I prefer 2004-present Kobe over the afro Kobe. Not trying to be like MJ in his speech, no longer saying the politically correct thing. Says what he wants to say. Doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him or his game. Much better.

  • Marc

How can you not respect his game?

  • Dungeon Family

“I want to be the best I can be”

If people would just understand that about Kobe

But on another note whoever made this video Need to Make an Lamar Odom One

I would love to See Lamar go from 2 nba titles and 6th man of the year to falling in love with a woman that look like Bret Hart in the face

Great video loved it. As much as Kobe would say he didn’t model his game after Jordan I beg to differ.

  • AsadSaleh3

Just from watching him play, it’s clear he modeled his game after a few guys, MJ being the biggest influence. Can’t see why people knock him for it. A lot of guys wished they had the talent or drive to emulate MJ yet only one has been successful at it. Kobe Bryant.

    Goosebumps. Nice vid.

  • bubblecat

At around 1:16 Kobe says “I have decided to skip college and take my talent to the NBA”. Lebron wasn’t the first to say that.

Damn, nice mix, that is being immediately downloaded.

@Asad – Kobe’s talent from 1996-2004 was phenomenal, but he was definitely a weird guy, which is expected given his personality and having to literally grow up in front of the bright lights. I mean, the guy wore a dark trench coat to the 2001 White House visit. He also talked in a strange manner, putting on a fake urban accent (e.g – “dat”) when in reality he’s a very well spoken guy. A lot of it was just trying to fit in and “belong”, which I don’t blame him for. Its been great to see him grow as a player and I guess as an individual as I’ve gotten older myself. He has and always will be my favorite athlete. Its going to be really weird watching Laker games without him in about 2-3 years. Its crazy that I used to watch him back in ’98 when he was facing the likes of Jordan, Hornacek, etc. Him, KG, and Duncan were the “young guys”. Most of the fans of the NBA nowadays don’t even know how good Duncan was, which upsets me more than than anything Kobe related, actually.

That’s a great video mix. Much respect for Kobe.

  • fruizm

@Dungeon Family….haha or how about a Ron Artest video? How we went from being a baller from Queens to fighting fans in Detroit to selling his NBA ring to changing his name to METTA WORLD PEACE.

  • jcards

a tear was shed while watching this

  • VanCityVibe

Made me cry a bit. The league will be very different when he retires

  • Rainman

7:35: i remember that like it was yesterday lol

    Damn… Bean

  • Duh

Sweet vid, im a big time bulls fan but can’t help respect what Kobe’s accomplished and how he still produces big time at age 33.

Wish he somehow mixed in “ship his arse out.” lol

Michael Jordan will always be the G.O.A.T. but Kobe is at a different level compared to MJ, which means he needs 7 rings to pass him. The only thing Kobe has as an advantage to MJ is playing more NBA seasons and games and not retiring three times. Kobe also beat MJ in most NBA All Star points record so yeah that’s all I know so far.

  • l2ising Phoenix

This video gave me goosebumps, I remember that game winner against the suns like it was yesterday! Much respect to Kobe, top 5 all time

Matteo Susin in issue 154 was spot on. Kobe is miles ahead of Jordan!

  • buschfire

    nobody is better than MJ.

  • DreDay

This video was great!! Gave me chills, thinking about how I’ve watched this man grow into one of he greatest!! ’96 will be a memorable year for me. Kobe was drafted, MJ and the Bulls put the smash on The Glove and Kemp in the Finals, The Olympics were in Atlanta. Hell of a year!!

“Kobe is miles ahead of Jordan!” <— lol

  • LobCity

“I’m taking my talents” lol…..So that’s where it came from

  • blackthought

great video, second 2 mike, nobody will be able to copy 23, like kobe did.

  • jinolin

Hubie Brown with proper commentary, love that guy.
Kobe is second to MJ all time, yet that same distance is the size of a football field.

  • jinolin

The most interesting question in this era of basketball is what could have been had Shaq & Beans stayed together for 10 plus with Dr. Phil at the helm.

  • Rainman

@ blackthought& jinolin: ur doing about 4-5 other great players an injustice by callin Kobe the second greatest of all time…As great as Kobe is. Im not even gonna adress the slurper by the name of BRYANT BYNUM GASOL , lol
