The Indiana Pacers’ season-opener ended on a bright note, with George Hill calmly dropping in a floater for the win over the Toronto Raptors.

what was up with that defense?
West was torching Bargnani down the stretch. The two of them finished with a combined 5 rebounds. Good stuff.
Offensive foul? Defensive foul? Or good no-call?
Tough to see this in person. We had that game damnit!
oooooo man, just saw the replay fully, that was an offensive foul… Hill clearly just pushed Lowry’s arms outta the way…
that was an offensive from what i saw , he just pushed lowry’s arms outta the way
I was taught how to hedge off a screen in ninth grade. I guess Andrea missed that lesson in Italy. smdh
Absolutely that was an offensive foul. How can you just throw your defenders arm out of the way and get away with it?
lol i thought the same
Refs usually don’t like to call fouls in the last few seconds of a game unless they are obvious. Reggie did it to MJ so why can’t Hill do it to Lowry lol
because it’s a defensive foul to push on an offensive player and reach into their body to poke the ball loose. both players fouled one another, and technically, Lowry fouled Hill first.
it was a good no call. Lowry actually fouled Hill first. If the rules are to be taken seriously.
How many game winners go down in Toronto a year?
I watched the replay multiple times and I think an argument can be made for each call. I was leaning towards a no-call, but that’s a lot of contact to not blow the whistle one way or another. At the end of the day, I’d rather more no-calls than more whistles, so I’m cool with the refs swallowing their whistles for the last play of the game.
the no call is the right thing to do. both guys fouled.
True. I’d rather a no-call than that stupid “double-foul” call that the refs were calling during last year’s playoffs.
Didn’t look like Lowry made any contact with the hand he was poking at the ball with. Hill was backing him down so maybe that’s the push you were referring to? But I think the only foul call you can make on Lowry is the off-hand on the back. But Hill’s is definitely the blatant and obvious call which resulted in the Raptors losing so pretty big no call…and on the final shot West had two hands on Bargs. If they’re allowing hand checking back, I’m all for it but if not, make the call.
Lowry made contact with his arm.
Kyle Lowry should have been called for the reach-in foul. You can’t really tell in this video but if you check the other videos you will see that Lowry kept reaching in and George Hill got tired of it and that is why he moved his arm out of the way like that and hit the game winner. So it was a no call for both teams.
Kyle got too close, and reached in a couple of times. I can see the no-call merit, but that no call after the tie up gave George Hill a wide open lane to the bucket – and that’s the BS part.
I think it should’ve been a reach in call on Lowry, which stops the clock with more time, and sends Hill to the line (bonus, I think).
As Goattree had mentioned earlier, Bargnani’s failure to hedge off of the screen (which is what big men are supposed to do to allow their teammates time to recover defensively) is what allowed Hill to walk into the lane uncontested for that floater. KG is STILL the best in the league at this IMHO.
