Nicolas Batum Thinks Many Can Beat Team USA in Olympics (VIDEO)

The Blazer forward sounds off after France’s loss to Team USA.

During a wide-ranging interview with the Oregonian, Nicolas Batum (playing for France at the Olympics) seemed of the mind that several squads – such as Spain, Argentina and Brazil — could take down the mighty Team USA.

Apparently, only the leading scorer of the basketball teams is tested for drugs. Batum knows Tony Parker clinched the “cup duties” for these Olympics…

The irrelevant wanting to be relevant… Nothing more.

He says this AFTER they get beat by 27. Solid.

If you can get past the usual disregard of a player’s opinion based on his NBA achievements, what he is saying isn’t too far-fetched. Brazil played them close in exhibition and we have yet to see the best of Spain with both Gasols. I don’t think Argentina has much of a chance. And it’s not like Lebron and Co. have been as formidable as they were through group play in 08. I don’t expect them to lose but other teams see a weakeness that wasn’t there in 08.

    It’s true though..

“can” and “will” are 2 different things.

Basketball? Probably not. Every other event? Yes.

Exactly M Cho, those teams can but will they? There’s a difference.

The US team did not show anything to their opponents during the exhibition games. Brazil would get blown out if they were to play again now.

France just got their ass kicked, lol.

Anyways, yes i agree with him. I think some teams could beat team USA, like Spain.

I don’t like this dude. He is a glue guy. Which is great. Glue guys are needed and important. But dude acts like he is a star. He just has prima donna written all over him.

  • EJ

Heck, even a team of chimps could beat them, who knows.

To borrow a quote from the great Johan Cryuff,”Those teams can’t beat Team USA but Team USA could lose to them.” In other words, if we play the way we are supposed to, no problem. But if we mess around, we could be in for a surprise….

Bron and melo will not let that team lose. They will go undefeated, no doubt.

  • Mariano

The US is pretty weak down low though

Lebrons extra work in the post will be a huge factor, he doesnt need to completely dominate but if he can draw some double teams with his passing ability and weapons the team has

Let’s put it this way, no olympic team except Spain and Argentina has decent nba veterans expect for the two mentioned and whom happened be all relevant and important pieces! Therefore for you to defy the obvious choice and make a ridicoulous statement against a team full of nba elites is just plain foolishness. Then again it could be for media which is still relevant to speak of.
