Video: Dwyane Wade Flagrantly Fouls Darren Collison

Things are getting chippy in this matchup.

Dwyane Wade was an unhappy man on numerous fronts last night, and took out Darren Collison with a flagrant foul during a Pacers fast break.

If it’s not Dwyane Wade committing that foul it would have been an F2.

  • whooo!

James Posey got ejected for the exact same play a couple years ago in the playoffs

  • riggs

I told you, this team gets away with a lot of sh*t.

  • Sean

Should be ejected and face a ban – this isn’t too different then Artest’s elbow. Alot of force in that push – guy’s aren’t on grass surfaces and aren’t wearing helmets. What if he knocked his head off the ground? What if he twisted up his knee or ankle or fell badly on his hand. That’s an ejection and 1 game suspension if you ask me.

  • Mike Mihalow

Agreed with you guys. That was also a clear path foul. So did he get the Flagrant free throws, clear path free throws, and the ball? (I’m doubting it, since this is the Heat).

  • BigRose174

This is the same exact ply Jason Smith got SUSPENDED for against Blake Griffin. Wade on the other hand just gets a flagrant 1. SMH u gotta be kidding me.

  • SimonDiamond

Agree with BigRose174 100%!! Jason Smith just ran into Blake and got suspended, DWade was looking to send a message and didnt even get ejected smh

Let’s be real. There is no way that a ref is calling an F2 on Wade in the 4th quarter of close game. It would have to be a pure hack that couldn’t be questioned.

  • MikeC.

When I saw it in real-time, it looked like Wade was accelerating for a chase-down block and Collison slowed a half-step to draw contact for a shooting foul and Wade just steamrolled him with the body. Slo-mo replay shows the forearm shove. I keep waiting for a new post that the league has reviewed the foul and upgraded the penalty. I was starting to not irrationally hate the Heat and was trying to just enjoy good teams playing hard. If this doesn’t get upgraded to at least a flagrant-2 (I know it won’t mean anything with the game over, but at least it would be a gentleman’s nod to the rules), I’m back to irrational Heatred and Delonte West mama jokes.

so then if 4th quarter whistles are a little looser than why was KG called for an illegal pick game 2 against the 76ers? that was good defence by dwest too so he can be mad he missed the shot but it was a good no call

Thats right Wade steamrolled him. It was collison after all. It aint no biggie.

Co-sign @ bigrose … doesn’t look any different than the two games Jason Smith got for chargin Blake Griffin. Remember everybody on these boards and in the media calling for Smith’s head after that one… no way D-Wade gets suspended

  • Bruno

how many times are we seeing this type of fouls from wade just saying

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

He could get suspended for that. That’s very similar to what Jason Smith did earlier this year. And what Posey did in the past. In fact, if the doesn’t get suspended, folks should be upset that the League is being inconsistent.

  • furiousfunkfanatic

I remember the finals against Dallas, where Stackhouse made a similar foul on Shaq and was suspended.

    Supastar treatment!!

Why would the nba suspend him? that would increase the possibility of a sixers pacers ECF, which isn’t exactly gonna draw in your average joe

  • http://www.twitter.com_dfrance dfrance21

If the refs would have done their job and ejected him, the league wouldn’t be under pressure to step up and do something right now. NBA officiating is usually average at best, but it seems to be worse this year. I know the refs wanna try and let the guys play, but the charge/block calls, the flopping, travelling, flagrants have all been called incredibly inconsistently this year and its on full display in this seasons playoffs.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Jahmai

I agree with most people here, this should’ve been a flagrant 2 foul and if the league wants to be consistent (as mentioned by comments above me) this could/should be a suspension.

  • underdog

Wade lost it for a minute there. It was a hard foul, but nothing dangerous. He deserved the F1. But I wonder, why the crowd boo a guy at the FT, who just got flagrant fouled…

  • http://www.slamonline.com Double J

God dang… this team is a bunch of thugs! LETS GO PACERS! BORN READY IT’S YO TIME!

