Video: Kobe Bryant Passes Shaquille O’Neal for 5th All-Time in Scoring

Kobe Bryant torched the Philadelphia Sixers for 24 first half points tonight, which was just enough to pass former teammate/nemesis Shaq on the NBA’s All-Time scoring list. Bryant now has 28, 597 points in his storied career. Congrats, Bean!

Congrats Kobe, he came out hot from the first minutes of the game. It’s only a matter of time till he takes over the fourth spot at least.

  • Jeremy

Kobe- “Yo Shaq, tell me how my A$$ tastes!”

Reporter: What does this fifth title mean.
Kobe: I have one more than Shaq!!! Your Welcome

kobe fans are a bitter bunch.

  • Jeremy

Their are three other comments, none are bitter in any way.

  • Mtothes

    The Kobe system works!

  • http://www.andywhitby.com Andy Whitby

Great work by the greatest player of our generation.

  • Conor O.

Bynum needs to demand the ball from Bryant. The latter is the G.O.A.T., given his resumé & talent, but he has cost the Lakers far too many games this season, simply to propel his on-court vanity. He must stop, otherwise they will not win their conference, let alone the Finals.

  • Maniac

    Top 3 all-time…

  • Dungeon Family

seems to me @Jtaylor21 you the one that’s bitter because yo lame ass Hate kobe but Stay worrying about his every move

    Like a Scorned ex Girlfriend

You a secret admirer just keep it Trill

  • Dungeon Family

Because I don’t think Your opinion of Kobe is gonna stop him from Being a First ballot HOF

matter fact I KNOW it ain’t

also when Pau gets the ball instead of Being Pau Gasol He turns into Pau Nowitski

  • ripslam

People trying to tell me Kobe is better than Jordan, Russell, or Wilt? Nah.

  • Maniac

@ripslam it’s debatable for Kobe > everyone except Jordan & Russell IMO

  • Red

So he got the list but lost the game..ok lol. He better retire aftee this season cause he’s going downhill after this season.

  • Maniac

Lol like he was supposed to go downhill this season? And the season before that? OK

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Not only are they bitter but also delusional.

    smh

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCbDnPDBff4 Caboose

Kobe fans bother me. Respect the game but don’t rewrite what it is. When all is said and done, Kobe is inarguably top 10 all time. 2nd best SG. Top 5 all time scorer. But don’t you go saying he’s #2.

  • robb

He did it in his hometown, that’s cool. He also made a nice Dr J. impersonation

  • Red

Kobe is a legend and I like the guy. But nobody but Celtics fans were saying Kobe was done but this season has shown he’s at his end. I hope during the playoffs he goes out swinging like mad cause now it just seems he’s trying to just break a record or 2. He aint got it nomore.

  • Mario

I see The usually “kobe haters” are out tonight

hating only make his legacy better because all ya’ll said what he couldn’t do

  • http://www.t-mac.com/tmac/index unf*ckwitable

Dont get the Kobe fans started, Its an argument you just cant win.

  • Maniac

I won’t even go there LOL. I know my history. Believe me, it agrees with me more than most of you ;)

  • http://Slamonline.com nbk

    lol

    oh lawd….

    Great for Kobe. The end.

  • http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/35159/roses-sweet-game-continues-bulls-roll nbk

You guys are delusional idiots. Kobe is easily top 5 all time. You old timers are just so arrogant and biased towards the past.

  • Red

NOBODY has said he isn’t top 5, LOL don’t you look like an arrogant, biased old timer. We’re simply saying he isn’t top 3 all-time. The mans great no doubts about it but his greatness ends here. Stop stanning lol.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

That’s not the real nbk and kobe’s not in the top-5 (not even close)

  • JP7

jus wait til he retires, and they come out with dem dvds on his legacy like those jordan ones, and with the gladiator music and super slow mo and all that. watch em when ur faded or like on some m or sumn, then youll see, you might even cry. kobe is the best, jordan dont count as a human and im not even gonna explain that. kobe is the best human basketball player ever, and i shouldnt have to explain that.

  • ttc

Kobe is second best, that’s obvious; like the guy above my comment said: just wait until he retires & you’ll see..

