Video: Rajon Rondo Criticizes Miami Heat for ‘Crying’ to Refs

Shots fired.

Referees have played an unfortunately large role in the Eastern Conference Finals. Rajon Rondo acknowledged as much, by taking time during both the in-game and postgame interviews last night to call out the Miami Heat for trying to moan and cry their way to favorable calls.

I love it when Rondo says true stuff with a poker-faced delivery.
Like the other night when he said, “I feel good. I’m young.”
His basketball IQ is in LeBron/Pippen/Jordan category.

One of the smartest people in the NBA.

Slam, you guys should really put him on the next cover – with his 4 triple-doubles in the playoffs. With the quote “I feel good. I’m young.” on the cover.

I always told those I coached that until they agreed to roughly 50% of close ref calls, be it for their team or against, they were not being objective. Whereas Rondo complained about the Heat’s questioning bad calls, the same thing would apply to him.

It was very clear to me that a number of the close calls against LeBron were, in fact, wrong….and replays would reveal this to be true.

Perhaps, the Celtic’s coach and/or his teammates, and even him, complained to the refs and they responded in kind.

Hopefully, all will be more objetive in future games.

He’s right. Amazing that James is immune to technicals with his incessant crying.

@heals, Wth does league pass have to do with anything? You dont need league pass to know basketball. Especially considering these 2 teams are on national tv a lot. It doesn’t make any difference. I know Rondo is a BIG TIME whiner. I’ve seen it myself on numerous occasions.

It has to do with watching the WHOLE League, getting to watch teams plays at least 20+ games year to gain a perspective of the game that is much broader than seeing such and such team play 5-7 national games a year. It makes ALL the difference. You tried (albiet incorrectly) to argue that anyone who watches hoops knows the C’s are biggest complainers in the game. It’s not true, if you watched them as well as other teams play more you would know that or you’re just bias (not a bad thing, but just own up to it). I have no problems with opinions, but don’t try to put out a false observation as if it’s a fact (especially when it’s my team). Call out Rajon for the staredowns, talking back, dismissive ball flips, etc. to the refs, but don’t cast the whole team in the same light and don’t overlook the fact that this behavior is pervasive league wide, on a nightly basis. You root for your team and have opinions on other teams and players that are greatly influenced by their impact on that team. I love the C’s, but don’t feel the need to take out my frustration with them on their opponents or other players (except ZazaPachulia) to same degree. I love watching LBJ, Kobe, etc. cause I love hoops first, if the C’s are good that’s just icing on the cake…

its not as much that they cry to the refs a lot its more that they get every call to MIA’s favor and even just a single play after they complain

    Worst players:
    1. Wade

    3. Rondo
    4. Dwight
    5. Westbrook
    6. Blake
    7. LeBron
    8. Rose
    9. Perkins
    10. Pierce
    11. Bynum
    12. Paul
    13. Cousins
    14. Dirk
    15. Melo
Let me know if I missed somebody egregious.

Truer words were never spoken, I always see Lebron and Wade whine at the refs instead of getting back defensively. Anyone watching KD today see him not get a call, bark at the ref, then get a steal defensively and make up for it? That’s what real players do, instead of expecting to get bailed out with FTs every time down.

OK OK..we have established that EVERYONE whines/complains about calls and that certain superstars do so more than most and that certain stars get away with actually yelling at refs w/out getting T’d up. We know there are star players who flop like they’ve been shot even though they have enough talent that they shouldn’t have to do so. We know certain players have NEVER committed a foul. Most fans only complain/whine when it’s against their team or player. Some of us respect the game enough to admit when our player is a complainer (PP & RR).

  • BostonBaller

Can you imagine if a team devised a set of rules/plays to not only stop one of today’s stars but also to beat him down every time he touched the ball AND the refs allowed it to a certain degree? Yes, I’m talking about the Jordan rules. lol. There isn’t a player in the NBA today that would be able to play without being afraid because they are so used to getting away with everything. There wouldn’t be any flopping b/c they would actually get hit hard enough to fall. Detroit would have crushed Miami’s spirit by now and both Wade & LBJ would have fouled out b/c Detroit would have taken charge after charge on those erratic drives to the hoop. KG still has good D but nothing compared to Detroit D. PP might, I say might get more done against Detroit b/c he is not a high flyer and has those weird moves to the hoop. Imagine Dumars on Wade or RR / Rodman on LBJ or PP.
