Jose Calderon Nearly Walks to Wrong Locker Room in Toronto (VIDEO)

April fooled.

At halftime of the Detroit Pistons’ 108-98 win in Toronto, former Raptors guard Jose Calderon April Fooled himself by almost walking to his old locker room. Per the Toronto Sun: “It’s just a different feeling,’ began Calderon, whose return to the Air Canada Centre drew an unusually high amount of media members. ‘It’s just weird. So many feelings, so many memories. Next to my home (back in Spain), this is the place where I’ve spent most of my time.’ [...] During the pre-game introductions, Calderon was the last Piston to be introduced. Fans at the ACC stood in unison, a show of support not seen since Morris Peterson came to town for the first time. There was no half-court kiss, but Calderon approached mid-court before he looked skyward and began to clap his hands as a show of respect. During a timeout, an overhead tribute was presented, a moment the fans used to once again give Calderon a standing ovation. [...] ‘My teammates had to remind me not to make a left,’ said Calderon, referring to the walk visitors make once they leave their team bus at the ACC’s loading dock.”

I miss Calderon. Loved him on the Raptors.

don’t ask us some hurtful question bro. lowry has not been healthy and his shooting is downright atrocious. Add that to the fact that we are paying derozan(11mil) and Rudy(15 mil) and those 3 players combine shooting % is .415 from the field and a putrid .307 from deep. wanna be depressed more, raptors want to extend rudy to a max deal and derozan is sign for another 4 years after this. GOD HELP US PLEASE

Lowry started off the season on Fire. I think after the first 3 games he was even leading the league in PER and was rated number 1 on the fantasy bball radars. Then he got injured, then I think he lost his starting spot to Calderon while trying to recover and never bounced back. A lot of people even think Casey neutured Lowry by continually telling him to be a pass first point guard (essentially what Jose was) and now Lowry’s strengths have been completely nullfiied. He barely looks for his own shot anymore. We don’t even have a draft pick (albeit a weak draft class). And then there’s the fact that the Lowry and Gay acquisitions prevent us from tanking next season for (hopes of) drafting Andrew Wiggins. Haven’t even mentioned the fact that we STILL have Bargnani. The team is a mess. We need to fire Bryan Colangelo, and Casey is not far off.

dude i completely forget we still have banana on the team. my team morale just drop a little more

Haha that’s pretty funny. Makes sense though since he played most of his career there. Gotta respect Raptors fans though. Giving standing Os to guys like Calderon and Mo-Pete? I mean, both dudes are/were solid players, but neither were All-Stars by any means. It’s cool that Raptors fans show love to players just for having been Raptors.

I thought that too. But it seems like Toronto wants to go with the fast, athletic approach with Gay, DeRozan, and Lowry. Calderon is a pure PG. I wish kids would model their game after him, he just plays the right way. He just does not have the explosion Lowry has. Defense too.

Wow, literally 2 hours after I made my post, a Toronto Sportswriter pretty much says the same thing. lol

    didn’t he want out?

If you knew you were as good as Calderon, but you’re getting mop up minutes on a team you spent 7 1/2 seasons in, you’ll probably want a change too.

As you may or may not know, Toronto is a team that is heavily invested in analytics. The stats show that Kyle Lowry has a larger, more positive impact on the game than Calderon and will probably continue to in the future.

And I personally think that Toronto was correct in trading Calderon.

I had Lowry on my team for the first couple of weeks, traded him 3 days before he got injured lol.
