Nicolas Batum Punches Juan Carlos Navarro in the Nuts (VIDEO)

The French guard decided he was tired of Spain’s flopping.

Nicolas Batum believed Spain was flopping all game, so he decided to punch Juan Carlos Navarro in the groin to “give him a good reason to flop.” Uh, sure. Reasonable enough. Watch the French guard bring the pain in the video above.

LMAO at “give him a good reason to flop” that’s awesome

  • http://none JIM PUGH

What a classless act. So when a MAN is pissed at another man, his first inclination is to TOUCH HIS NUTS!

  • http://slamonline.com The Philosopher

Then he was like, “You want something?” to the other player on Team Spain.
    Ol’ competition.

  • Ev

Awesome! Just became a die hard fan!

u became a fan of someone who takes a cheap shot at someone’s private parts? next step: re-evaluate life

  • Lisa

a)Spain tanked his game versus Brazil. (As France did in the last Eurobasket).
b)Navarro is one of the biggest floppers of ALL time. Something irritating. Plus his trash talk
c)Spain has won 10 of the last 11 games to France. The frustration is evident. The best generation of French players have seen how the best generation of Spanish players blocked his moment again and again.
d)France huge collapse in the last quarter. Just 4 points in 9 minutes 55 seconds. This was his moment of change history against and awful Spain.

LOL at batum for nutshot and giving navarro a good reason to flop. heck no wonder trailblazers want him bad.

  • rudohs

this should be mandatory punishment for ridiculous flopping in NBA.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

Good. I’m tired of europeans and all the flopping they do. When you can not matchup physically, the next option is to flop and flail like a fish out of water.

Batum must be the only french in history to go down fighting.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

LOL @ Calderon rushing at Batum and then looking the other way when Batum calls his bluff.

  • http://cnbc.com JTaylor21

One could make a case that he made a play on the ball.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

    @ JTaylor, I think he made a play on both balls . . .

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I just hope Batum doesn’t end his own career when he goes back to the NBA and continues his own excessive flopping.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Nick the Quick with another gem. Special team option A. Reggie Evans.
Hate the flopping, but daaaayuuum Batum. I don’t like him so this isn’t awesome to me. Although I see the side who likes seeing flopping punished for once. I would love Scola to get one of those from someone. K-Love? Ehh?

Anyone who applauds this is a scary individual. That was a malicious act, plain and simple. He was trying to HURT him; the motivation doesn’t matter. Remember everybody calling for MWP’s head after the Harden shot? This is the same thing: a premeditated strike at full strength to a vulnerable body part by someone bigger.

  • A.

Leandro Barbosa just made the play of the Olympics. Crossover with the defender spinning around then falling, then the 3 pointer to punctuate the play.

that should be an automatic ejection. what`s with the horrible oversees officiating. somewhere stern is like: I told you my boys are the best

I’m against flopping like the everyone else, but as a man, how can you condone this type of behavior? He went after the mans nuts wtf???

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

that boy Calderon didn’t want none of that action.
“What you sprinting over here for boy?”

  • elmaar

i can bet navarro crossed the line whether he said something abusive or did something similar to batum previously
    the french won’t cheapen themselves

  • Myke-bigga

If that was ron artest it’d be all over espn and everybody would be talking about how crazy he is. But since its batum we can just laugh it off and congratulate him smh

  • Mas

Hey Nico! How did that offer sheet with the T-Wolves? Stay in Portland and win nothing! jajaja.

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

Allen you sound kind of proud of a dude socking another dude in the nuts. I know it’s dumb, flopping, white, euro dudes, but it’s just a stupid act like a MWP bow. Nothing to be proud of here.

  • Mas.2

Batum will enjoy watching how Spain continues while he whacks his own junk at home. jajaja.

  • pposse

never ever seen a grown man take a shot like that at another grown mans nuts. I liked Batum when he put up the two fingers after he dunked on Pau, but this takes away all your cool points. I know no foreigners are getting mad about flopping anyways, thats nonsense!

  • big red

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Nah, punching dudes in the nuts is not kosher at all. I don’t understand why that’s the go-to move instead of just punching them in the face to be honest.
But, it was still funny that Calderon made that big production of running up on Batum and Batum let him know that he could get a fresh two-piece if he was really interested.

  • vtrobot

ha ha spit hot and taylor.

  • Thomas

@lisa yes, a b c & d are all true… but that doesn’t excuse the man for trying to hurt his opponent. This is a sporting match. If you can’t take a little frustration, you have no business playing.

  • Mike

    That was cheap. Respect lost

the best part was calderon corralling the ball before he walked up to Batum. “wait i can’t let this ball go out of bounds”

  • LA Huey

    Gotta co-sign Allenp.
Also, looks like JTaylor might’ve been right when it came to me questioning why Spain didn’t have Serge’s back earlier against the Argentines. They sure sprinted like hell to come to Calderon’s aid.

