Some kid at the world-famous Five Star Basketball Camp had the unfortunate assignment of trying to guard Chris Paul in front of the entire gym.

good defense and foot movement lil man, nice effort. and lol @ CP3 cheezin the whole way through…that was nice but he did ol boy out in Hong Kong something kinda vicious: watch?v=2NVJ6Vy8CUM
That man’s handle is REAL!
Who was that 8th grader? D was amazing.
Cp3 is amazing especially considering his lack of NBA physic
The kid guarded him better than Pau on switches in the NOH series.
That kid is pretty damn big for an eight grader.
That kid has a pretty good defensive stance.
waittttt how tall is chris paul? That 8th grader probably one of the best at that camp from what it looks.
Hey that kid’s D was solid. Paul is listed at 6′, but that seems like a stretch…
From that video, i think they put that 8th grader on him because his d was the best at the camp…
@Eboy that was the same thing i was thinking, that kids a solid 6″1 170 lol
that kid wz in 8th grade? he looks like hes on steroids. im taller than him but…..
I went to Five Star camp in the summer of 2003….Chris Paul was there for a couple of days as a coach. He was actually sitting two seats next to me at the cafeteria and he kept on showing other campers in the same table his shoe collection on his phone. Also, I was like 5’10 in 2003 and CP3 was a little bit taller than me, just a little bit.
anyone that makes CP3 dribble more than 20 times to beat u, thats some solid footwork
Agree with y’all – kid played solid D on one of the great ones in the game – he should be proud
Thanks, all, for checking out the video. Heron plays for the ‘Choz in the Bronx. He’s legit.
Yup, that’s Mustapha Heron.
that was incredible d.
stop reaching young man. other than that, great d.
heron? that name is primed for a rapper.
Kid is legit huh? Maybe this is the next ‘Michael Finley in highschool vs. Michael Jordan’ vid
I’m sorry to be this guy……. but, CP3 had like 100 people guarding his right hand dribble and a camera crew guarding his left. He had to just go straight. Pretty easy to play D when your opposition is being funneled to you. Not hating. Kid looks good and it was solid D, but lets take in a little perspective.
The kids defense looked better than Derek Fisher’s D looked. He actually looked like he could move and was trying to make life hard. Had he had a big man behind him CP3 may have missed that layup. The Lakers should sign him NOW!
Crazy to think they could meet again in the L.
If the kid makes it, CP will be like 31 or 32 this kids rookie year.
You never know what’s gonna happen though.
Plus doubt he’ll be a PG if he’s 14 and already listed at 6’3″.
When the video started I asked myself, ‘when is this 25 year old grown ass man going to sit down so the eighth grader can take his spot and get schooled.’ Then I realized what was happening.
Just to counter your point LakeShow, in a 5 on 5 basketball game there are going to be bodies to your left and your right as well. Not as many bodies as in the video of course, but you’re very seldom gonna be out on an island by yourself, especially when you’re guarding the other teams best player. I think looking at his footwork and reaction time you can say he’s a solid defender.
^True. Point stands though. Give him a left or a right and he’s schooling this cat. You usually don’t get quite the same funnel that was going down in this clip. Kid has skills though. Honestly, kids probably a better defender than half the league…. Yikes.
well, that kid played pretty good D let me tell you.
Yeah, a bit too much reaching–you’re not stealing it from Chris Paul. But other than that, this kid is a legit defender. And he’s only 13-14 years old… Scary.
that kid cant be a 8th grader im a sophmore ad he looks way taller than me
It’s even scarier to think that Chris Paul is only 25 years old.
I’m not hating but honestly all that dribbling is exactly what we are trying to teach our kids NOT to do.
^^^^ Right though!!!
It Helps To Have Them Dribbling Skills Tho!
i doubt anyone can dictate chris paul’s movements and he goes where he wants…that and this is an 8th grader so great job for his age…with that said coaches ive played and play under normally teach a philosophy of declaring a side (sideline/baseline never the middle) so shifting ur defensive angles is not so good footwork.
if at about 0:16 he moved his left foot first instead of his right (which is REALLY proper D) he could have stopped CP3… he could have kept him from the basket for up until CP gets his trade done
That kid made CP work for it though! Great job!
^^ Dribbles ^^
WHO’S THE BEST DEFENDER HERE !!!?? OK You , let’s go….
ok now the real question is, is the kid’s hair real? or is that some nice extensions?
That was schooling but that was also some great D for a 13-14 year old.
lol That was awesome. The kid played some good defense tho. It’s cool that Chris is out there playing with the kids. I know he was excited to even be playing against one of the best PGs in the world.
