Joe Johnson Forces Overtime and Hits Game-Winner vs Milwaukee Bucks (VIDEO)

Who’s been more clutch than Johnson this season?

Joe Johnson added to his burgeoning list of big shots this season, nailing two huge ones last night to ensure a last-second Brooklyn Nets win against the visiting Milwaukee Bucks. Per the NY Times: “It was Johnson’s fourth game-winning shot of the season, following decisive baskets against Detroit, Washington and the Knicks. The Nets, who acquired Johnson from Atlanta last July, are getting used to the thrills. ‘I wouldn’t use the word easy,’ Coach P. J. Carlesimo said, ‘but yes, the end of the play is pretty good when it’s in Joe’s hand. … It’s what he’s been doing his entire career,’ Carlesimo said. The usually reserved Johnson roared as he jogged back up the court and was mobbed by his teammates on the bench while, a few feet away, an appreciative Jay-Z — the music mogul and Nets part-owner — applauded with a look of relief. ‘It’s an unbelievable feeling, man,’ said Johnson, who finished with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. ‘Regardless of the situation, whether it’s the regular season or the playoffs, it’s always a great feeling, just to see everybody kind of explode and the excitement in the building, is probably the best feeling.’ [...] ‘Joe’s in trouble,’ said Brook Lopez, ‘because every time he gets it now, I think it’s going to go in. He’s been incredible.’ No N.B.A. player has been more clutch than Johnson this season. According to the N.B.A.’s statistics tool at NBA.com/stats, Johnson has gone 9 for 10 from the field in the final minute of games when the margin is 3 points or fewer. He is 4 for 4 in the final 10 seconds when the margin is 3 points or fewer. ‘When I get the basketball, it’s instincts, it’s reactions,’ Johnson said. ‘It’s nothing that is planned. I totally read the man who’s guarding me, how he’s playing me, that’s basically it.’”

So sick with it. That last one against one of the better defenders.

Joe Johnson has made 9 out of 10 shots this season when down or behind in the last minute of a game. http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2013/02/20/joe-johnson-does-it-again/

jj is losing his “where did you go in the 4th joe moniker”

however he needs to show up big in the playoffs like everyone else or its irrelevant.

he even hit a fall away three after a whistle coming down to the end of that game. Dude is on another level with his clutch shot-making.

It’s nice to know we do have a stud. Brook damn near gave that game away. No idea why PJ didn’t ride with Blatche in OT. Should’ve have subbed him back in after the 2nd of the 4 Brook duds.

  • Anthony Dixon

    thought he did?

  • Dutch Rich

Well then I was cursing PJ the entire bonus for naught…….
