Video: Rajon Rondo Gets Upset at a Cameraman for Filming Him

Some understandable post-game frustration from the Celtics guard.

Last night, minutes after a tough Game 5 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, during which he coughed up the rock at the worst possible moment, an ornery Rajon Rondo became upset when a cameraman wouldn’t stop filming him in a hallway. Naturally, the Inside the NBA crew clowned Rajon for the hideous jacket he was rocking.

The cameraman had a TMZ moment. I’m not mad at Rondo for being annoyed. However, if he continues to wear sh#t like that jacket he’s going to need an intervention.

  • http://nba.com/celtics lights out

Rondo and Dave Chappelle are two guys who in my book are cool enough to wear whatever the hell.

  • misso

thats the worst jacket I’ve ever seen

Quit filming. You do NOT film me.

  • @boweezy24

Fine him and 2 Game Suspension. jk

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

It was family time. Camera guys need to respect that.

  • fruizm

I used to tell my mom the same when I was a kid and she wanted to film me shooting hoops!

  • Ranlygeorge

Yes, he deserve privacy and the camera person should have respected that.
With that said, Rondo deserve a seven day suspension and a fine for wear that
ugly Jacket . Go Celtics. Get rid of Atlanta and stop playing with them

  • bike

The reason he was wearing that jacket is was heading out to a party hosted by Richard Jefferson.

  • Nick

    lol @bike

  • Mike Mihalow

There’s no privacy in the playoffs.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    Was that a Gordon Gartelle?

  • chris

Nobody liked the clyde frazier inspired jacket? I’m wondering who was with him when he was thinking about buying it, and told him that’s a good look.

  • Fat Lever

Hahahahah, shout out to Allenp for the Cosby Show reference. “And as for you Boss Hog, very insulting what you said about my coat. It’s made out of your mothers p*bic hairs”

  • bike

I stink of gorilla juice all day. Errday.

  • Heals

Barkley was funny on TNT last night talking about this. I’m more interested in the Smoove-Rajon bond than anything else. C’s almost snagged him a couple years back…

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Rondo, what kind I say about that jacket that hasn’t already been said about afghanistan? it looks bombed out and depleted.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

    I like the jacket.
It’s the undershirt that is his fashion demise.

  • Your Friendly Neighborhood Dopeman

Rondo was right. There’s time for interviews. Lmao, the guy filming said he was just doing his job. Recording people w/ their wife and kids is doing you job? Sounds like a stalker to me.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

So exactly what undershirt should he have worn? lol.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/online/media/slam-tv/2012/05/video-rajon-rondo-gets-upset-at-a-cameraman-for-filming-him/ Rondo’s #1 Fan

thats what i was thinking. Only an idiot would camera creep a guy who is standing in a huddle with his fiance and Josh Smith and his wife. They are bragging up Horford so why the hell arent they recording him. Rondo needed to do something to the guy cause that is plain creepy.

  • Jerome

The “just doing my job” line is always employed when the person saying it knows they’re doing wrong.

  • LP

    Rondo sounded like Michael Jackson….

  • Cameron

Word to Fat Lever for the Chapelle joke. Playa haters ball. And I like that jacket, just don’t like the orange collar. It look’s out of place.

  • lakernation

Rondo’s a prick! The cameraman had an access pass to film players back there, its not like Rondo was out with his family at a private establishment….. Family time should be at home. Cameraman was just doing his job.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

I think a black undershirt would make that jacket pop personally lol. Nuff about clothes though…

  • Da-Meat-Hook

That jacket looked better on BEETLEJUICE!

  • http://www.twitter.com/_dfrance dfrance21

    Nick Young’s shirt>Rondo’s jacket. lol

  • Heals

France, you see CP3′s kid looking at Young like he was from another planet? Good stuff…

  • http://slamonline BossTerry

You’re a celebrity.. People with cameras want to film celbrities.. Didnt thet cover this at the introduction meetings just days after you were drafted?

  • http://Slamonline.com 1982

I can’t see the video at work, all this talk makes me want to see it. And I feel weird bc SLAM used to make me feel manly in HS, and now I’m trying to google Rondo Clothes Game 5.

  • 20folife

Is it just me or does rondo look like the brutha that shot ricky in boyz n da hood?

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

On one hand I respect the privacy issues, but I think Rondo was just being a prick. He doesn’t like the media. He believes he has the ability to dictate to the camera man when and how to do his job.
And he tried to punk him. That rubs me the wrong way.

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

    But back to that jacket.
I guess the Blouses don’t win every game.

  • call me li

I think he tried to get him with the point and staredown, didn’t work. Jacket is not that bad…unique. black undershirt would make it more smooth though

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

Rondo clearly asks “how many times do I have to tell you?” at the beginning of their confrontation. So this clearly wasn’t the first time he’d asked this guy. I’m fine with Rondo on this.

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

    Gordon Gartelle?
Shout out to Malcolm Jamal Warner and Lisa Bonet.
    Shout out @Allenp.

  • gawe

hes not a celebrity- he did not sign up to be a celebrity but an athlete.
the stardom hes getting is something else, do you see kwame brown getting this? or samardo samuels getting this?.
its just pure media talk- its to be expected but not to be over-done

Rondo correct to feel this way. probably wasnt the first time the cameraman got told off.

dont call me serious. just wanna keep people clear and not be stupid like you

  • Wtf

M Cho “family time”? WTF. He is at work. This is a job requirement. Let’s just all agree that Rajon PMS’ a whole lot and is still on his brat sh1t, but you think he’s not because he leads a team. Sidenote: if this dude had a pure J he would never pass and would have a selfish attitude only rivaled by AI. Think about it. Side sidenote: I love his passing and deception. W T F

  • http://thetroyblog.com Teddy-the-Bear

Now that man right there I’d hate to fight… His jacket looks like underwear with d!ckholes in’em.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

@Wtf: his job doesn’t require him to be in front of cameras from the moment he sets foot in the arena. There are clearly designated times for press access before and after games. Just because Rondo’s in the NBA doesn’t mean he gives up all privacy. You want cameras following him into the shower too? The bathroom?

  • http://abcnews.com charliewinning

Since the footage of him talking to his family had absolutely no basketball purpose, I fail to see the reason why the cameraman insisted on filming him right before a press conference. I guess it’s only fitting that cameramen act like paparazzi since sportswriters often act like tabloid writers. Oh and co-sign M-CH. Great points.

  • http://stapledesign.com Spaceship Jay

‘Na for real… stop filming my jacket.’

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Camera guys regularly film players in the bowels of the arean. How do you think we get this iconic shots of them walking into the game? Be reasonable.
There are entire rooms set aside for players’ families that no one can enter. They have tons of places where they can have privacy that are not a hallway in the arena.
Exactly how was Rondo’s life being negatively impacted by being filmed right there? No one has answered that question. The camera man was trying to capture some candid shots of him after the game. NBA players deserve a certain modicum of privacy as humans, but standing in the arena hallway is the wrong place to expect it. There are mad random people milling around there.

  • http://www.michaelcho.com M Cho

@Allen: Cameramen are allowed to film that shot of them coming from parking into the arena. In this clip, my inference was that the camera guy is standing in one doorway, filming into another area that he probably isn’t allowed access to. You may say the filming doesn’t “negatively impact” Rondo’s life, but some ballers would disagree — some dudes just DON’T like the media. Period. And they don’t want to have any more contact with them than is required by their contracts. I respect that.
