Video: Lil Wayne Inspired by Kobe Bryant

Up close and personal with Weezy.

While sitting courtside at a recent Lakers game, the L.A. Times got (a little too) up close and personal with Lil’ Wayne to talk hoops and what inspires him musically. The New Orleans native claims that Kobe Bryant is the “greatest player to ever touch a basketball” and that he is an inspiration to him both in and outside the booth. Catch the full interview above.

I’m so glad this Lil Wayne fad has passed. Can’t believe at one point heads was putting him on their top 5 dead or alive list. SMH…

If you like club hip-hop he’d be top 5. If you, like me, prefer str8 MC rap he doesn’t make the list. Their ain’t nothing wrong with dancing though.

    LMAO @ this dude.
I’m not a hater. I respect the skills he does have. He has rapping skills. Sometimes they aren’t apparent sometimes he is just garbage, but he is always him and I will always respect that.
A ridiculous quote by him, but that goes along with the territory. Rappers always hyping up their guy. Jay Z would probably say Derron is better than Magic…

‘Has he inspirerd any of your songs?’

Its not as if Weezy has a song called Kobe Bryant or anything.

  • Kas

just because he fell of (hard) doesn’t mean he wasn’t the greatest (by a landslide) back in 02-06/7.

Love Lil Wayne. Some of his lyrics are so spot on you can use them as motivational quotes. Dude is a poet. Best rapper we have today in the “new school.” I know what he means about respecting Kobe…it’s all bout his tenacity, drive, and overall work ethic. Desire to be the best at his craft. Working hard while others are playing during the off-season. Truth is there is no off-season.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Oh Melissa Rohlin. So hot. Want to touch the hiney. Shout out to Billy Madison for that.

  • nails

If I here one more person ask Lil Wayne about the inspiration for his music I’m going to snap. IT’S MONEY!!!!!! IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN MONEY!!!! People need to understand that and stop trying to disect this guys lyrics like he’s some modern day philosopher. Most of his lyrics are witty and clever which is not bad but witty and clever does not mean its deep or meaningful. You know why he said his inspiration is his kids? Because you need MONEY to feed your kids.

  • nails

and by the way….when did Wayne fall off? When he drops an album he still sells more than anyone else, and skill wise is still better than 99.99% of rappers

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

^^^^ “Every finish line is the beginning of a new race,” was genius by Lil Wayne. It’s deep. How can you not SEE that?

  • manu

that chick is like a 6 or 7 at best lmao….people on here r whack
