An emotional Kevin Durant exited Miami with an L, but he promised to work harder than ever this summer with hopes of returning to the NBA Finals someday soon.

I’ll bet it killed him…but you know he will kill himself this offseason to get better. And he will get better. Believe it.
I felt for this dude when I saw this. Heres to hoping he uses this as motivation to get back.
Defense and adding bulk has to be keys for KD in the off-season.
I used to think that he improved defensively throughout the season but his play on the defensive end during the Finals shows he has a long ways to go.
DONT WORRY LIL BUDDY YOU’ll GET YOU FIRST RING AFTER #6 RETIRES
Gotta feel for Durant and the rest of the players but no props for Clay “THIEF” Bennett ; worse owner than Donald Sterling, Dan Gilbert, Michael Jordan, and Glen Taylor combined tenfold.
People forget that Durant and Westbrook are essentially still just kids. They have a tremendous amount to be proud of. No huge superstars, just a young team that played with so much talent and heart that they reached The Finals. Unfortunately, The Finals are a different game than the rest of the post-season and they leave little room for error or inexperience. This team will be great in the future and it`s wonderful to see how they all support each other.
sad for Durant but NOT SAD FOR CLAY BENNETT! YOU SNAKE.
Next season’s got to be scary….
Even Big Perk walked past there teary eyed, hurts like heck when you get so far and come up short.
Seems like Harden kinda wanted to join in ..
What did Clay Bennett do?
If they keep the team as it stands now, i don’t see anyone in the west challenging them for the next couple of years. Clips need more time and pieces, grizz are not good enough and la, dal and sas all continue to get older. Only howard to the west can threaten them.
In the east its another year of miami, as new york is searching, indiana growing, boston declining and chicago recovering.
why be sad for him?
There can only be one winner every single year.
The winner is the team who have worked the hardest.
come on guys, stuff like this shouldnt be online for the public.
They did the same thing to Bosh last year so not surprised they do it to KD.
That’s motivation right there. KD is just getting started.
Shout out @Maurice Cheeks keeping it moving.
Like, he’s been through these wars many, many times. Which he has.
To quote nbk, OKC situation is not as rosy and dendelionly as everyone thinks.
Where’s all the people that usually bash the players that lose in da Finals? When the Mavs lost in 06 everyone was after dirk calling him too soft, same with LeBron last year and with Howard three years ago. I’m a big KD fan (GO Longhorns!!!!)but the commentators and everyone else are giving him a pass because he’s young. He didn’t come up clutch in the 4th quarter of the last three games and looked lost and scared to have the ball in his hands (ala LeBron in last years finals).
Ain’t nothing wrong with letting those tears flow. He’ll get a ring for sure.
Man this actually hit me tho even though I’m MIAMI all day
that fact that KD will only get better with such a growing line up with players like RWestbrook and JHarden is scary… dont worry bud you’ll get em
Means you’re one of the good Heat fans@Kobe.
I wanted to cry with him and hold him in that moment. I felt his pain. He’s gonna get to the Finals plenty more times. Cheer up.
even though i can never root for the Thunder (shoutout to #Supersonics, RunNGun, Wixurrs, LakeShow), i feel terrible for durant. but i put the blame on the team for not getting the ball to Kevin and at least make last night’s match a closer game instead of the blow-out that it was. it was infuriating because every time he touched the ball, he somehow willed the ball into the basket.
KD needs to find out whatever lebron did this past offseason and do that Sh*t.
Honestly, unless there is some kind of genetic miracle this summer, KD will always get manhandled by LeBron, he’s just to light. I don’t think its because he doesn’t work hard, its just his natural frame, nothing you can really do about it. He just needs to learn how to get around it.
KH10 since Bron trained with KD, KD shall now train with himself!
KD should get on the time honored Squats and Milk program this summer. It’s been around forever and it’s not unusual for a guy to gain 30 pounds of muscle in a few months. It is brutal…but KD has the work ethic to pull it off.
Lots of love for KD, but people were making jokes about Bosh last year… No crying in basketball, huh?
Durant is 15 pounds away from becoming the most destructive force the game has ever seen. Yeah, even better than MJ.