  • Sizzle

Everyone is also forgetting that the play before Wade thought he was fouled and I am pretty sure that made Wade want to Collison like that to show up the refs. I agree it should have been a flagrant 2 and ejection, but the refs were probably thinking we just let the last play slide (even though it was just good D by Jones)and Wade was unhappy, so we have to give him the benefit of the doubt here and call a Flagrant 1 instead of 2. This is all coming from a Heat/Wade fan too!

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

    collison should get more PT.

  • http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-bulls-talk/2011 Diesel

He should be suspended I agree. This is even worse than what Jason did because it was from behind. Shoot, he should have been suspended for his shove on Rip a few games back. How much longer is the NBA going to let Wade cheap shot people? Does someone need to be seriously injured for this guy to get a suspension? And all because he didn’t get the call. There’s not a bigger baby in the NBA than Wade.

  • logues

wade just keeps giving me reasons to not like him

  • http://www,slamonline.com S-Mills

Anybody comparing this to the Smith hit or the Worldpeace elbow is delusional. Its an F2 at the VERY worst, no suspension. When you look at the situation- late in a close PLAYOFF game, missed call on other end- I think the Refs made the right decesion.

  • Duh

Well of course the refs didn’t eject him, Davi Stern tells em the deal before the game even starts. They know they can’t eject/call more than 3 fouls on LeBron & DWade. It’s sad when you know your favorite sports league is corrupt but what we gonna do bout it? Miami been getting so much ref assistance since the playoffs started how can they NOT win it all?

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Usually Wade would get that call when Jones went straight up. Usually. This is the playoffs though. Different contact is allowed. He’s gotta not cry about it and get back on D. I personally think that the hit wasn’t hard enough and the result was not dangerous enough to have done any major damage so I don’t think he should be suspended. But as far as consistency goes… Yeah he probably should be.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

LeBron doesn’t get fouls because he actively avoids them. Also, he had four fouls in Game One.
Wade fouled Collison out of spite and it was a very bad foul. He could have messed dude up. It reminded me of what Andre Miller did to Blake Griffin last year.

  • MAS

Had that foul been by World Peace…at least 7 seven games vacation.

  • Ill Smith

That wasnt Duh that was me. Cmon SLAM getcha ish together.

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

That deserves a suspension in every single way. Not a basketball play, obvious excessive contact, and clear intention to hurt. That kind of stuff can end careers. If the NBA doesn’t give him one game, then the league is as rigged towards the Heat as they were to the Lakers in 01-02.

  • @boweezy24

Illuminati Helping These Cats! Heat Should Be Able To Win With The Refs Helping Out.

  • DUDE3000

I’ve read most these comments and agree heavily the sloppy officiating and also a bunch of these stars acting like str8 divas is sickening. I’ve watched the NBA since i was a kid and i feel its changed so much i can’t stand all the B*tchin. just shut up and play its what u get payed to do. My perception of the NBA has gone done so much over the years i really hope they can turn it around b4 i turn it around and find a new league to watch. and cosign @boweezy24

  • http://nyill.wordpress.com/ O

I told y’all, when you play against the Heat it’s 5 on 8. But nooooooo, they just THAT much better than other teams. The Pacers starting 5 were basically one foul away from fouling out at the beginning of the 3rd quarter! LeBron on the meanwhile got his first foul halfway through the 4th. SMH. Telling you, the refs are gonna make sure that the Heat take it all this year.

  • Jay

Darren Collison got up WAAAY to fast. Collison should have pulled the Lebron James/Blake Griffin/ and Chris Paul and took a 5 minute nap after Wade shoved him. The refs might have ejected him if Collison did a little acting. I don’t like flooping folks, but as much as Miami does it, a little karma would’nt hurt.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Nick Tha Quick

Wade is known for borderline flagrant retaliatoty hits (not that other guys don’t do it) but he seems to get away with it more than anyone else. Y’all remember the hit on Kobe that broke his nose at the ASG. Similar situation: feels he shoulda got the call on one end, eviscerates dude on the next play.

  • LA Huey

Wow. Wade should get suspended a game. No attempt to make a actual play there.

  • Cameron

I have no respect for DWade anymore. He used to be my favorite player on the heat, but he’s turned into an ass. Must be because he realized the Heat is LeBrons team now.
