Kobe wins this, particularly if we r talking prime years, but nowadays it’d be tough for him cuz bron does a good job pushing him off his spots, bumping him outta position offensively (at least that’s one thing I noticed in mia vs lal last season). Ultimately, this game would probly boil down to whether kob’s gonna make shots with a hand in face. I’ve seen him do just that often enough to know better than to bet against it. But this is all irrele unless the players take up allenp’s awesome idea of a mano a mano tournament. For the record, a prime allen iverson would give kobe waaaay more problems 1 on 1 than bron, just re watched some old tape of the answer, god he was dope wasn’t he?

  • http://gmail.com z

And props to tina for censoring. The only person who’s qualified to be using foul language around here is eboy (and that’s just cuz he’s extra cruel, then says “its only words, kid.”). Coldest commentor here

  • http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/wizards/a-quick-guide-to-the-issues-of-the-nba-lockout/2011/10/11/gIQAon1ZbL_story.html unf*ckwitable

@Z, get off Eboys dick, and the Answer was so dope.

  • DOE

Kobe has 5 rings and Lebron 0 who you think my money’s on? Kobe has a big big heart!

  • Veto402

Durant says that he is “NOT nowhere near those guys” due to the double negative, it means he thinks he is just as good at those guys…he has a great way of being subtle about being good!
