I love watching Nick Young on highlight videos and such. His 360 layup is still one of the most amazing things I’ve seen. But I sense I’m gonna hate watching him on the Lakers. I’m dreading it already. Maybe it’ll serve as motivation for Kobe to get better even faster… Is there a player Kobe’s gonna hate more in the L than Nick Young?
    Besides Dwight Howard…

What about Kwame and Smush Parker lol

    Chris Childs?

    Ball Hawk

This list is growing by the second.

    Hog?

Why do you think KB will hate him? Because of his shot selection?

While it’s not great, he is a talented scorer, and KB know’s that and will want the help him help the team. Nick can be very effective in the right role. I too am curious to see if he will get to out of hand in D’Antoni’s freewheeling offense or if he is going to set things ablaze with his deadly array of moves with the green light… We’ll see.

yeah but we call it hawk sometimes cause that boy just be flying towards the ball. Seen him play in DC two years ago…sitting in the lower level..everyone around me called him a hawk..Nick young did his best hulk hogan and put his ears towards the crowd. He didn’t let anyone down either, he must have shot the ball 30 times that game. Good luck with him..

His shot selection is horrendous, but he has all the talent in the world as a scorer. I know Kobe’s a gunner, but I think Kobe will look at him and see his potential, at least while he’s on the sidelines and giving him tips. Once they’re playing together… I mean, there’s only one ball. Playing with Kobe is either gonna be the best thing that ever happened to Nick Young, and we’ll see his whole attitude change (he’s only 28 years old!) or Kobe might literally kill him for not passing. I don’t mean to say anyone could do it, but an NBA-caliber guard who handles the ball a decent amount should in theory average more than 1 assist a game for his career… It’ll be interesting to see how he handles quality teammates but I really can’t decide how I feel about him being on my team just yet haha…

The thing that I see is that KB rarely has had a good shooter around him in his playing days. So he is going to be glad that there is outside shooter around so he can work more in the post with the Centers gone.

Jodie Meeks is a gunner that takes ill advised shots also. He shot 7 FGA at 38% last season and all I can remember is KB telling him to keep shooting.

I think it will work fine. He tosses up allot of shot’s but you can bet KB will keep him on a tighter leash then his usual self.

You know as well as me right now… This could be a disaster, but at least we have young talent lol.

Yeah I see what you mean, but Young’s a streaky shooter in the Jamal Crawford vein… When he’s on, he’s on FIRE, but when he’s not, he can’t really do anything else. That’s what I’m afraid of.

I’d love for us to spend this year tanking tbh. Let Kobe gun for the scoring title, and let’s get Wiggins. Or at least let’s trade Pau for a pick. This team isn’t championship caliber and much as I love Pau, he’s got a lot of value. Let’s get a lottery pick for him, swing some mega 3-teamer. Hell, let’s trade Pau to Sacremento for Cousins and Toronto/ Sacremento’s pick (Lakers have the option to take the higher pick, Sacremento get’s the other), Nash and Sacre to Toronto. Lakers get a young center that Kobe can hopefully get through to. I know it’s a pipe dream but if Cousins might leave, Sac can definitely use Pau as an expiring and start over, building around McLemore, Pau and a good pick next year. Lakers will suck next year, but if we have two lottery picks and we’re watching Kobe going for 100 every night, I’d say that’d be pretty entertaining. And Toronto does it because Nash is the only way their team is relevant/popular anytime soon, unless Jonas becomes a HOFer overnight.

Sadly, something like this won’t happen. Instead we’re gonna be a middling team for the next 3 or 4 years until Kobe retires and we flat out suck. I hate Jim Buss. Bring back Jeanie!!

I agree with allot of what you think. Unfortunately… EVERYTHING would have to go perfect for all those things to occur.
Say we win 5 games next year. That still doesn’t guarantee us Wiggins and tbh I don’t want to get rid of all of our players for a 1 in 10 chance at getting a player that will change the franchise. Right now the L is tight $$$ wise and that will cause others to have to start rebuilding cheaper teams soon. The Lakers are still the richest team. They don’t have to build through the draft they can acquire talents with money still. It’s not as lost cause as you make it sound.

  • RKJ92

That’s so ignorant.. what makes you think we would trade our 1st round draft pick for Nash, and Sacre.. we may be a Canadian team but were not stupid.. please don’t comment bs like that.. it’s not even a small possibility. Thank you.

Dude, re-read… It’s a pipe dream.I know the Raps would never do it. I’m talking hypothetical Pau caliber deals. I can’t even think of a realistic one just yet, but I don’t think it’ll matter much, we’re gonna be an average to slightly above average team for the next 3 years, then Kobe’s gone. Sadly, right now, we ARE stupid.

I hope you’re right, but I just think if I was a free agent, I wouldn’t go near Jimmy Buss. It seems like he’s trying to carve his own path, but he’s not doing it right. Maybe he’ll get better at some point; I hope so. But I love the draft, and it doesn’t need to be Wiggins; I’d take Randle, Parker or either of the Harrison twins. Even Aaron Gordon, depending on how he does this year. I think a lot of those players are potential franchise players. I just hated last season so much. Being a 5 through 8 seed and losing in the first round isn’t fun. Although with Kobe, who knows? Maybe give it another chance next year, but I really like this draft…

  • RKJ92

Your team just needs time to sort out bad contracts, Lakers will be back on top in 4 years MAX, which sounds long but really isn’t Kobe is your problem right now; his contract is too much money, and he isn’t a team player. You fix those 2 issues pick up some key free agents along with your draft picks on the way, everything should be fine!

  • RKJ92

Just remember its not always about the big moves, you just need small moves, and tweaks to make a good team.

  • Ben Ireland

Yeah, I see your point, but I’m more thinking of how can Kobe win, than how the Lakers can win, I guess. Ideally, I’d like to compete while still being able for the future. Although, I guess it’s pretty impossible to do both those things without having Lebron or Durant. I’d love to see Kobe win one more just, tie Jordan and then call it a day. The crap sandwich on our roster isn’t really the way to do it, I don’t think though. I guess I’m just depressed because of Jim Buss. I really can’t stand that man. But I suppose he can only get better! Who knows, maybe Pau becomes a MVP candidate and D’Antoni changes everything from last year… It’s just a crappy mix of things right now. I don’t see us doing much this year anyway.
