Thomas Robinson With Putback Dunk Over Dwight Howard (VIDEO)

TRob gets up.

Rookie big man Thomas Robinson and his vicious finish rudely welcomed Dwight Howard back to NBA basketball (and the vet acknowledged the big throwdown on Twitter.) Watch your head, Dwight!

  • K_HOLIDAY

“Don’t worry Dwight… Blake Griffin does that to me all the time” – Pau Gasol

  • Max

    Beast!!

  • shutup

Wait for it…… Lakernation will be out later today saying that it was an over the back and an offensive foul. Wonder what Dwight said to Kobe after the dunk, on the way back up the court. LOL, I have a feeling it’s going to be a long year for all those Laker’s fans, that thought Dwight was the second coming of Jesus.

  • ByAnyMeansNecessary

I wish Robinson had gotten drafted by a team with a plan for the future. The Kings have talent, but really no direction.

Lol ahhh man, Dwight really gave Robinson a Shoutout for dunking on him lol

  • ByAnyMeansNecessary

He doesn’t look like a rookie. At all.

  • Lakers Fan

Trade Howard win game or im taking my talents to south beach again!

  • Caboose

I love how Dwight started complaining the second after it happened. Can’t wait to see the big fella and Kobe clash all year long.

  • SuperAr82

Nice!!!! I’m about to add Robinson to my espnFantasyteam and release Taj Gibson. Is this a smart move or should I cancel the deal and stick with Taj?

  • Lakers Fan

Trade Howard and Nash or im taking my talents to south speach.

  • Lakers Fan

    Beach (not speach)

  • shutup

Glad someone else saw that, thought I was the only one. Is the honeymoon over already?

  • spit hot fiyah

    nasty

  • The Mauve Avenger

I’m glad Dwight is under the microscope now. People will realize Dwight’s little mistakes happen more often than not. He has all the potential and the drive in the world but he still lacks a certain quality. Similar to JaVale McGee.

  • R32

    Lakers bench reaction lmao

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

ehh, you never know what he said. he coulda been like “whoops, oh well, wait till we see this kid in a month, ima dunk on him like 9 times”

  • Caboose

You give Dwight too much credit. Dude whines as much as Wade.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i’m not giving him any credit, there is just no reason to think he was whining at Kobe. Kobe was guarding James Johnson on that play, Dwight was guarding Robinson. It was Dwight’s job to box him out, there is nothing to whine about at Kobe.

  • shutup

Just because there is no logical reason to whine doesn’t mean Dwight didn’t do it. His body language was an indicator though, of what he said. IMO he thought Kobe should have boxed out considering they were both in the lane and Dwight was going for the ball, I mean thats what someone who is playing team first ball should do, that coupled with the fact that he just got dunked on and was probably a lil embarrassed; with his track record, wouldn’t put it past him to try to blame someone else, but I could have a negative bias towards Dwight because I really don’t care for him.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

idk why my comment just got deleted by Disqus. So instead of retyping all of it, i’m going to type this sentence about how i don’t want to type all of it and then write a summary of what i said…..
    .
You saw, 2 seconds and came up with that “Dwight’s whining at Kobe scenario” – Dwight very well could have said, “you’ve dunked on me harder than that” – “ah damn, i thought that was you” – pretty much anything that had to do with Kobe. — All you saw was some disappointed body language and a hand gesture towards Kobe, you really have no idea why or what he said. — And there is no “track record” of him whining at teammates during games, especially preseason games. Stop taking what you watch and hear about in press conferences and on ESPN and translating that to on court behavior, they aren’t related.

  • bike

I believe this guy will give Davis a run for the money for ROY. NBA body, NBA strength, and NBA athletic ability.

  • shutup

So disappointed body language (your words) equates to joking around with someone? Not so much, that would be an illogical scenario, but if you read my other post on this very article I actually admitted to not knowing what was said, but expressed curiosity because the exchange of words seemed “off”. So why is a scenario where he is whining so out of this world? Let me state I never said he was whining, only stated that to assume he didn’t do it (whine), because it was his man is an illogical statement, who are you to state what another persons emotional response should be, considering he was just publicly embarrassed in his first game back from injury and also his first game wearing a Lakers jersey, by a rookie, no less.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

you have never tripped and joked about it, while being embarrassed? really? Logically, that type of response is a pretty likely. Especially considering it’s a meaningless preseason game, it had nothing to do with Kobe at all, and uh, it’s Dwight. He’s not really the, take things too seriously and lash out at teammates type. Think about who you are talking about. Dwight has never had issues with teammates, has never been criticized for blaming his teammates for stuff he does wrong. Why is now the time to start assuming? Because you don’t like him? There is really, no reason to ask questions like “Is the honeymoon over already?” Until i see an actual reason to doubt Dwight as a teammate and player, i am going to operate under a more logical scenario than him lashing out at Kobe Bryant over something that had nothing to do with him.

  • fruizm

I watched this replay like at 2 am last night. I woke up and completely forgot about it!

  • Conor

    Elbow-first, yeah.

  • Conor

Gibson. The Bulls are likely going to use their Amnesty Clause on Boozer at some point, so he will get even more burn.

  • Conor

That’s what happens when you just watch the ball. Three or four Lakers starters just enjoying its trajectory. Oh well, it’s only preseason.

