Kobe Bryant Blocks LeBron James Twice in NBA All-Star Game (VIDEO)

For Kobe Bryant, every game — no matter how meaningless it may seem to everyone else — means something. Late in the fourth quarter of a tight All-Star showdown, KB attached himself to LeBron James and delivered two big blocks that helped secure the Western Conference’s victory. Bryant, of course, let James hear all about it. From Lakers Nation: “Needless to say, Kobe was a little more excited about it than LeBron was. ‘Me? Trash talk? Never. I don’t do that. I’m a nice guy. But I didn’t want him to score on me. Damn it. I gave him two free throws down there. It was a great, great post move.’ James, who did manage to get fouled by Bryant and go to the line, seems to be on his way to another MVP award this season. But that just motivated Bryant more. ‘(I love) the challenge. Doing what everyone deems impossible.’ [...] When I asked James about the play where Bryant blocked him and what Kobe was saying to him on the court, he wasn’t too revealing. ‘A little bit of everything. We were just talking about the game and the moves we were making out there on the floor. It was all in good spirits.’”

this would have been such an easy “4th quarter joke” not too long ago

  • thesage

    Still is, spitty, still is

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Not really. No longer a joke given what LeBron did last year. Those who still try to make those jokes sound like idiots.

  • Happy

Kobe was going hard and Lebron didn’t look nearly as interested. This game sucked for the most part. The east made no effort to win at all. And there were mad empty seats in that dull ass arena.

OMG WOW kobe is clearly better than LeBron after seeing this!!!

  • i_ball

It would great if they played D like that on every possesion during the game:)

This isn’t a big deal but I’ll tell you what is….the NBA needs quality centers big-time. Not sure if Dwight Howard will ever be the same again and even if he does come back then we still need more big men.

I noticed that’s what was missing from last night’s game. The NBA has great wing guys and perimeter geniuses but a lack of consistently dominant centers will eventually take its toll on this league.

    Overreact much?

you are new to sarcasm too? i’m just figuring it out as well, what’a crazy thing this saying something you don’t actually mean stuff is. we’ll catch up to all these comedic geniuses soon i’m sure.

lol Kobe playing like it’s the 4th quarter of game 7 of the finals.

  • Vandellish

Touche…but hey it’s Monday gimme a break. haha

  • ThatManSam

Hope the NBA never goes back to Houston for All-Star Weekend

  • analfissures

    Not understand sarcasm much?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

lol, i couldn’t pass up that opportunity.

  • robb

It was fun but Lebron’s going to the finals, and Kobe isn’t, that’s what matters to most Lakers fans like me and it certainly matters to Kobe, but it was fun.

  • Slick Ric

Lol at people trying to be dismissive by saying Lebron wasn’t interested… When has Lebron not been Interested in a all star game? This isn’t D. Rose, give Kobe his credit.

Parties over bro he is hip now lol

  • dannyb

Kobe should be really excited. I feel the same way when I block one of the young guys at the gym. Us old guys gotta take pleasure in small victories.

  • robb

oh he was interested. The world was watching and don’t forget about MJ picking Kobe. Lebron is a big time competitor, of course he was interested and I’m sure he hated it when he got blocked twice, but in june all this won’t matter a damn thing

  • Slick Ric

    True

  • Dutch Rich

Lebron looked straight up hung over. Trippin over his own boots. He threw the game for the East.

  • Kadavour

RED HERRING RED HERRING! Funny how the Lakers playoff prospects are directly related to this one-on-one matchup. Give props where due, don’t be d!ck-rider or senseless hater. LeBron got shut down in the 4th, but he’s still the most dominant player in the league on his way to another MVP and probably another chip.

There is a pretty big difference between interest and effort. I mean, you guys have watched basketball for the last 4 months right? If you have then that difference is pretty clear. Hopefully.

  • The Seed

Kobe got Bron again and all he can do is smile. LOL

  • Luke

You do realize that this was an all star game that he wasn’t even trying to win right? I’m sure Lebron is fine with the fact that he’s probably going to earn another ring this June, while Kobe won’t even make the playoffs.

  • Caboose

Wanna call Charles Benedict Davenport and get right on that? (sarcasm aside, I agree)

  • SONOFZOGS

i DONT KNOW WHAT ANY OF US
WOULD DO WITHOUT YOUR BRILLIANT INSIGHT.

You forgot capslock on the i. the only letter you were supposed to capitalize. you are disrespecting yourself.

  • Mike From Spain

blocking someone in the All Star game is a bit like sucker-punching someone… does not really count as winning a fight. I mean, Lebron does not really expect any D
