Video: TNT’s ‘NBA Forever’ Intro

The past meets the present.

It’s back! As you surely know by now, the NBA season officially tipped off today, and before the Knicks-Celtics telecast began, the NBA unveiled this crazy intro video, in which current players are matched up alongside the League’s legends. Check it out above.

Bird and Nowitzki? Nice pandering to racists, NBA.

Lmao at Mo, and hella lolz at the Titanic reactions to this video. Put down the kool-aid brothers.

It ran the same idea as the ad for Match of the Day in UK.

It is pretty cool, but I did think the Pistol and Nash, Dirk and Bird combos were a bit much.

This is one of the best

I love how “DrakesUnibrow” uploaded that video.

Bird to Allen was cool, some of it was pretty horrid thou, i.e., Wilt looking like an example of a bad photoshop

  • jayrose

AMAZING!!!! love the jordan and drose ending

  • Homie

Boo. Thumbs down in our house. Cheap sentimentalist pandering.

  • shutup

and durant /gervin and Paul/Thomas I guess you feel were racist as well? or maybe they matched former players with players that play like them today. who would you match Dirk with?

  • nathan

loved the bean-magic handshake close to the end and the drose-jordan fistbump.

    I love it.

Lots of sensitive cats on here. The Dirk/Bird and Nash/Pete shot were done because that is the comparisons everyone makes and those players have similar styles. Who else in history would you compare to Dirk and Nash?

  • Rnz

Daaamn, this stuff brings tears to my eyes..!!

  • Sonicproof

I absolutely loved it. This is why I love basketball. Cos it will be forever the greatest sport in time.

Beautiful ad. As someone who has complained about the NBA not honoring it’s history enough, this is a great counter to that. It also reiterates what a good idea our BATTLES issue is…

    that is f.u.c.k.i.n.g. awesome.

It just made me remember, how a decent 90′s team would murder any decent team today.

Yes, spine tingled a bit while watching this one, the Amare/Ewing chestbump was really smooth.
    Fantastic promo ad.
    More please.

Man, second viewing is even cooler, enjoyed seeing Petrovic in a 2011 NBA ad.
    And Melo/Chuck was seemless too.

People who have anything negative to say about this video, or the people expressing their admiration for it, are the reasons I do everything I can to stay as far away from message boards as possible

@Ugh-I think the rest of us were too busy loving basketball.

  • K.a.

No offense to gamers, but youtube comments with kids saying they wanted to play LIVE just makes me shake my head. When i get inspired/hyped from watching bball moves, i feel compelled to go out on the court and hit some baskets, not continuing to do something else in front of a screen.

It looks suspiciously like TNT is inspired by NBA 2k12′s intro. But that doesn’t make it any less awesome though. Magic’s no-look pass to Mamba…any team playing THAT uber-boss duo might as well pack up and go home before the opening whistle…unless it’s the MJ-Pippen-Rose team.
    Simply awesome.

Surprised i didnt see a KG and Russell collab.
