Video: LeBron Dunks, Won’t Hi-Five a Fan

Here’s an amusing video of LeBron James throwing down a big dunk at Rudy Gay’s charity game last night in Memphis. He was too busy mean-mugging the crowd to give a fan the dap she so desperately craved.

Nobody said you don’t have things to do in life, your response to my comments proves exactly why you find problems with peoples statements. You don’t pay attention to the words in front of your face. I said “or you just flat out need to examine what truly matters in your life” – read that sentence, then read your response “And please, enough about me or anyone else who notices this kind of stuff as not having things to do in life; get off your high horses.” I said “examine what matters,” not “find something to do.” Nobody is belittling you.

  • @DEKNOWZ

I think they meant, Video: LeBron Dunks, Won’t Hi-Five his mom. lol

  • http://www.offthebackboard.wordpress.com Off The Backboard

It just came across as extremely condescending (holier-than-thou), which is why people reacted to it the way they did.

  • LP

this guy is a house, he would be the greatest tight end ever if he switched to football…

  • http://www.offthebackboard.wordpress.com Off The Backboard

@nbk – “Examine what matters” still implies that I have nothing better to do than read into Lebron’s character with my time. I read about basketball – it comes up, what can I say? Regardless, I don’t want to make this about me and you, so let’s move on.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

Why did it come across that way? Because people spun the story off like that, because a LeBron story, no matter if it is right or wrong, gets more eyeballs then any other story in the league? You are just avoiding giving me an answer at this point. What about what he said was condescending?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

NO it means, if your getting offended by an athlete saying something like “people still have problems at home that they have to go back to when they are over hating on me” then you need to examine what matters in your life. I read more basketball everyday then any person I know. There is no way you can try and flip what I’m saying into “you have nothing better to do than read into LeBron’s character with your time” – that is crazy off-base. Just like saying what LeBron said was condescending. His words applied to the queen of england if she said he was a choke artist. smh

  • slamfan4life

dude prolly was like…exhailing…..this vid wasnt that bad..

  • http://djfklsfl.com Jukai

I stick up for Lebron, and I think Lebron is a great guy. You can shout out “THE MEDIA IS PROTECTING LEBRON” because he has 200 stories about what a nice person he is…
or, more logically, you can assume those 200 stories are legit and the three stories you can find which projects Lebron in a bad light are the outliers.
BUTTTTTTTTT that all being said…. “people can all go bash on me but they gotta go back to their real problems” was kind of a dbag thing to say. It wasn’t meant to be philosophical. It was an insult. Why else would he say it?

  • Mburb321

There’s a difference, Lebron “looks” like a d-bag, hes not “acting” like a D-Bag. Kobe has the ridiculous jaw jut and airplane thing and lebron has the stupid puffer fish face and crowd stare down. They both need to get back to the drawing board because I doubt young kids on the playground are impersonating either one of them.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

It wasn’t meant as an insult – it was more like, “this stuff doesn’t matter, y’all realize that right?” – If he was insulting people he would have said, “I’m going to go back to my life where my biggest problem is winning basketball games, while y’all go back to yours, and try and feed your families” That would be an insult.

  • LA Huey

Mburb, you’re wrong. Those are excellent signature taunts to imitate. I do the airplane thing when I clock out of work on a Friday, do the jaw jut when I win an argument with friends and family, and put on the puffer fish face when I skeet.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I make the Kobe face anytime I do something that I find to be in any way shape or form dominate. I do the KobeFace at the TV when I dunk on the computer in 2k12. I made the KobeFace at my girlfriend when I made the most amazing catch of all time the other day. A little kid did the KobeFace at me at the Gym last week after he hit a 3 lol – i think what these guys do on the court has a much much much much bigger effect on our youth then what they say in a press conference. Sh*t I didn’t watch my first press conference until i was 13 or whatever age it was when AI did his “you talking about practice” rant, and I’ve always been crazy about basketball.

  • Chukaz

there’s nothing wrong with what he did. the fan paid money to WATCH him play. As long as he didn’t blindfold her at any point during the game he did no wrong. he’s a grown man and he doesn’t have to touch anybody he doesn’t want to. b*tch was ugly too. I wouldn’t have touched her. I’d put money on LeBron touching Kate Upton even if she didn’t want him to…

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

nbk needs to play in a part of the country where making that face on a streetball court would wind up getting his jaw broken.

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

@ Off The Backboard: I can’t believe I actually read the piece you linked your name to, but all I have to say is… who cares? He was at a club and partied, and in the casino he was pretending to play basketball. I pretend to play basketball all the time–it’s a habit I’m sure many people have, to pretend to shoot jumpers or w/e when you’re not doing anything, or when you’re walking. That makes him a bad person?

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

If I’m makin that face in an open-run, it’s because I’m killin it.

  • http://nba.com GP23

When I dunk I pull out the tounge like Michael did… (like every other kid did in america in the early 90′s, and probably still do now)

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

No NBK if you’re making the Kobe face at any time in life it’s because you’re a douche.
    Lol.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

next person to do the kobe face while balling is getting shot, please believe that *Ice-T’s voice*

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

At least if you did the Big Balls dance, some dudes would laugh about it.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

What’s weird is I don’t even know what the “Kobe face” is… Jaw jut is pretty self explanatory, but what’s “Kobe face”?

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

    Buzz Killington strikes again.

  • AQWORD

    ‘ …. and by the way s..k M. M………..g D..k. ! ‘ ICE T

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Maybe if you pulled your lips off Kobe’s a)ss, you’d know the face we’re talking about…
Sorry, I couldn’t resist that easy joke.

