JJ Barea Ejected After Beefing With Ray Allen (VIDEO)

The refs kicked JJ Barea out of the game when he and Ray Allen exhanged shoves. Barea had some not-so-kind departing words for Allen. Per the Sun-Sentinel: “It just came out nowhere,’ Allen said. That was Allen’s explanation for Barea’s play. [...] ‘It’s uncalled for,’ Allen said. ‘I’ve managed to keep a level head throughout my career. You have your moments where things get heated. When you come down from it, you can say, `That was my fault. I was in a bad situation. I was really frustrated.’ But even in that situation, I wasn’t frustrated. It was just bad judgment, I thought from the other side.’ Allen and Barea almost cleared the benches when they nearly got into it with 8 minutes, 9 seconds left in the game. Allen said he was responding to Barea tackling him on a drive. Barea claims he was retaliating to an elbow thrown by Allen earlier. ‘There was a play where he knocked the ball away and I got it back,’ Allen said. ‘Then he just leveled me. I thought it was uncalled for. There is no place for that in the game.’ Barea said, ‘He pushed off, hit me with an elbow close to the neck. Then I gave him a bump back … I’ve been playing in the NBA for seven years. I get hit harder than that every night. I don’t get up crying. I want to fight.’ The referees ejected Barea while the play served as a catalyst for the Heat. Allen made three free throws as a result of Barea being called for a Flagrant-2 foul and Minnesota coach Rick Adelman receiving technical for arguing. It was the start of a 7-0 run by the Heat.”

Barea still mad at Artest, perhaps?
And, it was either JoJo English, or A.J. English who put it on Uncle Ray Ray a few years back. And he almost got it from Rondo…
So, no Ray, you don’t always keep a level head.

  • spit hot fiyah

jj = the fire hydrant : small, solid and hard to move

  • Max

There’s something wrong when this is an ejection and Ibaka’s nutchop isn’t.

  • speedy

That isn’t an ejection. It’s a hard bump, no hit, no kick etc.
I would have understood, if Ray was up in the air and Barea went underneath him.
This is a clear overreaction by the refs.

  • zogs19994

JJ BAREA LOOKS LIKE A MIDGET…

  • vtrobot

“Jesus does not always keep a level head.” – Sincerely, Andy Varejao’s balls

  • Inyourface

Good thing J.J. didn’t do this to Kobe Bryant.

  • phillygirl

That’s what I said. JJ gets a FLAGRANT 2 and ejected for a shove/bump, but Melo slaps Spencer Hawes in the head and nothing?? So star players and star TEAMS get favorable calls? I call bullshiggity!!! I think any deliberate hit to the head (no matter how damaging) should be called more harshly than a bump to a standing player.

  • AndyK415

I was there live and honestly Ray got way too upset about it. JJ just stood there afterwards staring at Ray saying “you’re a fuc$%ng pu&&y”. There were quite a few over-the-top calls that were going on the side of the Heat and it seemed it was just because they were star players.

  • i_ball

How is that a flagrant 2???

  • Seth

    No

  • K_HOLIDAY

Ray Allen Flop?? Is the announcer serious? I dont think this is a flagrant 2 but its definitely something… No play on the ball, just a body check… I’m cool with a flagrant, but not an ejection… JJ can say what he wants, his lil @$$ will get tossed! Somewhere Stephen Curry was yelling at the TV ” noooo, dont do it… you’re not ready (Kevin Hart Voice)”

  • OneStep

If the refs do their job and call the blatant offensive foul by Allen then the rest of it doesn’t happen. How do they miss the shove that sends Barea 4 feet backwards? Even after that there’s no way Barea’s shove is anything other than a hard foul. Somewhere the Bad Boys are laughing at how pathetic this league is becoming.

  • OneStep

I liked the nutchop. You’re going to grab hold of my jersey illegally and not let go? I’m going to smack you in the nuts. You ain’t grabbing my jersey now are you? You’re grabbing your own nuts and crying like a girl.

  • LakeShow

Barea strikes me as quite douchey.

  • roscoe

As JJ was walking to the locker room Ray was on the FT line.

And JJ kept yelling at Ray 15 feet away.

    ….”you’re a kitty-cat!”