  • http://thahiphopcorner.com Kevin

I honestly dont know why Jose Calderon was running up like he wanted any part of any type of physical altercation.

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

I don’t think Batum gives a damn about anyone’s respect unless they live in France. If he did, he wouldn’t have done this. So, boohoo – what he did was completely wrong. But it was also not the first time someone has done that during these Olympics. Except the Olympic Committee has blocked the videos rights on Youtube to the other incident…

  • http://slamonline.com LakeShow

I too co-sign AP’s more well put comment.

  • fruizm

    This was amazing!

  • http://slamonline.com Allenp

Actually it was just more verbose. The first comment was concise and more entertaining in my opinion.

  • LA Huey

Also, I’m surprised that cats don’t sock each other in the nuts more often considering you don’t even get tossed from the game. In the NBA, you get a T for just mean-mugging the ref.

56 – 42 for the US at the half. Bron having a great all around game with 7 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Leading scorer in the game is Williams with 13 points. Australia is scrapping and not giving up, but don’t have as many weapons all over the court as the US. Mills can only do so much.

Kobe just led a 3-on-2 break and got called for a charge. LOL. Classic Bean.

maybe it was just a very badly missed attempt at giving Juan Carlos a dead leg.

  • http://www.newyorkshockexchange.com Shock Exchange

LA Huey, it’s Horry Jr’s teammates own fault. If they really wanted a pass they would have painted a picture of a basket on their chest. They need to be more creative than just waving their hands for the ball.

  • justin05

Batum has always been soft but now this p*ssy cheap shot?? He even hits like a girl. Like many of you have said already, lost respect..just like when delonte west stuck his ear in hayward’s ear last season. Inexcusable, grow up “professionals”

    Glorious day of hoops.

Anybody got a copy of the game, AUS versus USA? Just saw it. USA was showing off! Close-ish in the third, a blow out by the fourth.

  • LA Huey

Gotta copy on my Betamax if you want to e-mail me your mailing address.

Kobe just showed the world you shouldnt write him off. Black Mamba will strike with aggressive force and no regard for humanity. Someone bring back the previous thread of the Kobe Bashing, When it matters most….the strong survive

  • http://www.slamonline.com house

it kinda looked, (momentarily) that he was attemping to dislodge the ball legitimately but then thought “screw it I can hit three balls with one fist instead”. Nasty.

  • Heals

Floppers have been gaining too much ground in the game of hoops; Batum is just trying to keep them at bay one sac at a time…

  • ChipS

I don’t condone this at ALL. But Calderon’s face was hilarious. Dude looked like he feared for his life when Batum had him and was so relieved when he let him go lol.

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

La huey, always willing to lend a helping hand. What a stand up guy. Proud of you!

  • Corky

I’m sick of all this complaining about flopping. I personally don’t like it but the solution is for the refs to watch the game and ignore it. Also, they should review game film and keep a mental note of the known floppers and start looking at all of their flailing about with a skeptical eye.

The NBA should track, and post the video of, all the attempts to get phantom calls. No need for fines or technical fouls.

  • APS

    Like a Chris Paul move

  • MaltonChuck

What a f’ing idiot. I would have kicked batum in the face if i was navarro (after restoring the feeling in my nuts)

  • http://Slamonline.com Black Mamba

Anybody else notice that all french national teams can’t lose without trying to hurt the opponents. SLAM dosen’t have it up but Ronny Turiaf thought an intentional foul equalled a tackle. The Spanish player had to be taken out of the game. Then there was Zidanes headbutt on Marco mattarazzi in the 2006 world cup.

  • Lightning 999

I love what Nicolas Batum did. I hate flopping and the Spanish team has earned through time a reputation of a sick bunch of whiners.

  • http://www.nba.com VanCityBBall

how the hell did he bend his hand that far back!?!!!?

  • lisa

Lol! He really had to do that? I bet no one will be flopping when they play against Batum. Still, it’s wrong.

    Classy Batum as always.

Batum could represent the french in pingpong

  • Mike From Spain

I was watching the game, Spain sucked and was going to lose. Then Spain shut down France in the fourth quarter (or they were shooting badly, who knows), and finally Spain was like 7 points ahead with about 1:30 left. First Turiaff hit Rudy Fernandez in a way that made him land hard. Now, Rudy has a history of back surgeries courtesy of Portland’s medical staff. So that sent Rudy out of the game, with lots of pain. At this point I was not going any longer like ‘pity about that France, better luck next time’. I was full on ‘suck it , frogs’. Then this agression (that is what it is) happened. I have now decided that the French basketball team is a bunch of sore losers who don’t deserve my respect. I might change my mind though, perhaps they are good kids who are just too frustrated by Spain routinely handing them their ass in a platter. Peace.