  • http://myspace.com/gametimeweezy Gametimeweezy

Wow all of a sudden everybody got LeBrons back when last week no one could believe he was the #1 player in the league cuz he’s no good in the 4th or whatever… he didnt see her cuz he’s 6’8″??? lmao!!! That was a jerk move but hey thats the generation we live in. Twitter/facebook… just ignore them it makes you look cool. LeBron that was wack she was cheering for you got the sign and the whole nine… what no love??? Cmon son!!!

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

As long as I’m winnin (dominantly) I’ll be the biggest douche on earth.

  • http://www.twitter.com/_dfrance dfrance21

Eboy where are these rough and tumble courts you speak of where people are always getting beat up?

  • http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/.../kobe-byrant-s-post-game-meltdown dfrance21

LA Huey click my name for a demonstration of the Kobe Face.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Almost everyone I played in Jersey….several of the ones in NYC, Brooklyn and the Bronx. In Florida, try that s*it at the Gun Club courts in WPB, almost all of the ones in Riviera Beach, a few in Miami, a bunch in Boynton Beach and a handful in Pompano. I would still rather play street ball than any sort of rec league bulls*t in a gym in the suburbs. I don’t need to show off anymore, I just want the best competition I can get, and that’s in the urban areas.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

There places like that in Phoenix. Actually my freshman year of college a few of my teammates had a guy pulled a gun on them during a pickup game at a park because they were killin these older guys. (they said they were not talkin sh*t, but one of them has never played a game in his life where he didn’t tell you he was beating you while he was beating you, so I don’t believe that). There are courts everywhere that dudes get too sensitive or macho (whatever your perspective is).

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

There is better hoop in gyms where I’m at, there are about 3 parks I know of with decent games, but the best runs are normally at colleges .

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

Pulling a gun over a basketball game is a b*tch move, though I’ve seen it too. The best thing I ever heard was a dude that said, after having a guy say he was “going to his car” after a bout of intense s*it talking, the pther dude said back “b*tch, you can’t even shoot a basketball right, how the fu*k are you going to shoot ME?” Man, I laughed my a*s off.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

My comment didn’t post (#blamealaska) so I’m gonna not type it all out again. I saw a 18 year old kid knock out some 30 somethin year old dude after a lengthy sh*t talking session that resulted in the kid droppin 9 of 11 on the old guy then when he guy kept talkin sh*t the kid knocked him clean out and walked away.

  • http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/.../kobe-byrant-s-post-game-meltdown dfrance21

I don’t know I’ve played all over NYC and primarily in South Jamaica Queens and rarely have I seen dudes actually fight over trash talk. Usually if a dude is talking smack you try to shut him up by shutting him down and busting his azz ON the court. To me, if you punch a guy in the face because of a face or trash talk, you’re probably a sensative punk that sucks at basketball.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

no offense on the old guy thing old people. It was a typo, meant *older* guy.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

You could be right dfrance or you’re playing in a mellow hood. I never played ball in Queens but I have people there and I never heard any roughneck stories about the games there. Didn’t Kobe punch Reggie Miller in the face? Would that make him “suck at basketball?” Shaq punched a couple of guys in the face. So did MJ. Larry Bird too. I think you might be a bit mild mannered, dfrance ! LOL

  • http://www.slamonline.com Eboy

If a 30 year old man got knocked out by a teenager, he deserves that sh*t.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Naw, Hilarious sh*t AllenP, keep those original gems coming. Pheww sooo funny.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

This wasn’t your average teenager lol. Kid was like 6’3″ 205. on his way to go play in college

  • Mburb321

As a Kobe fan I can tell you that almost EVERY TIME he does the crowd silencer, mutombo finger wave, or big balls dance we lose, its bad luck! Finley at the buzzer, and Battier’s corner 3 are still fresh in my memory. Brons little push up whenever he gets hit is unnecessary, and Westbrooks 3 goggles that he puts in his imaginary holsters also drives me crazy. And guns at the court?? you guys must be playing in QB where dudes are getting stabbed with table legs..

Most of my comments haven’t been posting.
    #blamealaska indeed.
BTW, SLAM, Mario Chalmers is supposedley gonna organize a game up here in Anchorage with other NBA players.
If you want someone to cover it for y’all, get at me :D

  • LA Huey

dfrance, I’m guessing that was meant for LakeShow. I’m pretty familiar with the NBA’s signature taunts.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

idk, almost half the people i know out here have a gun on them or in their car 24/7. So just about every gym/court in Phoenix probably has a gun in pretty close proximity.

I argued with somebody the other day about “love for the game” versus the money, and I said that all the athletes I knew were ALWAYS thinking about the money.
Anyway, click my name for a list of them saying exactly that.

  • LA Huey

Sure, Enig. Cover it for us.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

No one in the right mind is going all the way up to alaska to play in an exhibition game unless Sarah Palin is at the airport to “receive” them.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

    Sure, JTaylor.
Cause Anchorage is further away than Europe and the Phillipines and colder than places like Chicago and Minny.
    GTFOH

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Damn, Enigmatic. It was a playful jab, sheeeeeeeeit.

  • http://www.bulls.com Enigmatic

Apparently that came off as me being upset.
    Nah, it’s not like that.
    We good.
Someone needs to invent a sarcasm tab for the computer.
Or we should be given an option of having our comments written in Comic Sans font when we’re being sarcastic.
And JTaylor, your obsession with nailin’ Palin is kind of unsettling.
    LOL