    ….”you’re a furry kitty-cat!”

    ….”you’re a kitty-cat!”

    ….”you’re a furry kitty-cat!”

    Who Knew JJ loves animals?!

  • Max

    You like nutchops.
    You..
    Like…
    Nutchops…..

    Evidently a case of he-said, he-said.

Something tells me JJ knows how to tussle. And if Ray didn’t run on his tiptoes, which is the way Jesus walks, he probably would have kept his balance.

  • http://www.rich-imaging.com/ Dutch Rich

That is curious, but apparently it wasn’t what he did, it’s what he said afterwards.
Should serve as a valuable lesson to all foreign born players. “When aggravated, speak in native tongue.”

if everyone who grabbed another players jerseys deserved a punch to the nuts, that is all the NBA would be. Nut punches.
    .
there is no excuse to punch a man in the dick just because you are frustrated he is grabbing your jersey and you can’t overpower him.
    .
really, Ibaka punched Griffin in the nuts because for one of the first times in his life he couldn’t just manhandle the person annoying him. it was frustration. it was childish. and it shouldn’t be acceptable to anyone.

  • http://twitter.com/apowellAdvocate Allen Powell II

Yeah, it’s a new world when nutchops are seen as fair game. That’s dirty pool.

  • http://twitter.com/apowellAdvocate Allen Powell II

Tha’ts why he got ejected then. you can’t say that after doing that. asking for trouble

  • 23

    You must be a woman.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

seriously. this new generation is scaring me with the sh*t they defend.

  • P

No, he got ejected for the flagrant 2.

  • anon

…and yet he makes more $$$ than you ever will, has a hotter gf, and probably knows how to type without hitting all caps like you do.

  • K_HOLIDAY

I doubt JJ is a fighter… None of these guys are… They all act tough because they dont want to get punked in front of their peers. Doesnt matter how you run, if a dude body checks you and you’re not expecting it, chances are he’s gonna get the best of you

    Truest example of napoleon complex.

  • AndyK415

No, he was calling him that after Ray got back up and was trying to get in his face. Besides if players were getting ejected for talking trash, we’d have a hell of a lot more ejections.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Sanchez

    smh

  • http://www.rich-imaging.com/ Dutch Rich

Yeah your probably right…Wait, what did you mean “his little a$$ gettin tossed??”

  • K_HOLIDAY

Getting tossed as in lifted off his little feet and getting hail mary’ed!!! Ray Allen wouldnt do it, but the Udonis Haslems and Demarcus Cousins’ of the basketball world would def shot put this dude…

  • http://twitter.com/_DFrance DFrance

Just another case of the inconsistency of the officiating. You can’t throw JJ out for that but not ejected Ibaka fpr the nut punch or Melo for slapping a guy upside the head. You can’teven say iit’s star treatment cuz Ibaka isn’t a star, yet he attacked Blake who is one and got nothing. Makes you wonder what they’re thinking at times.

  • http://twitter.com/_DFrance DFrance

Skinny jeans and leopard print sleeves and shoes with glitter and spikes on them is what this generation is about. Approving of punching another man in the nuts don’t surprise me one bit.

  • http://www.rich-imaging.com/ Dutch Rich

    hahahahaaaaaaaaa

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    excellent point my friend.

  • Meaghan Sorbi

But there were a lot of terrible calls that game to. Udonis Haslem got shoved and they called it on him

  • zogs19994

    OK HE’S A RICH MIDGET

  • davidR

add the: if a lady wants to fight like a man, it’s okay to her hit like a man to the growing list. the new generation is all bad

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

yeah it’s the parents fault tho. can’t just lump the blame on the ignorant.

  • OneStep

Well that attempt at humour certainly fell on deaf ears didn’t it? Maybe I need to add a smiley face or a “lol” at the end? On the plus side being referred to as part of the “new generation” cheered this 46 year old no end. I thank you. I thank you. I thank you. Lol :-)

  • Rick James

Ibaka slapped the eff outta Blakes nuts

  • BeanBryant24

not everyone apart of this generation is bad… there’s bad in every generation… its not all of our fault that bullshit like this happens.. get over it.

  • Lan

Disagree with Flagrant 2. Unlucky JJ.