  • flash

TP didnt want any part of it. Look at him doing nothing. Stay classy nic

  • http://www.nba.com/knicks danpowers

there is nothing wrong about hard play. when turiaf fouls smbdy hard who drives to the rim then this is exactly what i want to see from time to time and really miss about pro basketball since the nba changed a physical game into a softer version of showcasing athletic abilities (oh please dont touch each other). but flopping has to be punished. you cant hit a flopper hard enough. unfortunately batum didnt hit him properly or shouldve gone for his face or throat whatever. leave this flopping p***y stuff at soccer where it belongs

  • Otis

That was a b*tch move, plain and simple.

  • http://www.nba.com/knicks danpowers

    yes, by navarro :D

  • RunNGun

    Wrong ball, Nic.

  • nft

Comment by Lakeshow at 5:06 is the slam message board at its repugnant best.

  • bolletrie

@MikefromSpain Rudy fernandez flopped and hurt himself by falling to the ground. The amount of contact with Turiaf did not warrant him getting that high of the ground and falling to the ground like that. If he hurt himself in the process that’s just what he deserves.

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

I get the frustration, i truly do. France has been OWNED by Spain for a very long time. And they got outclassed at the last Eurobasket tournament final by them yet again, plus they already faced one another in the pre-olympic “friendlies”.
Horrible decision by Batum there, no justification possible. Turiaf’s was already quite bad, but one play later Batum decides to punch La Bomba in the groin area? Sorest of sore loser moves.

  • http://www.fiba.com Darksaber

@nft: really? i always find the Jtaylor guy’s barely contained hate/fear of anyone not American and the stereotypical way he comments about other countries quite aggravating myself.

  • miagus23

I understand the frustration towards flopping but this went way too far. I wouldnt mind if batum would’ve given him a little shove or something but this hit was wayyyy too rough and physical. He should receive a fine for that hit. Way too dirty. Something like a Metta World Peace elbow on harden or bynum on barea…

  • The Mauve Avenger

Good Lord even MWP doesn’t go for the balls

  • ghost

slam should bring back he sure shot contest with this!

look how batum hit navarro’s nuts it’s like he is saving basketball from the future generation of navarro floppers! its like navarro wont be having kids anymore LOL

  • LA Huey

bolletrien got it right about Fernandez

  • Riggs

@Black Mamba: that was rudy fernandez, and he actually flopped (look at the replay) so badly, that he hurt himself like the idiot he is.

  • Mike From Spain

Tony Parker also flopped hard and refused to give his hand to Sergio Llull in a sequence of the game, and no one is calling that out. By the looks of it, Spain has been world champion, Olympic silver medalist and two time European Champions with this core by the sole virtue of flopping. Gimme a break, go watch rugby if you like tackles.

  • http://www.nba.com/knicks danpowers

@Mike: nobody says that spanish players are bad players. it just seems like the number of flops increased while the interest of nba players on soccer/football increased. especially football bound countrymen like scola, ginobili, fernandez, galinari, etc… brought this flopping to the main stage where even us american players start to implement this ugly stuff into the game of basketball. it cannot be punished hard enough. but i want to see a mans game and not something with a back-stabbing philosophy like soccer/football. it is a physical game and i want to see it like this. i dont want this game to soften because i think the fair toughness makes it a honorable sport. in other words, they should leave this p***y stuff at soccer/football. floppers should be suspended and fined for every flop untill nobody dares to flop again.

  • http://www.slamonline.com Si

That should be an automatic ejaculation.

  • Lloyd

Am I the only one who thinks he wasn’t trying to go for his nuts?

  • Batum

For those who saw the whole game, you have to agree the referees let the Spanish players, coach and bench do whatever they wanted, as usual. Theatrical plays are common among this players, specially with the “veterans”, who are keen on the art of acting.

Now, I would like to remind you of the Eurobasket Final when Rudy Fernandez smashed Tony Parker on the floor during a penetration to the basket, almost injurying him for life. It can’t even be compared to Batum’s act, to which I agree was also pure unsporsmanship.

    Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fd0L3DynejQ

I would just like to say: OPEN YOUR EYES TOMORROW RUSSIA and after that USA, otherwise you will fall against one of the best teams in the world which has also the best floppers.

    Here’s a present for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0rx9aUUWAM

  • Jeff

It’s funny, Navarro wasn’t even flopping throughout any point of the game. The main offender was rudy fernandez, funny because that’s batum’s former teammate in portland. either way it was a pretty classless move, france had every chance to put that game away, cant go around saying they tanked against brazil but then have your team absolutely choke in the last 6 minutes.
