    If you didn’t like it after watching the first one or two, why keep watching it and complaining about it? Rose’s fans love it. That’s the target audience.

    this is all over the media. i mean ok, the kids among his fans have to love it but to me thats just some disgusting mtv type of phony stuff. id rather have an interesting article here its preseason so there is enough real stuff to write about.

    DRose coming back from injury isn’t “real stuff”? There is a lot of interest in the basketball world when a top 5 player who is just 24 yrs old is coming back from major surgery. The documentary series gets 500,000 plus views. Plenty of comments from Rose fans. It’s not just kids. It’s nowhere near anything MTV airs. SLAM would be irresponsible to not put up this video. Even if he wasn’t signed to a huge deal with them, Adidas would be out of their minds to not keep up with Rose even though he’s not playing because there are a lot of people who are interested in following his progress. You would have a better argument if it was the regular season and there were games happening that mattered. But it’s the preseason. Nothing’s happening until 2 weeks from now when the games matter. And even then, people will still want to follow Rose as they watch the Bulls play without him.

    one of these adidas clips is understandable to me saying “dont stop buying our rose products, the kid is going to be back” but making a series out of it like some mtv trash? come on man! many players bounced back from severe injuries without a circus like that. some coverage about it is ok but this stuff is taking it too far. smh

    you call it a documentary? come on. thats jus advertising from adidas for not letting the value of their product slide because they dont want to lose money on their investment. we didnt see that b4 in that form about anybody else who bounced back. injury updates and interviews from time to time are enough. but having this crap all around? come on

    When’s the last time a guy like D-Rose had a serious injury like this? Imagine if LeBron had torn his ACL during his 4th year in Cleveland while trying to carry his hometown’s franchise (Akron is close enough to Cleveland) by himself much like Rose is trying to do now. Do you seriously believe that Nike would forget about him and not follow his progress back to being the player he once was? Injury updates and interviews are enough for the casual fan, but for Bulls fans or Rose fans, they need more. Adidas knew this and that’s why they had this idea. It was/is a great idea evidenced by the views it gets and the love Rose gets from fans on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Those who dislike it appear to be highly outnumbered by those who love it.

    When is the last time a guy won an MVP and then tore his ACL or had another major injury the next season? LeBron, Kobe, Dirk, Duncan, KG, Jordan, none of them had major injuries. This is new. So for you to say that many players bounced back from severe injuries without a “circus”, not too many players with MVP awards before they reach their prime have had an injury like this.

    do you really think this would be any different if he hadnt won an mvp (james and howard got robbed that year anyway, period! ;) ) award? its also tough to compare to others as the media coverage wasnt broad as it is today when robinson, jordan or shaq went down. but its kind of comparable when you take arenas’ example. he messed his come back up tho but his blogs and the news about it were less pushy and of more substance imo.
    i think this whole thing is just a matter of taste weather you see it as news coverage or as a circus.

    what do these clips ecactly tell you? his injury is severe, he wants to come back real bad and does everything he can to recover. the first clip already expressed that. his first interview about it said that. these clips differ in absolutely nothing from each other (watched the first two and this one, maybe 3 and 4 are any different lol) and they tell you nothing new. its just about keeping him present and pushing their (adidas) product.

    The reason he’s now a top 5 player and has so many fans is mainly because of that MVP season. If he did not have that great season, he wouldn’t warrant the kind of attention he gets. Robinson, Jordan and Shaq didn’t have a major injury/surgery like Rose had so how the media coverage was then compared to now is irrelevant here. Gilbert Arenas wasn’t Derrick Rose. He was a great scorer at one point, but he wasn’t the player Rose is, never had the kind of team that Rose had and he definitely didn’t have the fanbase that Rose has. These Rose videos aren’t pushy at all. Pushy would mean that they are forcing someone to watch. People have the choice to either watch or not. It’s not news coverage. It’s not trying to be news coverage. It’s presenting Rose’s fans with an opportunity to see their favorite player in a behind the scenes way that they have never seen him in before. If it was an ESPN show, then you could maybe call it a circus. It’s just YouTube.

    sorry but blah blah. compara arena’s stats and the thrilling series he played with the wizards and the hibashi hype to rose. dont see much of a difference. rose hat the better team n coach but both were equally good and equally pushed by the media. sure people love him because he played great and he earned his adidas contract. robinson’s injury was as severe as rose’s at least he missed a whole year, thats how the spurs got duncan. shaq didnt have an injury THAT hard but was even more the centre of public attraction and had some tough injuries as well. if you like that stuff then go ahead and be happy about it, to me it stays just some phony stuff thats been taken a bit too far to an extent that it goes on my neves.

    before the gun incident he returned too early from his knee injury which was why he got hurt again. back then there was also a lot of media coverage about it, but not with this kind of clips for kids.

    now i am. in the beginning there were big advertisings here on slam that sometimes rolled over articles and that sh* popped up anytime i came online here. thats why i got p**d off by it. im also free to post my oppinion in here which i did. this convo just slowly starts to become a bit too long ^^

    well, there was facebook already as far as i remember. he also wrote some online blog back then which was very entertaining and interesting. well, twitter is not for me. been there for a couple of months and even if id check on there now id still have to wait for just one reasonable “tweet”-just masses of cryptic stuff. i enjoy reading twitter-”highlights” in here from time to time tho.
    to put a long story short, you guys enjoy it, i dont. we shouldnt make too much of a long debate out of it.

    Jordan broke his foot early in his career, other than that I agree with your sentiment. Except for the excessive D.Rose advertisements on each page, I count 5 on this page alone 3 on the right sidebar, in the background and then the header, I don’t have a problem with these articles.
