Rajon Rondo Says MVP Is ‘In The Picture’ (VIDEO)

After another 20-assist night, he’s absolutely right.

Rajon Rondo returned to the Celtics’ lineup last night and cashed in for 20 helpers against the Raptors. After the game, Jason Terry told reporters that his point guard should be in the MVP conversation. Rondo agreed.

MVP is in the picture,” Rondo said. “I would like to be one day, but we’ve just got to keep winning. Who wouldn’t [want to] be? That’s a dream.”

Celtics need a good center (Sullinger will be one, but he aint ready to be the main guy already) and they will be good

  • elmaar

I would not be surprised to see Bynum in Brooklyn or Boston next season

  • RedDragon10

Not with Lebron and KD still in the league. Or even CP3.

  • Redd

    That makes sense, not.

  • Redd

Season barely started, I realize he was asked this, but really? Rondo will never be an MVP, don’t see it.

  • RedDragon10 is smart

    I agree.

  • RedDragon10

    Seriously?

  • Dutch Rich

“Why would you like to be MVP one day”, she says?!

If I’m Brooklyn or Boston I’m gambling and going after him. I’ll make a hint – sign and trade

  • spit hot fiyah

the media just ask these deep questions these days

  • spit hot fiyah

would have to be a major trade, neither team has any cap space

  • spit hot fiyah

sullinger will never be a center, unless he wants to be the next chuck hayes

  • Redd

An injury prone center with an attitude? Yeah, no big market team will take that fall.

  • isiahone1

    Keep dreaming rondo

  • KipSmithers

    That would be huge.

I’m far far from a Rondo fan but come’on people were laughing when Derrick Rose said he was gonna be MVP the year before he won it. I remember that article and the comments on here. So it can happen.

  • elmaar

I’m not saying Drew’s been professional, but Mike Brown on the sidelines and Kobe Bryant playing his consistent “ignore game” would make my attitude go south as well.
Philly is an average team, Bynum knows that, he is a free agent and he wants to win.
If Bynum does not break down abnormaly, Nets(considering Brook is injury prone) and Celtics are looking for ways to get him. Both teams are trying to beat the small ball team in Miami.

  • BuenoWayno1

    nah

  • Junior Taylor

Unless LeBron turns into cavs Shawn Kemp overnight and KD turns into Darius Miles, I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

  • EP

Steve Nash won MVP in 05-06 while Kobe was averaging 35.4 per game. Contending for MVP in a league with big scorers like KD and LeBron doesn’t take Rondo out of the conversation one bit.

  • Redd

Bynum is NOT worth a big contract on any big market team. No big market team wants to gamble on a Bynum who can’t consistently play.

WIthout a doubt he is…man he could have the most assists per game since John Stockton…and if he keeps his fg% good i don’t see why not

  • justin05

Co-sign. Like Rondo said, they have to win..period. Who can you name in the league that is more “valuable” to their team other than Rondo? Lebron? Don ‘t even say Durant.

  • Dagger

Except the Lakers were mediocre at best that year. That’s the difference. The Thunder and Heat will almost certainly finish with better records than the Celtics, and Durant/Lebron will put up better numbers than Rondo. Barring injury, Lebron/Paul/Durant are locks to finish in the top 3 of the MVP race.

we dont want Odgen 2.0 in boston..

  • Michelle

Not when CP3 is playing like he has been so far this season. The clippers go where CP3 goes. Rondo is not even the best PG right now

  • CP3, Lebron, maybe even Melo

  • http://www.facebook.com/rainman1991 Saleem Rainman

u seem to forget when ur own Derrick Rose said he wanted to be MVP BEFORE the season started let alone early season, i see.

  • justin05

Yeah I realized I missed CP3 after I posted. Melo is more of a closer. I only see Lebron and Paul as the most valuable players over Rondo.

  • Bored

    Kyrie Irving?

  • 23

DRose only got it because he was the best player on the best team. ala DIRK

  • 23

LeBron doesn’t have 3 MVPs because he’s a BIGTIME scorer. He is one of the all around best players the nba has ever seen.

  • 23

Melo is valuable, but he doesn’t make a team automatically a title contender.

  • 23

Bynums attitude ain’t worth the risk. Ppl forget that he played alongside an elite PF and with a top 5 nba player in Kobe. So he wasn’t exactly teams biggest concern on scouting reports. We have yet to see what he could do being surrounded by average talent.

  • EP

You’re right about the Lakers’s record that year. Good point.

  • Redd

But Rose isn’t all talk, ever. He didn’t come out playing a great game & saying “I should be MVP”, he came out the Off Season & said why can’t I be MVP seeing as I play well.

    Not the same.

  • http://www.facebook.com/shooting.guard.319 Shooting Guard

    i very much agree

  • http://www.facebook.com/shooting.guard.319 Shooting Guard

it’s good to want to be mvp but it’s not something to chase

  • Bluee

urrrmmm, he said i would like to be one day, he never said i should be mvp. oh and last time i checked rondo isn’t all talk, he dropped 20 assits with a dodgy ankle.

  • Redd

He’the league continuously said he’s the best pg in the league which can be argued. D Rose has actually won mvp and never continuously mentioned it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/rainman1991 Saleem Rainman

Rose at that point in his career had done nothing close to what rondo has done (today.) So it was pretty much all talk…but he backed it up. So lets not knock Rondo, he isnt all talk, and maybe he can back it up. I dont expect him to, but all im sayin is Bulls fans sure didnt mind when Rose went out and prematurely did similar to what Rose is doing here, so lets not have any double standards here lol

  • manu

haha cp3…call me when the guy gets out of the 2nd round

rondo is the best pg in the game since rose is out

  • Redd

False, cause it’s the boy who cried wolf with Rondo, not Rose.

  • Rainman

    Dont get too hype youngin.

and yes, its the same person as above, lol

  • Redd

    Ok old man.