^ Agreed. Once his disposition cools even a little (i.e. Bryant/Jordan rage)… He’ll be the most devastating player since prime, legal-elbows Shaq. Without the elbows.
co-sign Airsmith. If someone pours their heart and soul into accomplishing something, there’s nothing shameful about letting the tears overwhelm you when you fall short. We’ll see you in London, KD.
yall made it seem like he broke and cried you can barely tell that he was crying , wasnt that they couldnt win they just wasnt acting like a team, Westbrook and durant did all the work. I hope they all went home and had a pity party except for westbrook and durant. I hope we get a new coach and they better not touch any of my team.
didnt show up, no heart
Brad, he played poor defense but let’s not act like he didn’t drop 32 shooting over 50%.
This is all a part of the process for a superstar. Him losing this year could be the best thing that has happened to him, in retrospect. Like Cormega said, “I ain’t afraid to fail, if later it’ll help me succeed”.
Just a headsup like @AiRsMiTh, last year Bosh was crying also and many losers were bashing him, I don’t see any of them here. People shouldn’t be so biased, if you gonna bash, do it equally. The main thing here is that it is ok to let emotions flow when the goal was not achieved, it does not make you less than a man, does it? Biased so-called “fans”
dfrance, I just don’t agree. With LeBron being “too big” for him he put up 30,6,2,1,1 on 55% FG’s… I mean, dude balled for the most part. He could use some extra muscle, but even if he loses 5 lb’s this summer he is still going to lead the L in scoring and be a force.
The saying “You can’t win when you’re young unless your Magic” continues…100% feel for this dude. HEADS UP KD
Only a clown would make fun of a guy showing emotion after a devestating loss. But here me out on this one… OKC had to suffer this pain. Their post-season run was eerily similar to Miami’s last year… in that Miami’s first 3 rounds they stormed through the competition, going 12-3 before losing to Dallas in the finals. What was OKC’s record in their first 3 rounds? 12-3. I don’t think they were really challenged to the point that they needed to be in order to win the crown. Yeah they fell down 2-0 to Spurs, but they came home for next two games. This was their first taste of adversity in the post-season, and history almost guarantees is what they needed in order to break through for the future. Barring any injuries, I’m almost guaranteeing a 2013 Finals rematch with these two. The Heat will definitely be there, with no D-Rose and the Celtics probably being made over, there’s no contender in the East. As for OKC, I’m just as confident in their chances out west… who scares you out there? The vaunted “jump-shooting” Spurs, or Kobe’s Lakers?
its crazy to think that anyone in the league can consistently score big points against Lebron, but as soon as KD asserts himself in the post more (gain some pounds) and work on his defensive principles, this man will be fully equipped for war
Everyone is entitled to deal with a tough loss as they see fit. Durant got emotional and that’s cool. Westbrook dealt with it in his own way–he was observed biting the heads off homeless puppies later that night.
Speaking of Durants fit…whats up wit those red/pink chinos he wore at the press conference afterwards smh!
People were hard on Bosh because he fell out like a diva. Nothing wrong with this. Nothing against Bosh, I actually find dude hilarious.
Yeah I like KD and all but where’s the parity? Bosh does this last year and most commenters on this site were accusing him of being a wuss, wimp, etc. Yet practically NO ONE is making these same accusations towards Durant. It’s cool if Durant gets emotional but not if Bosh does? Am I in a DC comic and everyone just turned into Two-Face?
When I seen this it made almost made me tear. KD had every right to cry. He just lost 4-1 (4 straight loses). It was a moment of vulnerability that we as sports fans always make fun of or dismiss as being “soft”. I will continue to root for KD. This loss was needed to fuel his competitive fire & work harder not just to be a scoring champion, but an NBA Champ. (SN: his mother didn’t want to let his hand go. That was sweet/touching)
retrobat – this isn’t the same thing I guess, but in comparison we’re talking about a 23 year old kid, and a 27 year old young man. It’s not alot in the grand scheme of things, but the maturity between 23 and 27 is rather huge. Plus, the 23 year old LED his team to the NBA Finals, and Chris Bosh last year all but disappeared in the series while they were still learning to play together. The Finals appearances meant different things to these two players. And yes, if fair is fair both of them should be ridiculed. But this is sports, and fair isn’t in the vocabulary.
Thanks for the reply 1982. Well put. You have some valid points, but I was under the impression that people dissed Bosh on the principal of crying as opposed to his perceived character. Maybe due to the barbs from Shaq and the “soft” label, he wasn’t given a pass like Durant gets. And you’re right, there is no “fairness” in sports.