  • Rik Smits Mullet

    congrats to kobe.
    To jp7 and ttc
i recently watched those early 2000 lakers championship videos with super slomo and uplifting commentary. And it looked a lot like shaq was accepting 3 finals mvps in super slomo. Kobe is a great great player but you guys dont forget shaq helped him a lot with 3 of his rings. Before you say greatest of alltime easly top 3 super slomo some of those early championship videos into your beta max device. And checkout the huge helping hand shaq provided to your hero .

  • jimmer

Anyone think Kobe’s gonna go for this now? You know, taking Kareem’s spot? How far away is he? 8,000? 4 more seasons, maybe, at a decent level. A lot easier than winning more championships, he’s already got 5 of them, no 1. all time scorer is a virtually unatainable milestone. It must’ve crossed his mind. Must’ve.

  • JP7

ur right shaq was amazing, so was phil jackson, robert horry, glen rice, derek fisher, rick fox, pau gasol, andrew bynum etc, nobody wins championships alone, not even mj (phil jackson, scottie pippen, horace grant, john paxon, steve kerr, rodman, toni kukoc, ron harper etc) ur right again too, kobe is my damn hero far as sports go lol i bin watchin him since he was a rookie and i was like 9 or 10, i looked up to him, hes a good reminder that hard work and determination leads to success, and never give up no matter what ppl say or how hard things get. best human player ever.

  • JP7

i think hes more likely to ease off the scoring if the lakers can somehow get a good bench, coach, one more actual superstar, and push for another ring, but if not then he’ll definatley be the all time leading scorer. you know he wants it all tho, most points and more rings than jordan, he stay scheming jus like me and drake, drake sucks tho, hes messin up the game for lightskin dudes, playin into stereotypes with all that tender softness smdh

  • Justin G.

Reading JP7 is worse than trying to read ebonics. Best human player ever? WTF is that? Kobe is probably not top 5 but it’s not a stretch to say top 7 or 8 maybe. Obviously 2nd best SG ever though. And Red, what are you talking about? How has he shown he’s at his end exactly? By leading the league in scoring? Still playing really good defense? Man, get this guy out of the league before he drops to 2nd or 3rd in scoring and really embarrasses himself and his legacy

  • Paul H

I think Kobe, more than any player In the last 20 years, comes with so much baggage that It prevents a lot of fans from making an objective assessment of his place In the history of the game. I believe that once the fog lifts after his retirement, top 10 will be undisputed and top 5 widely believed.

  • JP7

smashed brandy, dunk contest, rings, mvps, asg mvps, 1st team offence and defence, 81 points, 63 in three qs, 12 threes in a game, countless game winners clincher and tiers, comebacks, takeovers, feared, loved, respected and most of all hated, because they are 30 teams in the league, but he only plays for one.

  • Bravo

Y’all know Kobe the man at age 32. He gon surpass mj pls believe

  • Red Star

    KOBE! You’re welcome!!!

  • http://stapledesign.com Spaceship Jay

Kobe is NOT top 5. Second @ sg yes; I’ll take a prime big man over him any day of the week.

  • JP7

i’ll take a prime big man over him any day #no homo #thatswhatshesaid

  • marc

why can’t yal just say congrats to kobe and leave it at that. Always trying throw shade. Ok he’s not top 5 but he’s still a great player and a future hall of famer.

  • JP7

hey look at me, im gonna click on the link to a positive kobe article to say something negative. thats normal behaviour, im cool and smart.

  • jimmer

nobodies really saying anything negative, he’s an awesome player, it’s just an all-time position discussion and ideas about building a basketball team. Most, if not all GM’s would pick a talented big over a talented guard. Remember Hakeen was drafted above Jordan, and even after the impact MJ made, wing players going above bigs remains a rarity. It’s just how building a basketball team works. But even with the wonder of hindsight, if you were to offer any GM today the chance of picking Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O’neal, Wilt Chamberlain, Hakeem Olajuwon or Kobe Bryant as your foundation stone, I’m not sure how much of a dead-cert choice Bryant would prove to be.

  • Maniac

Jimmir, exactly how much of a “dead-cert choice” would Jordan or Magic be in that select group for that matter? What’s your point?

  • jimmer

More of a dead cert than Kobe. The point is, with hindsight, even if you threw in guards, there are guys that would likely be picked before kobe as a foundation stone.

  • http://slamonline.com Sergio

    @JP7 – 8:46am
one of the best comments I’ve seen here

  • Mario
