Russell Westbrook Shoots from Halfcourt Early in Shot Clock (VIDEO)

Thinking he was about to be fouled by Gary Neal, Russell Westbrook launched and badly missed a halfcourt heave in the third quarter of last night’s OKC Thunder 105-93 loss in San Antonio. He’s the best.

    It was very clearly a foul on Neal. You can’t put two hands on a guy on the perimeter like that. So worst case scenario in Westbrook’s mind was the ref would call a foul on the floor.

    I promise that it would’ve been called a foul had Lebron been bringing the ball up the floor. Also, everyone would be lauding him for his high basketball IQ for putting up a shot and trying to get 3 free throws…

    that was a foul plain and simple. Smart play by Westbrook, just wrong person to do it. CP would probably get that call

    Paul tried it last week when a team fouled him just over halfcourt and he said right away to the refs i tried to shoot the 3pointer but they didnt give him 3 FT´s just a normal foul on the floor

    Neal puts his hands out and Westbrook ran into them and shot it. If they call that a foul, then you’d see players doing that every game.

    gotcha. Either way, no one in the NBA tries to stick a PG (let alone Russell Westbrook) from the half court line. As a referee you should be anticipating a foul if that is what the defender is trying to do. The ref should get fined for this, this is such a simple and obvoius call to make. The three ft’s is really unimportant, atleast make a call on the ground before the shot.

    Boneheaded gamble. Was a foul but he should know refs are always homers in SA. Home court will be huge for them bc refs let SAS get away with murder.

    If you think the refs let SAS get away with murder on their home floor you clearly didn’t pay attention to game 5 of the WCF or last night’s game, for that matter. The Thunder were in the bonus with 6 1/2 minutes to go and got three touch calls that hadn’t been fouls all night within about a minute of that to nearly pull them back in the game. If anyone’s got the edge in whistles it’s OKC. Russ and KD together have more made freethrows this season than 10 teams.
