Video: Metta World Peace, Russell Westbrook Get Tangled Up

Elbow and knee attacks!

Russell Westbrook and MWP got tied up while going for the ball in the second quarter of Game 3. Westbrook threw an elbow to World Peace’s calf, and Metta followed with a what appeared to be an unintentional knee. Both were hit with Ts.

    At the end when the ref is pushing Westbrook back, he’s like;
    Come at me bro

Metta World Peace should sell his OKC vacation home. I don’t think he is welcomed anymore.

why would anyone want to vacation in okc…

  • tomtom

I’m glad Breen and JVG were calling this game, ’cause Reggie and Marv would vilify Meta as always. (btw yes, i know what he did to Harden was bad.)

  • Jer dawg

Ron is throwing everything at people. Knees and elbows. He’s got a career in MMA somewhere. Damn, I’m a Laker fan but even i think he’s bush league. Smh

  • robb

I don’t think it was an unintentional knee. Ron needs to be smarter.

  • 23

first off, lets stop with this mwp crap. his names ron artest. and he ALWAYS does things like this. just to frustrate dudes. i dont blame westbrook for reacting that way because ron is known for this. he purposely annoys other players. some people call it being agressive or gritty. i jut see it as plain annoying and non-basketball related. btw that knee from artes was DEF NOT unintentional! come on now its ron artest here!!! SMH

  • fruizm

@23…exactly…please lets continue calling him Ron Artest.

  • EJ

Russ did elbow Artest in the knee before Ron “kneed” him.

    looked more like ron fell

  • slamfan4life

    that’d be a quick fight…

  • MeloMan15

@Junkie.. oh yea, one knee conveniently fell on westbrook while the rest of Ron’s body remained perfectly balanced? Artest has become so dirty its ridiculous

  • http://www.slamonline.com Rasho Nesterovic

    World Peace vs. John Jones???

Westbrook is NOT tough. He’s just hard looking.

Looks like tarzan, fights like jane.

  • namik

Westbrook elbowed Ron in the back off the knee and hence he went down, any idiot can see that. That was a weak ass knee if it was intentional.

  • shutup

I don’t know why people just assume Artest can fight, because he’s crazy? Crazy people bleed too you can tell he’s not all there look at his eyes after the scrum gets broken up. He is absolutely a dirty player and the knee was intentional but no harm no foul, the thunder need to let Collison or some one on the end of the bench take him out one good time, take the flagrant and let World Peace imploded and take the Lakers with him.

westbrook really thinks he’s a thug lmao

  • LakersRus

Metta was just trying to tie him up or get the basketball! Westbrook initiated the confrontation! So quit putting this all on Metta, just because of the elbow incident!

  • http://www.slamonline.com Chubachuchi

If these 2 were to fight Artest would definitely win but Westbrook ain’t the type that backs down. He overreacted on this one though.

  • jay cutler

lol @ the slurpers claiming that ‘big, strong, tough’ Ron Artest fell perfectly on one knee because Russell Westbrook elbowed him in the back of the knee while lying on his back.

  • Mike Mihalow

Westbrook swung at Artest, probably thinking his rep would get him in trouble. Artest only fell on him after Westbrook pulled him down. Westbrook deserved a 1-game suspension, but that’ll never happen.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

I love Westbrook. Always said he’s perfect for Durant.
As for Artest, (glad people still call him Artest) I agree with shutup.
But ever since that quagmire at the Palace, I have never been convinced that Artest can fight.
He wanted no part of Ben Wallace. So, he starts swinging on fans. One would figure that a 6’7″ 250 lbs. Artest can knock out the majority of the average fans with one punch.
Didn’t happen… He almost really had to fight before Chuck Person makes more of an ass out of the situation, and saves Artest.
    Artest is a bully.
    Nothing more.
    Nothing less.
I, personally, believe that Wesbrook would kick Artest’s ass in a fair one. Repeat. FAIR one. For, Artest always seems to land a “sucker” blow first.

  • lxm

It was an elbow, he threw it, he should have been ejected.

  • Scalabrine for MVP

why the hell did metta get a technical. Sticking his body in the way of westbrook’s feet?

  • http://Roosterteeth.com Caboose

That’s definitely Russ’ fault. And just for the record, Westbrook is a fake tough guy; dude grew up in Long Beach and went to UCLA. I’ve seen Russ play and he is a punk, not a tough guy.

  • vtrobot

“Unintentional”. That’s hilarious. Hill got a little kick in there right before Russ got to his feet too, but I’m sure that wasn’t on purpose either. He was probably using his foot to help Westbrook up. Both T’s deserved. Ron should have taken it a little bit further and given him an accidental pile driver.

  • timMAY!

I swear half of yall are just blind and idiots. Legally his name is Metta World-Peace not Ron Artest. Also, Westbrook overreacted and hit MWP in his calf causing his left knee to buckle on him. Science and physics is kind of a good to know sometimes. Westbrook should have fairly been ejected for this. If there were any laker that should have gotten a tech from it all, it should have been on Hill.

  • Cameron

This time it wasn’t ARTEST’s fault whatsoever. ARTEST was going after a jump ball when punk bit ch Westbrook overreacted. (I grew up calling him Ron Artest and I’m not gonna change that)
