  I keep hearing about how he’s the first Ivy Leaguer since Chris Dudley in the NBA like he overcame some hardship or something.
  I mean, you gotta feel sorry for all those Ivy Leaguers that came before him.
  Instead of making it to the L and getting a non-guaranteed $400,000 contract for a year or two, they have to settle for using their Economics degrees to work at a sh*tty $120,000 a year job for the next 40 years of their lives.
  Ha ha it would take me four years to make $120,000 at my current job.
  In the military I was making $20,000 a year. Ballin, son.
  Not hating, just think its funny how the whole Ivy League thing is being spun as a negative he turned into a positive is all.

  It’s bugging me. I’m really not getting it. What did he have to overcome and why is it so awesome? He had to sleep on a teammate’s couch? Can you imagine how confortable Landry Fields’ couch is? How does this guy get a free ride and Allen Iverson – 15yo mom, dad in prison, no electricity or water growing up, got five years a fight in a bowling alley, not to mention 5’11″ and 165lbs playing two guard – is the biggest pariah the league has ever seen?

  J Lin got no d1 offers even though he was the top player in cali coming out of high school. he went undrafted even though he was a very good player in college. Sure he wouldn’t have starved either way, but people been sleepin on this dude every step of the way because hes asian, because hes good at school, because he was smart enough to get in an ivy league school. Thats why he overcame a lot to get into the league.

  JLin is here and he ain’t going nowhere. He will be the starter for the Knicks at PG at least for this season. He just need a chance to shine and he finally got that chance here. He’s not gonna avg. 25 points for the season obviously but nobody can stop him from being a solid contributor from now on.

  You see this every season in the NBA. Some dude riding DEEP on the bench finally gets minutes & takes off. Of course the opposing coach hasn’t prepared the team for him, there is NO scouting report on him, etc. They typically have a decent 10 game run before opposing defenses start preparing for them & start taking their game away. If Lin (or any other player) can overcome THAT and make adjustments, then you’ve got something. I’m not saying Lin can’t play right now. Obviously, just making an NBA roster requires alot of skills. But succeeding for a few games and then being successful season after season are two VASTLY different things. Then again, this Knicks team is a mess, so fans are looking for any reason to cheer…

  So let me get this straight, when some Horizon League Norris Cole guy has a couple of good games in the beginning of the year on a stacked Heat team, people want to ride his shaft but Jeremy Lin takes a struggling Knicks squad and basically plays like he’s a vet and lead them to victory, people want to hate automatically.   So he had to face racism – he’s not sleeping on the team bus on road trips or hearing threats of lynching every night like NBA players in the fifties. So he was good at school – that makes being student athlete _easier_, not harder. So he went to a DII school – so did Dennis Rodman and Ben Wallace, but those guys are actually among the best at their jobs ALL TIME, not having a couple of good games in a lame duck season by a sub-.500 team. You know why there’s no perspective on this Lin boosterism? Because he’s Asian. People are saying he’s ‘inspiring’ and ‘had a lot to overcome’ because he’s Asian. People are calling him an underdog because Asians aren’t supposed to be good at basketball and that somehow being Asian and making it in the NBA means he’s an exception because he shouldn’t be able to play at all, like he’s short like Muggsy Bogues or should be starting for the Paralympics squad. It’s racism. People think Lin is ‘inspiring’ and ‘an underdog’ because they’re racist.

  How can anyone justify UCLA and Standford not offering him a scholarship when he he was in their home state and they should’ve known he was tearing sh*t up in high school?
  How can he go undrafted when he was clearly better than some second round picks who have yet to see an NBA court?
  And Harvard isn’t a DII school, Ivy League is DI.
  I was more agreeing with the whole thing about Lin coming from Harvard and making the NBA is a success story as if he wouldn’t have found success regardless.
  But don’t get it twisted, kid definitely had to overcome some sh*t.
  Sure, AI did too, but come on now. Even after that high school brawl and his arrest, schools were still salivating over him and offering him scholarships.
  And that fight and arrest are sh*t he can control, Lin can’t control other peoples prejudices.
  It’s not like AI’s scholarship from GTown was rescinded, he still got to go to his dream school.
  Lin’s dream school, UCLA, wouldn’t give him the time of day.
