Monta Ellis Says He’s Just as Good as Dwyane Wade (VIDEO)

“Only thing he has that I don’t have is more wins and two Championships.”

The Milwaukee Bucks beat the visiting Miami Heat last night, and Monta Ellis made the insane claim in the video clip above. Good times.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA funny guy

Wade also has a few inches on him

  • Kevin

    I’d agree. If Monta was 6’5 not 6’3 he’d be a top 3 SG

Maybe Wade has “championships” and “more wins” but Monta’s got the sexual harassment allegations!

  • MUBWAR

looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool yes you are if you don’t account for a lil thing known as Defense. elis can’t stay in front of anybody

  • Tim

I don’t see how this is at all surprising. Haven’t seen Monta play lately but everyone knows he’s always been a stud and world-class scorer, so why wouldn’t you expect him to think he is “in the same class” as the aging Wade and truly find it an outlandish claim? Perhaps it is in regards to his comments about playing both ends, i.e. defense, like Wade to which there is objection- and I haven’t watched Ellis enough to have a guage on his defensive performance throughout his career. And perhaps he has really gone downhill lately overall…

  • T-Money

i just love how monta doesn’t believe that ‘more wins and two championships’ has nothing to do with the difference in talent between the two.

  • The Philosopher

It is good for the soul to… dream out loud.

  • MickelRove

I swear some of these Frank Ocean cats started watching the NBA a month ago. This is beyond ludicrous. Every letter that has been typed in reference to this story is an insult to the sport of Basketball.

  • Zabbah

I fail to see how two inches makes that big of a difference, although my wife would disagree.

  • bill

Someone with money and fame has sexual harassment allegations?!

    How……typical.

  • Redd

No I was a big Ellis fan before the Bucks & I never saw him as good as Wade but he’s a notch below.

  • bill

Jud Bueschler has more rings than Wade. 3 with the Bulls.

He must be better than Wade by your definition of talent.

  • bill

He is the all-time NBA leader in “trillions” (logging playing time in a game but not getting anything for the stat sheet, resulting in a number followed by 12 zeroes), with 55.[1]

Monta better wear a cup when playing the Heat from now on because now Wade knows he’s got balls.

    lol

  • Wade is more athletic, plays better defense, stronger and better scorer (career 19,5 vs 25)

  • Dymez

Ha, ha… Chill. Monta is my guy and all, but more wins and 2 championships doesn’t classify under the “All he has on me” category. That’s a very big deal. If ‘Nique won 2 championships, people would have him in their top 10 all time greatest players, but right now he’s usually forgotten when people list top 25′s. And defensively Monta’s not on the same level as Wade. Monta is a good ball hawk, though.

  • airhaash

wade is more athletic? I don’t know about that one bro…especially at this point in wades career.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    That’s cold

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    Amen

  • Stephen A. Smith

Also forgot to mention that Wade is a NBA Finals MVP, 8x NBA All-Star, All-Star Game MVP, NBA Scoring champion, 2x NBA All-First Team, 3x NBA All-Second Team, 2x NBA All-Third Team, 3x All-Defensive Second team, and NBA All-rookie First Team.

Monta Ellis have it all? really? no wonder Mississippi ranks dead last in education.

lol monta knew i didn’t mean it

  • http://www.facebook.com/gustavo.rodriguez.96930 Gustavo Rodriguez

and a gold medal in the 2008 games

  • K_HOLIDAY

Funniest thing I’ve seen all day and I watched a Kevin Hart stand-up about 20 mins ago… Monta Ellis needs to cut it out!

  • Nigel Watson

As far as individual talent not counting wins and chammpionships i think Monta Ellis (Golden State) is better than D Wade. But not this Monta on the Bucks.

  • ByAnyMeansNecessary

He’s confident. But stars in this league are judged by Playoff success and championships. D-Wade’s run in 2006 was special. He’s still a top 10 player. He allowed LeBron to take over his team but dude would be in New York or Chicago if Wade wasn’t in Miami already. Monta is a great scorer. Nothing more. He’s a poor man’s Allen Iverson and Iverson’s heart and will got his team to a Finals appearance and within 3 wins of a title. Monta has been to the playoffs once and wasn’t even a starter on that team.

I don’t know how to take someone who refers to himself as a third person seriously.

  • MasterSplinter

    Nigel must be high

  • MasterSplinter

So since Golden State decided to get rid of a better Wade, you must think Stephen Curry is as good or better than Chris Paul

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

well and multiple all star appearances…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

lol okay how he ended it….”Monta Elli have it all….” that was gold

  • dalida

yeah im as good as d wade, except, i dont have his skills or accomplishments. pretty much what he s saying yes?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=509819249 Gaurav P.

But that’s an irrelevant comparison. Buchelor is clearly not the same talent class as Ellis or Wade, based on numbers alone. Having more championships (including a Finals MVP) means that Wade is in a completely different class than Ellis all together. There are very few GMs, if at all, that would give up Wade for Ellis at any point in their careers.

Heart and will, as well the Sixth Man of the Year (McKie), the Coach of the Year (Larry Brown), and the Defensive Player of the Year (Mutumbo). Oh, and a terribly weak Eastern Conference,

  • ByAnyMeansNecessary

The biggest reason for their success that season was Iverson. And those awards for McKie and Mutombo were great, but the gap between Iverson and the next best player was pretty wide. The offensive load that he had to carry was huge. Not one player in that starting lineup was capable of averaging 20 a game outside of AI. How strong or weak the conference is doesn’t mean too much. Teams still have to win games.

  • Mack

    Monta smokin that goooooood

  • lux

Wades a far more better defender

  • str8 from samoa

yall betta rocognize that monta ellis is da most underated player in da league. enough said

  • MUBWAR

    is this really S.A.S.

  • Towelie

    Very underrated player.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    lol hes gonna find you!

  • Max

Ofcourse you are Monta, ofcourse you are..

  • James

Gaurav is right the eastern conference was basically so weak surprising they gave them their one and and only L that post season

  • ByAnyMeansNecessary

Teams still have to win in order to get through the conference regardless of if it’s weak or strong. No one puts asterisks on wins based on how strong or weak the conference was/is. The team that won the Eastern Conference that season was led by a 5’10 165 pound guard carrying a team offensively basically by himself and playing with injuries that would make most players sit out many games. Reggie Miller and those Pacers weren’t pushovers. They had beaten the Sixers multiple times in the playoffs before that season. The Bucks weren’t lousy. The Raptors weren’t great but Vince Carter put on a show and had to be beaten. Iverson outplayed Reggie Miller, Vince Carter, and Ray Allen to get to the Finals. And he outplayed Kobe and Shaq in one game in the Finals.

  • bill

I know. That was tongue in cheek. I just hate the “He’s got more rings, therefore he’s better” argument.

  • bill

And he’s got this “far away” look in his eyes when he says it, too. Priceless!

  • blackthought

@ Junior Taylor : That was some comment – was platinum – priceless!!!

  • Mars

Dude it’s the NBA, everybody can score and dunk and all that, but only the lucky ones win championships. Don’t tell me it isn’t lucky because Dallas has one, Boston has one and OKC should of beat the Heat, but now Lebron has one. Oh wait, DWade has 2! Monta your way outta line. Not really.

  • Mars

    you’re*