  • Jay

Have the Lakers won a game in the preseason?

  • Live Studio Audience

LMAO !! …look at the reaction coming from the lakers bench…

  • K_HOLIDAY

    Nope

  • K_HOLIDAY

Call me crazy, but I dont think Davis is a lock for ROY. Some players give you that feel and I just dont get it from him. Wouldnt be surprised if a guy like Damian Lillard has a great season and takes that ROY award!

  • AQWORD

Looks like he could have done it really bad style but displayed utmost respect.

  • Caboose

For the record, I’ve had court side seats to see Dwight 4 times now, and he whines to his teammates every game.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

he whines to them, about them?

  • Caboose

Depends on the situation. Regarding this one, my guess is that Kobe said something to Dwight, and Dwight defended himself by whining. Which I have heard him do to Jameer and Stan.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

maybe i just don’t understand what you meant by whining. if you mean Dwight said something like “well i didn’t try” or “woulda happened to you to” then, ok, he could have whined. i was under the impression you meant he whined at Kobe, like it was Kobe’s fault that happened.

  • Caboose

Sorry, whining: complaining about anything in an attempt to either convey frustration or displace blame. Fair?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

yeah definitely, that’s my bad, i totally misunderstood.
    .
    anyway, i have a fantasy league if y’all (@disqus_oxoGJMLagc:disqus – @disqus_hxPumCveGM:disqus ) are interested http://y.ahoo.it/LLK3Bnt9

  • Caboose

    I’m in. Any entry fee?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i would love to, but people always dick around about it and end up not paying, or pull outta the league last minute. So we just goin bragging rights, ima just rub it in when i smash everybody

  • Caboose

Fair enough. Who’s in the league so far? SLAM commenters? I just signed up. I’m psyched for bragging rights.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Dope! Not enough SLAMmers have expressed interest. Only T-Ray has signed up from here so far. Gotta couple of my boys signing up and at least one of basketball twitter so far. If more SLAM people wanna get down I can create a SLAM only league like I did a couple years ago
    .

  • Caboose

I could try to advertise this league around here if that’s cool. I’m sure some of the regulars (BAMN, LakeShow, JT) might be up for it.

  • Datkid

I’m on the fence about T-Robb.. excellent athleticism but he’s kind of undersized and lacks moves. What’s his ceiling?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Fine with me, First come first serve as long as they know the game and aren’t going to be cannon fodder

  • Datkid

I want in. is that cool?

  • Caboose

Maybe we shouldn’t invite LakeShow then…haha

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    Of course bruh

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

LOL, Lake knows hoop, he just is emotional. Luckily, fantasy is all numbers

  • Caboose

Haha I know, he’s good with everything but Lakers. Funny isn’t it?

  • SuperAr82

Yeah I think I will decline the signing..

  • GC6

    Harrison Barnes will win ROY

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Fanatic: marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

man you are sensitive about the Lakers. It’s borderline sad.

  • bike

Agree 100 percent. Robinson, Kidd-Gilchrist, and Lillard could beat Davis out. Don’t get me wrong, Davis is good but big men often need a couple of years to really come out in the nba.

  • Anonymous

lol they acted like they’d just been hit or something, they didn’t see that coming

  • ANonymous

I’m just now knowing he’s a rookie, damn. Sacramento did great with this pick.

  • Anonymous

how about sullinger? think JS could win it.

  • DubsonTheIllest

For real? Maybe on Dwight but I saw nothing there. Don’t get so butthurt because a vet got slammed on by a rookie.

  • Chukaz

Whether kobe was in the lane or not, Dwight shoulda boxed out. It ain’t about team basketball, its about knowing your role. Bigs box out bigs. You can’t expect your guards to box out PF and C. Dwight shoulda boxed out.

  • Chukaz

IDK if anybody’s said this before, and if someone has, i apologize, but Kevin Durant’s not impressed. Kevin Durant doesn’t think that was a dunk either.

  • shutup

Appreciate it, just don’t have the time or energy to focus on it. Wouldn’t want to half-a$$ it.

  • AQWORD

    HA !
    It was the shockwave !

  • AQWORD

Maybe he was just takin it easy on his spine but at least D12 got his reality check. + That reminds me i wonder if Kobe mentions that dunk on Dwight from back in the day. You know the one he rode Dwight like a pony. Hard. Or maybe Dwight had it put into his contract that Kobe can’t bring it up.

  • majic

Welcome to the west coast Dwight. Boogie Cousins is coming for ya. Dont be hating now. You all know that all the haters like Colangelo are goona keep at Demarcus but hes ready

  • LakeShow

Completely agree. He’s going to produce… but at what rate. Lets see if he can develop a jumper and play the SF/PF like Gerald Wallace.

  • Datkid

word. He has a long way to go skill wise, but I’m thinking his ceiling is like gwallace to larry johnson. not bad, but not quite a franchise savior either.

  • http://www.facebook.com/BadBluue Czakó Balázs

This is the new, fully overhyped center of the mighty-Lakers (the team, that will cause a bigger dissapointment than the Heat in 2011 – that’s my prediction), who is ready to bring the pain – on the front cover of the new Slam Magazine. Congrats!

  • Comment_System

Sacramento is such a horrible team for him to be on.
