Russell Westbrook Ruins Patrick Beverley’s Ankles (VIDEO)

Unfortunately for Russell Westbrook and the OKC Thunder, the refs whistled him for an offensive foul after a devastating crossover move on Patrick Beverly. No matter, though, as the Thunder cruised in a 120-91 Game 1 romp over the Houston Rockets.

*Begin rant* I’m sick and tired of this charge/block line and I think it should be eliminated from professional basketball. That call is a judgement call and all that line does is bail out the referees from having to use their eyes and brains. The charge/block is often not as cut and dry as “was he in the restricted area”? A lot of times guys are moving, they jump in front when the offensive person has already started their move to the rim, they fall before theyare really hit .

Defenders have become extremely lazy because of it. No one attemptsto block a shot aanymore. And this lazy way of” defending” gets praised by commentators and analyst as a defender giving up his body when in actuality all he did was give up on trying to play real defense. The sad thing is that the charge is taught in college as a defensive technique, instead of being in good position and going straight up to block or contest a shot. College refs love nothing more than to call a charge, it’s sickening.

Remove the stupid line and let the refs do what they’re being paid to do.
    *rant done*

Give me three videos where he does, not including this one.

    Fair and square.
But you’d think a PG with speed like him would have alot more.

  • Lynx

THAT I agree with, but he doesnt need it cause of the speed

Harden was overplaying Kevin Martin so Martin faked a cut to the basket and Harden went flying. Kevin Martin was literally standing at the three point line jumping up and down for the ball wide open for like 5 seconds before Harden got up and back on him. If the PG had gotten him the ball instead of standing there watching KD for what to do next, it would’ve been a nicer highlight than this.

my HS literally would spend hours of practice time every season learning how to, and when to (always) try and take a charge.

*rant continued*the restricted area has done so much more damage than good. refs are not even looking if the defender is sliding in under a player that is already in the air or not, they are only looking at his heels. this constant sliding out of the restricted area/sliding in under players is also very dangerous, as under cutting someone can cause falls and injuries. stupid semi circle (angry kid voice)
