JJ Redick is Prepared for Lob City (VIDEO)

LA Clippers guard JJ Redick won’t just be launching three-pointers next season. Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan better watch out — Redick wants in on the lobs, too.

He was sitting behind me last year at a RedSox game with Big Baby! I was surprised that up close he’s pretty tall but so skinny!

  • JibbsIsBallin

Come on, of course he’s going to be shooting jumpers and 3′s. Definitely don’t see him throwing them down like this in a game.

  • spit hot fiyah

there is always lay up lines

  • LLC#12

If Redick dunks a single alley-oop this season I’ll eat my hat. I wonder how many players in the NBA can’t dunk, less than 10 I reckon. Ridnour, Nash, Tinsley?…I wonder how many commenters on here can dunk, as an aside. 50-50 split, 40-60?

  • fruizm

You mean…you wonder how many commenters on here have actually played basketball!!

  • Cecil

They all can. At least at one point anyway. I witnessed John Stockton’s kid throw down easy which leads me to believe John Stockton threw down as a young man too. That experience was enough for me to think all nba players can dunk.

  • Nathan Shane Long

HOLY FUCC JJ COULD NEVER DUNK AT DUKE WHERE DID THIS ATHLETICISM COME FROM?

  • LLC#12

Yeah I reckon at one point in their careers they all probably could, but right now, I reckon there’s a few guys struggling to graze the rim. Pretty cool story about John Stocktons kid though, but I just can’t imagine Stockton dunking!

  • ONMY88SHiT

I think everyone in the NBA can dunk. just not in a game.

I used to think some probably couldn’t but seeing 35 year old Pablo Prigioni dunk multiple times during warmups last season changed my mind.

  • LLC#12

Hahaha, true, some guys on here seem to know too much about the game for them to be terrible at playing it, but at the same time, you can imagine some guys being fat middle aged keyboard warriors who haven’t touched a ball in years!

  • Nathan Shane Long

    good work troll

  • LakeShow

In your world the trolls are truth tellers….
    Rather Bizarro…

  • Nathan Shane Long

your “handy” with a computer wow that impressive anyway one breakaway dunk does not compare to his vine

  • LLC#12

Anyone who can dunk, can do better dunks outside of games. Besides, he doesn’t really jump that much higher in this video than he does in the one Lake posted. I do find it funny when you call people trolls though.

  • LakeShow

    I agree.

But you said: “HOLY FUCC JJ COULD NEVER DUNK AT DUKE WHERE DID THIS ATHLETICISM COME FROM?”

Key phrase being “COULD NEVER DUNK AT DUKE”

    He has gotten more athletic.
    We agree.
I was just giving you a hard time because you speak in “UnfrozenCaveManLawyer” tone.

Speaking of… who was that cat? Tarzan right? He disappeared.
    I liked him…

  • fruizm

    Can Stockton’s kid ball?

  • Nathan Shane Long

JJ Redick and what he has become in the NBA is impressive in college he was the stereotypical white boy shooter the most hated player in america and the hate was more intensified since he played for “DOOK” he was called a bust after his first three years in Orlando but since the 2009-2010 season he has become a legit NBA player fast forward to now he got a 27 million dollar deal and is a top 10 shooting guard in the league with the clippers

  • MasterSplinter

With all the obvious facts that you just stated, you have still yet to mention why you started busted out the troll card.

  • bike

I once witnessed JJ in college during a pregame warm up shoot 3′s for twenty solid minutes and not miss a single one. Far, far more impressive than his dunks ever will be.

  • Cecil

Plays for gonzaga, or did anyway.

  • Cecil

I couldn’t imagine it until i saw his kid do it, they look almost identical. I am canadian and a coach once told me a story about how he got dunked on in high school by one Mr. Steven Nash. I wish there was footage.

  • Max

You should’ve replied to the comment above that one.

  • RKJ92

Bro that made me laugh so hard

  • LakeShow

lol, such a sh*tty dunk haha

  • LakeShow

    lol
Gotta love free commonly known information though right??

  • RKJ92

lol he’s white he never stood a chance xD there aren’t too many white dudes that can throw down like Michael, or Dominique :P

  • RKJ92

    LOL @ top 10 sg you’re funny..

  • RKJ92

No his kid is horrible lol got in Gonzaga only through John’s rep.

  • RedhawkSU

I always thought “Lob Angeles” made more sense than “Lob City.”

  • RKJ92

No, not every one there are still a bunch that can’t dunk, it’s not exactly a requirement at point guard. Such as Steve Blake, Tinsley, Ridnour, DJ Augustine, John Lucas, Beno Udrih, DeAndre Jordan (just joking LOL).

  • logues

he’s 6’4 and plays in the nba… part of his job is to be in great physical shape and workout with the best trainers in the world… I would hope he could do those dunks

  • pposse

    he is tho isnt he?

  • RKJ92

    no…

  • RKJ92

In no particular order.. 1) Wade 2) Harden 3) Kobe 4) Andre Igoudala 5) Klay Thompson 6) Joe Johnson 7) Manu Ginobili 8) Iman Shumpert 9) Paul George 10) Demar DeRozan 11) Eric Gordon 12) OJ Mayo 13) Bradley Beal 14) Jamal Crawford 15) Tyreke Evans 16) Wesley Matthews 17) Aaron Afflalo 18) JR Smith 19) Evan Turner 20) Jimmy Butler 21) Dion Waiters 22) Monta Ellis 23) Danny Green 24) Kevin Martin.
    .
All of those players right now are currently better at the SG position then JJ Reddick (you have to account for defense as well).

