Video: Caron Butler Gets Title Ring from Dallas Mavericks

It was an emotional affair for Caron Butler and his former teammates in Dallas last night prior to the Mavericks’ victory over the LA Clippers. From the Star-Telegram: “I was very emotional,’ Butler said. ‘I didn’t think I was going to be as emotional. Having Mark Cuban, Rick Carlisle, the whole standing ovation, it was just … unbelievable. It was a great feleing. I almost cried. I had to put my head down a couple of times to try to gather myself.’ Butler hit three three-pointers in the first period and wound up scoring a season-high 23 points — on 7-of-18 shooting — and grabbing eight rebounds. And he almost became the hero. However, with a chance to put the Clippers up by one point, Butler missed a three-point field goal with 4.5 seconds left. The Mavs went on to win, 96-92.”

I really enjoyed seeing this last night. A part of me wondered if this made him miss the three to win the game.

as a competitor it must feel a little awkward accepting a ring that you really didn’t earn.

hmm… he didn’t play the last 5 months of the season… i’m not sure if he contributes as much as the equipment manager for the title run.
and i actually like Caron, I just don’t think he had anything to do with the mavs winning it all.

Nice moment, classy move by the team.
Couldnt contribute ON the court but was by all reports the consumate professional off hit.
He was on the roster, played well the season before the championship, he deserves his ring.
