Metta World Peace Suspended for Sneaky Punch on Brandon Knight (VIDEO)

On Sunday in Detroit, during a scuffle, Metta World Peace sneaked in a quick, upper cut punch on Pistons guard Brandon Knight (after grabbing his neck.) The NBA suspended the Los Angeles Lakers forward for his actions. Per the team website: “The incident occurred with 1:43 remaining in the 2nd period, of the Lakers’ 98-97 win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, Feb. 3 at The Palace of Auburn Hills. World Peace will serve his suspension tonight when the Lakers visit the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center.”

Any fools out there still think Wade is the dirtiest player in the league? What else does World Peace have to do?

  • http://nasteedunx.wordpress.com/ Nasteedunx

Maybe he should aim for a name with less potential for willful hypocrisy… like, “Namaste Please Recycle”?

  • Max

    LMAO this dude.
And could you imagine Maxiell and MWP in a fight?

  • Heat will repeat (reheat?)

Metta’s definitely one of, if not THE dirtiest, but Wade’s a b*tch….dirty AND he complains when anything comes close to him

  • AQWORD

I think he reps Americas way of keeping World Peace ideally.

  • speedy

What’s really stupid is, that he is going at a much smaller dude and afterwards he complains about being ‘hit’.
A typical Ron Artest move. From time to time his brain just completely shuts down and the evil side takes over.

    anxiety disorders do that unfortunately

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

MWP would win. Crazy beats big everytime….plus MWP is also huge

  • K_HOLIDAY

Was that “punch” really grounds for a suspension though?

  • Conor

    This League is so soft.

How does Stu Jackson have a job after being nothing more than a failure for his entire executive career? Disgraceful.

  • Redd

Wade isn’t dirty, he just plays unfair.

  • spit hot fiyah

could u imagine mwp and the pistons fans in a fight!? wait…

  • https://twitter.com/Wayne__o BuenoWayno1

Cmon now, there are HOFers who have gave out ”lovetaps” like these their whole career.

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Find a superstar who doesn’t beg for calls even when no foul really happened. You won’t be able to do it. Kobe, Wade, LeBron, Durant. All of them do it.

  • shockexchange

Dude was once the best player on the planet. Now he’s MWP – Complete “___ Waste of Potential”

  • pposse

    Rose

a one game suspension is not nearly enough. Remember Demarcus Cousins suspension? that was worse than punching another player in the face? LOL, FOR REAL?

  • speedy

Anxiety? Somehow I like this dude, but this is a b****ass move.

  • Lloyd Price_XU

MWP might beat a few Pistons fans, but Maxiell would beat his ass everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Ron got all high-pitched and explanatory when Maxiell came over there. Not surprising of course, but funny to see. Hell in an actual fight Steve Blake would beat MWP, but that’s not really fair b/c Steve is a trained fighter and MWP is just a regular dude. His size would cripple him

  • Happy

    Ain’t that the truth.

  • Happy

Lies. I don’t have enough fingers to count how many times I’ve seen him throw his hands in the air on calls he thinks he should’ve gotten.

  • theDankerNuggets

    a punch!? really?

  • Lucas

Does he wanna start another Malace in the Palace? Jeez.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike-Gilbert/100001749589586 Mike Gilbert

uhhhhh I don’t care what Steve Blake is MWP has 80 lbs on him and is FUKKKIN CRAZY!!!! He would beat the crap out of him. As for Maxiell, he backed down because even MWP isn’t an idiot anymore. He knows a few more slip ups and he is out of the league for good. But I still stand by, crazy beats big every time

  • Comment_System

theres a difference between doing that, and mean mugging a ref EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.

  • Comment_System

Ron just be having flashbacks whenever he plays in the palace.

This is the best explanation anyone has given.
    “The evil side takes over.”

  • The Philosopher

    Ol’ Artest…
Shout out to the ABA days.

  • Caboose

Duncan. Most he ever does is -big eye stare-

  • Caboose

    Who does Metta play for?

  • Caboose

That’s why all the UFC guys don’t lift weights to get big and just chug random cocktails of pills to get crazy instead.

  • Caboose

    Yup.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

    well played, sir. well played.

  • jakethesnake

jason maxiell woulda whooped that boy’s ass.

  • jakethesnake

nah, he backed down because he didn’t wanna get worked.

  • MasterSplinter

This would be the most entertaining and annoying squad to watch for a whole season:
    PG: Russell Westbrook
    SG: Dwayne Wade
SF: Metta World Peace or DeMarcus Cousins
    PF: Kevin Garnett
    C: Dwight Howard

Besides this incident, Metta has been solid all season though.

Artest was once the best player on the planet? Come on now….you have said some stupid sh*t before but this takes the cake.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Junior-Taylor/100003121138419 Junior Taylor

So throwing a dirty punch makes you tough?

  • shockexchange

The year he got into the fight with the Pacers, MWP was the best defensive player in the L. He was averaging around 24 ppg, and was the leader of a championship caliber team. Artest was about to become the “face” of the L, especially after purists complained about how all the chucking from certain players was being too glorified, and the lack of fundamentals from high school kids entering the L.

Artest was a great defender, rebounder and demonstrated leadership and unselfish play for the Pacers who could have won it all. Put it in your diary Junior Taylor. By the way, if you don’t know the meaning of “purist,” look it up.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

yeah but this is way to blatant. David Stern is off his rocker with this one. Especially with the *cough* repeat offender

  • http://twitter.com/apowellAdvocate Allen Powell II

Yeah, because the rest of the world has a such a sterling record on foreign matters. Yep, definitely, let’s just gloss over the whole colonialism/empire building segment of world history.

  • http://twitter.com/apowellAdvocate Allen Powell II

They would destroy the League, but you should bring Boogie off the bench.

  • shutup

Add Chris Paul, especially when he was on the Hornets; that dude complained so much and pushed-off so many times…

  • shutup

Truer words were never written. Why work out when you can get abused as a kid; and become a tough guy.

  • Caboose

25-5-6 for 7 games makes him the best player on the planet? I didn’t know that Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Shaquille O’Neal, Amare Stoudemire, Dirk Nowitzki, Tracy McGrady, and Allen Iverson all stopped playing in 04-05.

  • Caboose

What do you mean by “with this one”? He hasn’t had his a$$ in his rocker for years.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i mean this isn’t one where you can be like “well he hates Gregg Popovich” or “it’s the Lakers” — this is Metta World Peace, when it comes to violence and stuff like that, he is bigger than the Lakers. —- maybe the fact that this got so little coverage is the reason he was able to do the Lakers a favor, but idk, to me this is a pretty outrageous oversight.

  • pposse

okay buddy, the guy with 3 tech fouls his whole career is near the complainer as Kjohnsonfans list goes.

  • MasterSplinter

My bench would have to be Delonte, Beasley, J.R. Smith, and Lamar Odom

  • Caboose

    Add Javale somewhere.
