Kyrie Irving Plays Pick-Up at Montclair State University (VIDEO)

And destroys his competition.

Cleveland Cavaliers star point guard Kyrie Irving was spotted hooping at Montclair State University on Monday, and as you might expect, the kids had no chance against Uncle Drew.

    Scary good.

the guy in red did a good job defending him; they only showed like 3 or 4 highlights on him and they were all contested jumpshots or fadeaways.

Please don’t pull a Wall and get injured before the season starts.

  • rginclaty

was coming to say this. especially the one where kyrie had to fade from the deep corner, that was sick

I love seeing videos like these. Makes you see how much more talented and athletic NBA players are compared to even the best player at a pick up game. But then you also realize that yeah, even if I was in the best shape of my life, I could never keep up with ANYONE in the league.

It’s only impressive because he’d only be a junior at Duke. Which is not really impressive because this is Monclair State. Not hating Kyrie is a monster. Don’t get hurt playing scrubs.

He was hitting tough shots like he was shooting wide open jumpers. Granted, this is a highlight tape so we didn’t get the misses, but it was still impressive.

Enjoy seeing things like this. Most of these guys would play almost anywhere just for the love of the game. Didn’t know Kyrie had those last two dunks in him though.

Youngins’ received that Uncle Drew treatment.

an nba all-star doing what he wants against some dudes in montclair (where on earth is this place) is impressive?

  • http://twitter.com/apowellAdvocate Allen Powell II

To me it is. I’m talking about the shots he’s hitting. Those aren’t easy shots, regardless of who is guarding you. I mean, everyone who has played ball understands the amount of work it takes to get to the point where you can hit those shots that frequently and easily. That is impressive to me.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

I agree. And unlike alot of all star/summer league/charity games, these guys were actually staying on their feet on his pumpfakes and closing out to contest his fadeaways.

  • spit hot fiyah

fair enough, i agree with that. i guess i just take it for granted. i saw some tape of gary forbes one time hitting up some summer league for 70. i mean, kyrie did this in the rookie soph game last year

    Don’t reach young-blood

  • Cory

What? If you play ball past the age of 15 or 16 and you work on your jumper, you can hit turn-around and non-contested jump shots all day, just like Kyrie did here. If you think shooting uncontested jump shots is impressive, you should check out Nik Stauskas shooting like a young Larry Bird on youtube. Wonder why that video didn’t make this website, being SLAM posted a video of a 7 footer missing a put-back. Questions…

  • Cory

Yes you could dude, yes you could. Well, depending on what type of shape “the best shape in my life” is referring to. You could keep up, especially in today’s NBA

  • JB

To get to the next level, play against competition. This wasn’t even a warm-up for KI.

  • da_biz!

looks like he’s working on his post game. perhaps that’s a new development to look forward to in 2013-14. but who could he reasonably post up in the L?

  • http://twitter.com/apowellAdvocate Allen Powell II

If you can hit turnaround an contested jumpers all day then you probably aren’t the average pick up basketball player. That’s just a fact.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

he did just average 23 in the NBA……on the Cavs….while his second option was Dion Waiters

  • Bandwagonfan

No worries. He did it against nyk, okc, celtics and much more.and those were much cooler highlights

  • Bandwagonfan

Cmon man. Hes like playing without sprinting..
