Metta World Peace Kisses a Fan’s Hand During Game (VIDEO)
A mid-game love connection.
The idea of Metta World Peace going into the stands probably scares some folks, given what took place in Detroit a few years back, but this time around MWP’s foray into the crowd was actually pretty hilarious. Watch the Lakers defensive stopper kiss the hand of an adoring fan in the video above, and here’s a recap of what took place, via the Orange County Register: “Metta World Peace went into the stands Saturday night at Staples Center with hilarious results. World Peace, who won the NBA’s 2010-11 J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award and changed his name a year ago, was displaying his regained agility with a nifty block as Utah guard Gordon Hayward drove toward the basket. Then World Peace displayed his usual wacky sense of humor. After his momentum carried him under the basket and out of bounds, World Peace fetched the ball — and then took the hand of a nearby female fan and kissed it. Staples roared at the moment — which can be seen in a replay clip from the Time Warner Cable SportsNet telecast — with Lakers teammate Dwight Howard particularly entertained while on the Lakers’ bench at the other end of the court. World Peace put a lovely bow on it after the game when asked about the moment. He explained his sudden gesture by saying: ‘I saw it in her eyes.’”