  • pposse

damn he doesn’t even crack the top 24?! i was just curious, I thought Reddick really improved his defense and overall game this past year, atleast from what was being said on here…i sure as hell didn’t catch one orlando magic game last year. But seriously i remember people saying his defense was very underrated. But now that you mention all those players over him too besides Green and Martin …so i guess he’s in my top 23

  • RKJ92

Green is an above average defender with better shooting then Reddick making him the better overall player; and Martin is the exact same player Reddick is just bigger, better through efficiency numbers, also a legitimate 3rd option on any team while Reddick is still just a role player make sense?

  • ONMY88SHiT

Just because you haven’t seen them dunk, doesn’t mean they can’t. I bet all of those guys could dunk if their lives depended on it.

  • extravagant

He played in the 2nd german league, wasn’t great at all, especially when you consider the level in germany^^

  • RKJ92

Not a chance. I’ve played ball at an extremely high level and there are still plenty of people not able to dunk — it is a genetic issue.

  • LakeShow

You musta never heard of Brent “BONES” Barry!!!

  • RKJ92

Lol who doesn’t know about Brent! He jumped from the free throw line in the dunk contest; certified beeeaasstttt (for a white guy that is) haha, chambers was pretty dope too!

  • LakeShow

Redick is better than Martin now. He is the better defender and shooter. He is better than Green too. Comparable shooters comparable defenders, but JJ has a slightly more diverse offensive game.

He’s similar overall to Wesley Matthews.

  • ONMY88SHiT

You can’t say not a chance because you have no proof just like I don’t. I bet they can, but since it’s pointless arguing with people who present their view on things as facts, I’ll let it slide. Good day sir.

  • RKJ92

Not yet, Martin is statistically better but it can go either way I wouldn’t care. The difference between Martin, and Reddick is that on any given night Martin is a threat to go off for 25ishppg Reddick is not that type of player yet, and Kevin Martin is still a better defender then JJ Reddick. I can pull up the stats if you want?
    .
There is no way in hell JJ is better then Green idk where you would get that from, as Green is a significantly better shooter, worlds better at defense, AND able to guard the 2-3 positions. He was actually causing LeBron, AND Wade fits in the playoffs. This is the kid people were ready to name the MVP of the finals had the SAS beat MIA, do you really in your right mind think that JJ Reddick could do any of that? lol because it makes me laugh to even imagine JJ Reddick lighting up teams, and playing above average defense in the playoffs.
    .
I get the Wesley Matthews comparison, statistically (except JJ is a WAY better 3 point shooter lol); but Wes is a top defender at the SG position in the league so on push I hand it to Wes Matthews.
    .
I think your opinions are all a coin toss it’s deff some good input I just tastefully disagree, with the Danny Green one :)

  • RKJ92

    Good Day,

  • LakeShow

Martin “went off” for 25 points 3 times last year.(Same as Redick)

He never had more than 5 assists all year.(JJ had several 7+)
Only collected over 5 rebounds twice.(JJ is just as sh*tty a rebounder)
Blocked 3 shots over the entire season.(JJ only had 9)
    He averaged 14-2-2-1 on 45%.

Redick bounced between Orlando and then off to Milwaukee. Across those two teams he put up 14-4-2-.5 on 43%.

So at worse it’s a wash between them. The one thing we know for sure though is that JJ is on the way up, and Martin is on the way down.

I have Redick as the better defender too. I don’t know what #’s that aren’t team related, you could show me.

Matthews is sightly better overall so far but I think Redick may be able to make it more competitive this coming season playing with a great PG for the first time.

I think you’re slightly over rating Danny Green because of his playoff performance.

He is very good. I have them as equal shooters. San Antonio is able to get Green better looks than JJ has had in a while, but they are both very talented shooters. Green might be better defensively, but JJ is a better passer, slasher, and mid range shooter.

I guess my point is that Redick can claim a top 15 SG spot this season possibly.

He was better than Dion Waiters last year, but Waiters might be making a jump too.

  • RKJ92

The only thing that makes me kinda iffy on this, is his age, since his 09-10′ season he has actually statistically been on a decline, I feel like he may have already peaked, and the decline has started (although still a quality role player), his defensive numbers have even gone down to the output he was putting up as a rookie again, kinda scary like he is literally a hair away from costing his team on defense again.
    .
Another thing I cannot ignore about Reddick is that he actually under performs in the playoffs. In 3 of Reddicks 7 playoff appearances (his most recent 2 of his last 3 seasons to date) he was actually costing his team wins being on the floor, both offensively, and defensively just non-existent. I just cannot fathom him doing better this season as history shows by your 30′s your stats will start to drop slowly, like I love Reddick in the regular season to give your team about 5 more wins during the season but I don’t have faith he will out perform either one of Danny Green, or Wesley Matthews.
    .
The only guy I could see him having an identical season as is Martin. As for Dion Waiters though if were stating who will be better this upcoming season 100% it will be Waiters, he’s ready to make the jump, because barring Bynum not playing to much he is the 2nd option behind Irving, and could possibly be more efficient from the field assuming he’s refining his game this summer, we just need to see his defense step up from last year he just gambled way too much and cost his team a lot, but that can be expected though as he is only a rookie. Needless to say I’m excited for the season this year it’s gonna be crazyyyyy!! :)

  • marcus berzat

I think dj can dunk… It’s really unlikely that he can not coming from new orleans.

  • RKJ92

I’ve been to many Raptor games already, not once did it happen in the warm ups. Never in a game once.

  • Andreanglais

And yet, I’ve seen Calderone dunk in warm ups…

  • RKJ92

I never said anything about Calderon you f*cking illiterate idiot, we were talking about DJ Augustine, I already know Calderon can dunk, he did a 360 dunk in warm ups after he was talking to me, and my friend working security for the court side seats..
