LeBron James’ Reverse Dunk Over John Henson (VIDEO)

Welcome to the L, John.

LeBron James had a number of huge dunks in the Heat’s 107-win over the Bucks last night, but none more impressive than this. LBJ drove to the rack and threw down a nice welcome-to-the-L reverse dunk on John Henson.

the crazy thing is that one could argue that was his 3rd bewst dunk that game. to oop from wade was sick, but probably not as good. but the spin move followed by thge 2 handed hammer was better than this one in my opinion

  • SirGrey

LeBron doesn’t even care anymore about that dunk glamour, he’s like “move it scrub, I’m tryna get back on D.”

  • Omnixyience

    he fucking traveled…again.

  • Feez_22

Learn the rules. You are allowed a step in the NBA to pick up your dribble or “gather” as many say. This is not allowed in the international game which is why pretty much every perimeter player on team USA was charged with a multitude of travels.

  • Ugh

Oh, really? What section of the rulebook is that in? Section and number, please.

  • he did

  • 80

Yeah, he is always travelling. Especially when he is in triple threat position, and starting the dribble, going for a drive. That first step is always going to be a travel, because he is so heavy, and there is no way he can beat the defender without that first step, before putting the ball down.

Section XIV Travelling (a) b. A player who receives the ball while he is progressing or upon completion of a dribble, may use a two-count rhythm in coming to a stop, passing or shooting the ball.

You see that? Upon completion of a dribble = you can take a step within a completion of the dribble which is what lebron DID in this instance. This is what is always referred to as a (gather) dribble or a dribble you can use to pick the ball up upon completion of a dribble.

I used to watch that NBA show the jump which aired i believe every Tuesday at 3 on NBA.com. They used to have an official who would clarify fouls, travels and other things. This guy is the reason why i know you are allowed a step on a gather dribble in the NBA. you are not allowed that dribble in the NCAA or FIBA basketball but in the nba you are.

  • LP

Thats a travel. i don’t care what the NBA rulebook says……he did take three steps…..nice dunk tho

Very good, accurate explanation. That gather dribble is a huge advantage though.

  • Feez_22

I agree. The nba should adopt fiba rules and take that gather dribble out. However, it’s been in the game for eons now with guys from multiple era’s using it to their advantage so us as fans just have to learn to live with it until the NBA does something about it. Most nba stars take advantage of this rule (especially on the fastbreak) so hopefully the NBA can do something about it. It’s hard enough to stop a superstar from beating you so the NBA should do something in the offseason to clarify or alter this rule.

  • Feez_22

… umm … you should care what the NBA rulebook says since, u know… it’s the literal guideline for NBA players to follow and for NBA refs to enforce. That’s like saying something in law that is legal (stock trading) is illegal because of your interpretation. It doesn’t work that way bud. All you can hope for is the NBA to alter that rule. However, rules are rules. None were broken on this play.

  • LP

Idgaf what the rules say… It was a travel a few years ago, when they were calling it the “crab dribble” …..now it isn’t a travel?… Its a travel.James Naismith says its a travel, I believe the guy who invented the mf’ing game. Not the “up to interpretation” rulebook that allows you to punch a guy in the nuts and not be suspended…and guys from multiple eras HAVE NOT BEEN doing this…. Another YouTube soldier… They just do it so quick they get away wwith it…tuck your rulebook in your rear end

  • Feez_22

Crab dribble wasn’t a gather step with 2 steps after buddy. Crab dribble as it pertained to what lebron did versus the washington wizards wasn’t a gather step + 2 steps. lebron literally took 4-5 steps on that play which was obviously a travel. A crab dribble isn’t the same as what happened here.

James naismith said a lot of things as it pertained to the game of basketball. He didn’t allow much dribbling from his players, there wasn’t a shot clock and there wasn’t a 3pt shot. There is something called “evolution” of a game as well as evolution of rules. Rules are what refs use to officiate games. Not incessant rambling which you are doing.

Punches in nuts should be called for a suspension but we have seen players like dwyane wade suspended for kicking guys in the nuts so take that where you want to take it. BTW, i have watched games from the 80s where guys like magic were doing this. Michael jordan also did this. I even saw an instance where oscar robertson did this. These are guys who played 20-30 years ago. Not a youtube warrior… In fact, i have watched a ton of old school basketball not on youtube (Beta tapes).

The rulebook is the rulebook. If you want to have a rule changed than say so. Throwing insults at me for pointing out what the rulebook says is a whole thing altogether. Don’t criticise me for posting a FACT here. Don’t criticise me when you yourself are rambling like a little kid with no fact whatsoever to back your claims up. This type of play where a player takes a gather step happens in EVERY GAME in the nba. Every single game. Don’t cry when a superstar takes advantage of the rule when everyone else is taking adv. and getting away with a LEGAL play.

No one ever thought of helping Henson after Lebron’s drive. Their defensive mindset needs a fine tune.

nice jam i don’t care if he did the ‘james white’ running runway thing

OK you teach your kid that crab dribble, and I’ll teach my kid the correct way…………as a real basketball purist (like myself), I completely respect LeBron ability to make this play. However, its a travel… We must note that this play will be called illegal in every other league in the world, if what yousay is true. I don’t have to look up an NBA RULEBOOK, I KNOW ITS A TRAVEL. And please get your point across quicker, nobody has time for an entire Easter speech….bravo that.

  • Feez_22

You’re a basketball pundit now? a dude that doesn’t know the rules and then when enlightened about them IGNORES them is no pundit dude. I call that a annoying whiny fan. My “easter” speech was upped 5 times so clearly other people liked reading what i had to say. I notice it was only downed once… Probably by you. Stop being a little baby. Show me a fact and we can discuss something. Since you haven’t YET, this will be my last reply to you. Peace.
