Video: Top 50 Moments of the Lockout

The best plays of the extended offseason.

Sure, the lockout was altogether a pretty miserable experience, filled with unbearable conversations about BRI and hard caps and financial arguments between millionaires and billionaires. But there were some great moments, too—most of them taking place on the hardwood during pick-up runs and charity games. In the footage above, our homies at BallisLife counted down the 50 best.

Here comes Kobe Bryant love. Unfiltered, and abundant.

  • DieselMechanic

That Kobe is one scientific dog.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Always some good in every evil.

  • http://Www.dimemag.com Royal

Kobe is the most gifted player since Wilt. *tries to keep a straight face*

  • Riggs

kevin durant should be all top 10 just on the amount of work he’s done from the summer to the lockout.

Derek Fisher did some work during the lockout, didn’t he?

  • http://nba.com GP23

Yeah, I thought KD would of got number 1 with his insane shooting at Rucker Park… but Kobe’s was still dope.

  • @DEKNOWZ

This countdown should teach people a very valuable lesson; highlights are cool, but winning is all that matters when it’s all said and done.

  • supercinco

i feel like durants 66 @ rucker was def the top moment of the lockout due to the buzz that surrounded it kobe’s play was great but i feel like it wasn’t # 1…but then again ballislife is a westcoast based company from my knowledge so you know how that goes lol

So who is the winner of the lockout?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

    The Owners.

    NBK FTW.

Carmelo with the game-tying three at the end of regulation in the South Beach All-Star game deserves recognition

  • slamfan4life

how is Rondo not on here? i didnt miss it….did i?

  • matt

@supercinco as far as a moment goes, that durant 66 at the rucker was amazing. However, Kobe (This era’s Jordan) only showed up to 1 game, put up 45 points, and hits the game winner over great defense by James Harden while the crowd is changing “kobe, kobe, kobe, kobe”. After hitting the shot, he stands at mid court with his hands raised in the air and the crowd runs on the court as kids just try to touch kobe as security guards try and push them away. Then to leave to a swarm of fans shoving shoes in his face. It’s kind of hard to compete with a moment like that. It was undoubtedly the top moment of the nba lockout. Our guys over at the marsreel are east coast based and also put it at the #1 spot, so that throws out your west coast comment.

  • matt

@slamfan4life we didn’t make it to that game as it was very last minute

@dev0 we didn’t make it to that game either

  • DieselMechanic

Rondo had the the best pass of the summer by far + the off the head jawnt.

  • L

Can we agree to officially name Kevin Durant MVP of the lockout! L

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

    No, that was David Stern

  • “Shootin” Hoops

Come on guys we know KD did some much work this summer it is crazy.

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

I know Slam is US-Ball-centric, so no surprise that these highlights were picked.
Nevermind that the best European championships of the decade (maybe ever) were played during the lockouut with most teams fielding multiple NBA superstars (u’re welcome, Espagna).
    Who won the lockout?
For a while there it seemed Fiba, Fibaeurobe to be exact, was going to get the majority of Nba players and the buzz already generated by those who signed early was fantastic. Oh what could have been if Deron, Tony, Andrei, Nicholas and even Scalabrine could have kept balling abroad.
Basketball would have gained some more publicity and recognition in soccer-crazed Europe.
    Too bad.

  • http://www.twitter.com/BigFutureLG BigFuture37

Rondo had the 2 best passes of the summer, one was the off the head one and the other was the no look over the shoulder one…sheesh

  • http://dsfjklf.com Jukai

Darksaber: hey man, Rubio made number 9, that’s a victory for Europe right there!

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

@DieselMechanic hahaha!!!! Scientific DAWG! lol watched the full game highlights of that one and bro, those are the best words to describe it. Everything so precise, so easy. James Harden couldn’t stay in front of him to save his life. Still the best….still!

  • Mike Jones

Where is Anthony’s shot to take the game to overtime, heaps better than big dunks every second. dont get me wrong i love a bit of showtime, but melo in the clutch is pleasing to the eye also.

  • http://slamonline Brion

Apparently defense wasnt on the menu during the lockout. This was like watching And1 streetball.

  • http://www.nba.com VanCityBBall

rajon rondos forehead pass should have AT LEAST on the hounourable mentions…. if not DEFINATLY the no look pass to Kennith Faired

  • Bimmer

Harden and Derozan. Not a bad combination.

  • michael banez

how about the one in the philippines ?

  • http://itsahardwoodlife.blogspot.com omphalos

Bit surprised Durant’s shake and dunk on Beasley didn’t make the cut.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Did y’all not read the comments from dude who said they only included highlights from the games they attended? They didn’t go to every game people.

  • http://slamonline.com The Black Rick Kamla

again, this is only footage that Ballislife shot….I mean if we are really going to count down the best moments of Lockout ball half these highlights wouldn’t even be on here. Completely forgot about the Ooh-Way Team Nike match, a bunch of other moments as well
