Video: Kobe Bryant Says Lakers Can’t Guard the OKC Thunder

Kobe Bryant, fresh off of a Game 1 beatdown in the second round series against the OKC Thunder, sarcastically and hilariously responded to a local reporter’s question about the Lakers’ ability (or lack thereof) to slow down their opponents.

Kobe’s the best player ever. I watched game 1 and it was really bad. It would be a bigger blowout without him. The king is a total queen if he thinks that.

  • Mike

@the king: you’re talking about a guy playing in his 16th season. If you see a bit of drop off please excuse father time, for he’s only undefeated!! If you look @ career games played its like almost 18 years of playing the game @ a level only a few know of. So chill out when father time catches KD & LBJ & if you asked me he tapping Wade on the shoulder you’ll see a drop off in them, does that mean he can’t play?

  • Mike

@the king: you talking about winning again when the man got 5 rings? If he don’t win again top 5 dead or alive!!!! I said it!!

  • Scalabrine for MVP

    Well said mike

  • coggie13

As Sir Charles said, If the lakers want a shot.. Kobe has to try and shut down Westbrooke.

  • Scalabrine for MVP

also if bynum continues to play like game one the only sixth ring kobe’s getting is for his engagement to kate faber.

@Theking, thank you for being such a glorious product of the american public school system. Your prose is excellent may I add. Excellent vocabulary as well, you must read a lot. Ps, kobe is a god.

It’s hard to tell what lowers the average IQ around here most, Kobe’s season, LeBron’s standing in history, or the Knicks’ trade/signing plans.

    The king = The illiterate

  • shutup

@Hossy how the f&ck do you know he’s from the american school system? You act like there aren’t stupid ignorant illiterate people from whatever backwards @ss country you hail from

  • Tweaks

@shutup …oh don’t get mad bro…..you’re from the same system too..I BET !! I’m European, and yeah i take pride in being more educated than any american i’ve ever met. I speak/write in at least two languages and most of the time hold myself from replying to the horrendous chat going on around here. Theking is obviously a fat f** who can’t ball and right now is just letting some fan-obsessive frustration on this thread. I bet he’s a Lebron fan. A basketball band wagoner. As for Kobe, he’s the MAN, anyone who KNOWS basketball knows this nuff said.

  • shutup

@tweaks your credentials don’t impress me. I’ve met some pretty dumb f%cks from the land of the Queen. Just stop trying to peg every illiterate dumb @ss as an American. Oh and btw Kobe is a man who just got handed a 30-point blowout and Lebron just got handed a loss at the hands of the Pacers. Meanwhile the Spurs are quietly rolling over people with Tim Duncan putting on a clinic.

@dfrance – flopping may not be great to watch but positional defense is essential if you have any hope in hell of guarding an elite athlete. If Blake doesn’t try to draw a charge, his steak is already grilled. You’ve got to try and get every inch of advantage to slow down an elite and if refs completely stop blowing on positional charges, the NBA is going to be nothing more than a track meet. #justsayin

    not many teams can

Let me sum up the king’s comments real quick so you won’t have to attempt to make sense of them. HERP DERP

@Harlem_World I have no problem with trying to draw a charge, but fall when the hit actually makes you fall, don’t flop. Blake took the very same hit the next time down and didn’t fall, which means to me that it wasn’t offensive.

  • the king

I never said kobe was not good or great in the past now he is on the down side of his career that’s the whole thing kd is geting better lbj still can get better that all i’m saying now is anyone going telling me that’s not the case then I’m makeing no sensekobe is still a top player just not #one he was #one by a mile not now

OKC will never have another game like gm 1. Just 4 turnovers. Its not in their DNA to play flawless. Their strenght is their youth, enery, athleticism and their inside defensive presense. They make lots of mistakes like youths. They tend to shoot lots of jumpshots. They have a terrible coach. His only adjustment when the shots are not falling is to shoot more jumpshots. Their only cerebral offensive player us Harden. He can create plays for other players as well as for himself. With that said the Lakers can capitalize on their faults if Browne can come up with a good game plan. But hes no Popovich.

Hey Tweaks, let’s try this just to prove to you that the American school system isn’t entirely wrecked. I was born in California, went to public school for grades 1-12, and now attend University of California, Berkeley, the top public school in the world. I am bilingual, and currently receiving honors on my way to being accepted to a PhD program. Not all of us Americans are idiots.

  • Cole

Yeah Kobe was being sarcastic in his mind but in reality hes really telling the truth. Case in point, Lakers lost by 29 points that night… Twenty-nine points… not 2 or 9 or 2 AND 9 together which would be 11, but 29!! Thats 2 AND 9 AND 11 PLUS an additional 7!
