Referees Waive Off Blake Griffin’s Game-Winner (VIDEO)

Blake Griffin tossed in a twisting, falling shot with time running out in the fourth quarter that could have (and likely would have) won the game. Unfortunately for the Clippers, the refs said Blake pushed aside Dirk Nowitzki, and the resilient Dallas Mavericks prevailed in overtime 109-102.

    That was sick.

Now that is a flop. That is a classic, CLASSIC, Dirk flop. Where is Darksaber? Your boy flopped like a big dog on that play.

  • Lloyd

BS call. Both dudes were lobbying for position. Refs reacted to Dirk’s reaction of stumbling back. That’s either a no call or defensive foul. That should’ve counted or free throws at least.

What? I hate Dirk just as much as the next non-Mavs fan but Blake pushed Dirk away

  • spit hot fiyah

wow, i don’t think that i have ever seen that type of shot with .6 left. that was almost like ralph sampson but with a full court heave.

  • what

So then does the shot have to clear waivers before some other team can claim it?

  • Waiting for the NBA to admit that the refs made a mistake of calling this a foul…

  • underdog

Young unproven player -> flop. Savvy ex-mvp -> veteran move. Anyway, it’s only a flop if the refs don’t buy it.

  • speedy

Not really a flop if he’s still standing.
He just stumbled and showed that there was contact, the rest is the refs job.Maybe you should watch some Blake Griffin games to see some real flopping.

  • Max

That’s just Dirk’s awkward walking style.

Just because Blake flops like crazy doesn’t mean Dirk doesn’t do the same. Dirk flopped on that play.

Not in my watching. He never extended his arms with force. Dirk started falling as soon as the ball was in the air.

That’s one way of looking at it.

That was a terrible call. Worst part of it all was the Clippers lost after this. Def wasnt an offensive foul tho. Dirk’s knees are just that bad!

  • trueballer4life

thats bs blake got that bucket..

  • Seth

There was some grabbing there, as always when fighting for position, but no push-offs from what I could see. Amazing play. Too bad it was called off.

  • Tupac

    No call there.

    Clutch acting!

No man, that was a grade A, premium flop.

  • OneStep

Nonsense. It wasn’t much of a foul just two people going for the ball and one winning. It was no flop just an ageing pair of legs failing to beat a young athletic pair.

  • LakeShow

    Dude… No…
Blake pushed him yes, but not enough for the stupid reaction of Dirk acting like he shoved him.
    It’s a flop.

  • http://twitter.com/_DFrance DFrance

Looking at it from that last angle, it doesn’t look like much of a shove at all. But I was watching the game live and as it happened, it looked like he shoved him. Dirk didn’t really exaggerate the contact like a typical flopper (head snap, arms flailing) so it looked like a legit shove. Amazing shot by Blake.

  • http://twitter.com/apowellAdvocate Allen Powell II

A foul was called mainly because Dirk flailed his arms like he’d been shot when he wasn’t even shoved. That’s the definition of a flop.
Based on a second reading of your comment, I think you might have misunderstood my comment.

  • Lloyd

Dirk flailed his arms and fell back when Blake had his arm fully extended on him. He was overacting to sell a call that shouldn’t have been made to a ref that wasn’t paying attention. That’s exactly what a flop is.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

the fact that Dirk makes no attempt to stop the play is what makes me believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was trying to sell it. He looks at the ref before Blake even catches the ball.

Dirk aint good enough to be AQWORD anything.

  • Max

Now I finally get your name.
    I read it as A Q word.
